Yes, I’ve done the breast MRI. 🤯Ugh. It was horrible for me. It was 2 years ago, and at that time I weighed 430 pounds and I wore a 56H bra. I had to be face down on the MRI table and try to smash my giant boobs into a spot that was clearly not big enough, and my knees are shot and had to get in the table ON my knees. Then my huge butt wouldn’t allow me to even fit in the damn machine to do the scans. 🤦♀️ It was pretty traumatic at the time.
I ended up getting a double mastectomy anyhow, so the MRI wasn’t needed! Argh!
Thankfully the cancer was contained to my right breast and no chemo or radiation needed.
Now I’m down 160 pounds and I’m scheduled to get a brand new knee on June 10th! In November I was lucky to get 500 steps in a day, now I’m near 5,000. No slowing me down now!
I’m so proud of you Jenn. I think it’s great that you’re sharing your journey. And sometimes, yes, you just gotta laugh. ❤️❤️❤️

I hope you are healing well. I am glad you are being proactive about your care. Yes, MRIs are insane in this country. My hubby had a stress fracture in his foot and they wanted to do an MRI to confirm... the treatment wouldn't have changed regardless of the MRI. He declined. Saved us hundreds of dollars in an instance where the MRI wasn't necessary to treat the injury.
Maybe you didn’t get a LOT done this weekend, but you got a very important thing done and you cared for your health and that is paramount!

I had the same surgery and seed as well 2013. I did have radiation for 3 months after the surgery. All the mammograms and ultra sounds as well. All is good now .

I have to go thru breast mris every year after finding I think it's called atypia? Not a fun procedure but it's all worth it for your health. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Is the seed and the clip the same thing?

Am so sorry that you have to go through all of the processes, but it is important. I have been where you are and am a breast cancer survivor, I had a Lumpectomy. I pray you are cancer free and remain that way. It is a PROCESS, but you have all of us routing for you!

Jen glad your surgery went ok. I have been in the OR so many times. I have two small cysts in my breast and they do an ultra sound and mammogram every 6 months. Glad you are feeling better. My prayers are with you.

So glad you’re sharing about this. I’m turning 30 in September. Last fall I had genetic testing due to family history of breast cancer. While I thankfully did not test positive for BRCA or any other genetic abnormalities, they placed my lifetime risk of developing breast cancer at 37% (due to family history, the fact that I haven’t had children yet, etc). I will have annual MRIs starting this September (happy birthday to me!), and then at 35 will begin alternating MRIs and mammograms every 6 months, like you. I will meet with a genetic counselor once a year for a manual exam and to talk about any new health developments. It’s really scary to receive that percentage, but I’m so grateful for the information and early screening. We are lucky to have great insurance and to live in a city with some of the best hospitals in the country, but I know not everyone is this lucky. I hope that, as more people begin to speak out about this, more and more women will be able to learn about their risk and take action accordingly. Again, thank you so much for sharing about this - it makes me feel much less alone.

Never heard of a breast mri. I had pre cancerous cells on one breast once and had a lumpectomy. They removed an amount in comparison to the size of a golf ball. they got some good margins around the cells and everything turned out benign thank goodness. But I know exactly what you're going through.
Some of the tests we women have to go through are ridiculously uncomfortable 🥴

You are a trooper Jen. So glad this was caught early and are on top of it all. Thank you for sharing with us. Maybe you have reached one or two even that might need a little nudge to seek out a visit with a doctor and get a test or two that is over due. That would be wonderful. You seem in good spirits, you look like you are feeling well. I am keeping you in my prayers. You are so right saying we get caught up in everyone else while putting ourselves on the back burner, health wise for sure. See you soon. Take care!

Oh Jen, I'll be thinking of you so much. I had breast cancer and radiation and I've been clear for a year and a half now and I go for snother mammogram in June, to be checked once again. The least I can do! I believe in mammograms. My cancer was so tiny, they sent me to another clinic, where they could see it easier, and they found more cancer that was feathered. It took 2 surgeries to get it all. I am very thankful. I had no symptoms and no family history of any cancer so it was shocking. Hopefully you won't have yo go through all that, but if you do, I have a feeling, that you'd have the best of care, like I did! ❤🤗❤️ I'm wishing you the best!! 💝

I refused my MRI to save $$. Had a double mastectomy. My tumor was huge- 9.5 cm. Good luck huny❤

I had a mastectomy, now my mammograms only take half the time. Also my husband now calls me the One Tit Wonder! People get very upset when we make jokes about it I am so happy that you can laugh through the tears! I hope everything went well.

I need to schedule my now. I have been putting it off for no obvious reason. I lost my son in April after 45 days in ICU. My dr has always urged me to take care of myself because 'whos going to tale care of Joseph.' I guess now i have to do it for me. I feel like i am not strong enough to deal with anything else at this point....but neither is my husband.
Never had a seed before. I had two suspicious areas. While my breast was in the visegripe they inserted two metal wires. The lady asked if it was my 1st cancer??? I said I guess so. That was my 16th breast surgery. It was not cancer. They took a quarter of the breast but he was very pleased with how it healed. So was I. Mammogram’s have come along way since my first one. Where I live in Canada, we pay 0 dollars for health care. Good thing cause my body looks like a roadmap for dinky cars😂😂💕🇨🇦

I have to have the Breast mri and rotating mammogram. Yes the Brest MRI is very painful. Hope the surgery works out well. You already had the hard part done.

I had a cat scan that took literal seconds. It was $10k. I owed 2k after insurance. It’s a racket.
Having lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy next Wednesday, Savy Scout placement day before. Diagnosed invasive ductal cancer in December and finally got a surgery date…ridiculous! And yes breast MRI is torturous with your face smashed into head holding contraption, boobs dangling in donut holes and lying in such an uncomfortable position that seemed like an eternity! Saying prayer for you for clean margins and negative biopsy results.
I've had to have a LOT of MRIs for a condition with my neck and arm, never paid more than $100 out of pocket, even when I had the worst bare bones insurance. They charge some US insurance companies massive amounts (like $8k) because they know they will cover most of it. MRI costs are only that "high" because the clinic/hospital can get away with charging that much to your specific insurance. If you went in as self-pay you wouldn't be charged $8000.

I’m going through breast cancer treatment right now. I’ll be thinking about you. I hope everything works out. I know what you mean by those breast MRIs. You have to lay on your stomach and each tata has to hang down into a little cubicle. (For those that don’t know)
