How To Build A Deck: How To Install FastenMaster Ledger Loc - Colorado Custom Covers & Decks

When framing a deck, one of the first structural steps is to install the ledger loc. This is where you will attach the ledger board to the house, which will support the weight of the deck.
To properly install the ledger loc, follow these guidelines:
Keep lags at a minimum of 1 inch from the top and bottom of the ledger to prevent splitting and ensure stability. You may need to keep the bottom lag higher to avoid going in-between the rim and top plate, which can cause the ledger loc from fully attaching.
Keep lags at least 2 inches away from the joist layout to avoid interfering with the joists.
Keep lags at an equal height throughout the ledger to ensure consistency.
Sink lags flush with the ledger to ensure a smooth surface. Clean any liquid that may extrude from the ledger to prevent dripping on the patio below.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your ledger loc is properly installed and ready for the next step in framing your deck.
