Hi Fred, I really enjoy your channel. I’m looking to build my first HQ setup. Very new to sound systems and want to build a budget friendly HQ system. My factory setup is the 4, 6.5” speaker, and 2, 1” tweeter slots that are unused. I plan on going with Focal PS165 FE for the front of my car and keeping the rear 2 speakers factory or something more basic as I want to focus on the front, but looking for clarity and overall balance. I also plan on going from my 10” JL Sub Box, to something that fits under the passenger seat or under the trunk bed. Blaupunkt Under Seat, maybe JBL Spare Tire, but prefer something cheaper that works good. Thoughts? Lastly, i see so many people run separate amp and dsp, but what really caught my attention is STEG SDSP. My initial plan was to run Helix DSP Mini MK2 with Tru Tech T4S or Audison SR5.600 or SR4.500. But i like how the STEG is 2 in 1, and can power my entire sound system. Overall, what do you recommend to buy for a simple setup for my first time and do you have recommended DSP settings? Fred, I was looking at one of your videos from a couple of years back of an Android HU and Topping DSP. I recently bought a 2023 Joying with the Snapdragon 6125 and SI47925 chipset. I want to run a Helix or JL Audio DSP with optical. I’m wondering if you know whether these newer Joyings have better quality signal now to make sure running a DSP via optical is worth it?
Hi mate, Joying is a budget player, you will never get that full rich sound. other like clarion alpine stinger are way better sounding. Joying is mainly lacking in bass. Depends on your music taste it maybe can work for you. Thanks for watching
@@frednsound Thanks for the quick reply Fred. I still have a return window on the Joying. I may get an Alpine or Kenwood plus a DSP to do some side by side testing.
Let's separate the wheat from the chaff! I am curious how many of these DSP's presented has that virtual (central) channel as Helix implemented? And how many of these DSP has optical input for let's say 5 channel processor input for surround sound. Maybe it is time to move the processing power towards HOW the input signal ia processed? From something like ... SACD audio quality. I do not expect any answer from you on the last question, othewise you will make me bankrupt being forced to buy such product, if does exists. Can you guide me toawrds something like that; in car SACD audio reproduction? It would set apart the level of quality; an absolute amazing audio in car audio system!
Hi, no DSP currently produces the SACD sampling rate, but many other great technologies with great design and quality components do produce great sound quality. even if they did make the SACD you still need that special car player that actually plays that sampling rate range. Thanks for watching
@@frednsound As you expected probably, I know all that. All I have asked actually was an optical input, TOS Link..., which is capable to process a (coded) surround sound from the entry of DSP through DSP to different outputs (x6, X12, whatever many..) which can be then individually adjusted to the number of the speakers of the car, for the amplifiers. I truly do not understand WHY they left this technology aside? It would work perfectly in car audio system environment to give maximum pleasure of listening the music! There are still SACD CD's around.. And more can be made tailored for the car. But this mode of inputs would work even with linear signal on optical cable. The benefit? The audio signal will be processed to the level in which voice or the main instrument can be (almost) separated for a speaker that sits (fitted) on the dashboard. A varity of effects can be implemented as Movies audio effect, Surround sound effect, Matrix effect... and all this can bring an un-match system. All these DSP that are in the market are just time delaying sounds that reaches the ears simultaneously. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH.. I am afraid. There is more to the music that this. If I will have time I will post here a link to the level of sound I got to (in terms of distinction of sounds effects) in a pseudo-matrix system in my car..
@@MrFryfish Well, the old Alpine in this video had those features.
