A year and a few months ago you started your weight loss journey. I know bc i started mine at the same time. Im a nurse like you. I struggled with my weight my whole life. I ate pretty well an stayed active. I just could not lose the weight. I tried metformin, didnt work. I started Mounjaro 1 year ago and today i am down over 90 lbs and hit my goal weight. Something i could of never did on my own. It reversed my fatty liver disease, high BP, high cholesterol, high blood sugars, arthritis, PCOS and my obesity. I even got pregnant at age 43 on mounjaro. Alot of people think they can do it on their own but GLP1s are helping people. It helped me stay in a calorie defecit and never feel hungry. It also made me feel better and gave me more energy to be able to work out more. Just something for you to look into. I know you mention mounjaro in your video and said you have the food noise under control but mounjaro can work on a molecular level to balance out metabolism and boost weight loss.

I’ve had weight issues all my life. Then I had a diagnosis that finally pushed me to do it. I did it. I’ve lost 30lbs in 8 months & it will be a year this July 26. No help from any medicines. I did it myself by keeping my daily glucose levels between 74-107. I stopped soda & orange juice, then watched my carbs & still do. I test my glucose (prick my fingers) every day & that’s my guide. I don’t count calories at all, just glucose levels. It’s been so easy for me to do. All my doctors are happy & impressed with my method. I keep a daily log & show my drs. I’m happy & buying new clothes. Did I mention I’m 71 yrs old. Just wanted to share. Good luck.

That's great news!! I wish more people understood that the key to losing weight is definitely with cutting their carb intake, which automatically reduces your glucose levels. It also reduces your bodies insulin production. Those issues are at the heart of weight gain/loss issues. Insulin is a hormone and when you eat, anything, but carbs the very most, your insulin levels rise and it causes weight gain and prevents weight loss. Just like balancing any of your hormones, it is the most important one for weight issues. If you reduce your carbs and do nothing else, you will automatically reduce your weight. If you do decide to exercise, even better. But, if you go back to old habits and the standard American diet, then you WILL fail EVERY SINGLE TIME and gain the weight back and usually double the weight loss amount. Besides losing weight, you will cure SOOOO many other health issues too!

I've been overweight my whole life. I'm going to be 59 this year. I'm coming up on my 30th wedding anniversary in July. I've been with my husband for 33 years. He's never seen me not heavy. My highest has been 340. I have been on so many diets in my life and I failed. I'm talking Cambridge, weight watchers, low carb etc.etc. Two years ago I decided I'm going to stop looking at this as a diet. The first thing I had to do is learn how to eat breakfast. For 56 years I never ate breakfast. Now it's been 3 years now and I'm down to 169. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Quitting smoking was the easiest 24 years ago. We had no children. I swim 1 hour a day, everyday. Walk 3 miles a day. I stay at 1380 calories a day. I eat whatever I want. For breakfast I have an English muffin a slice of cheese two slices of ham a tablespoon of butter and an 8 oz glass of sugar-free juice. For lunch is usually our dinner our big meal it could be anything from tacos to hamburgers and fries to spaghetti. For dinner at my cottage cheese a little bit of brown sugar because I will not eat it without sliced peaches and some cinnamon. I do also account for my snacks that are in there. I try to drink one protein drink a day. If there's any words of advice I can give to anybody out there how to achieve this weight loss coming from somebody who has been on every diet that has existed in my last 59 years. To stop calling it a diet eat what everybody else is eating and eat in moderation. I have kept a journal of what my pictures look like as my weight has come down. My husband is very proud of me. My perseverance is amazing to him. And I am now maintaining at 165 170 I kind of go back and forth. I had to purchase all new clothing so I think I'm just going to stay where I'm at and continue to maintain. Good Luck!

That is awesome!! I know that his what needs to be done. I'm about to turn 50 and type 2 diabetic and know that I need to cut carbs more. I do make choices to eat better but I have a sweet tooth, Not a serious one. But I like cake and ice cream.....I'm working on it. I have an upcoming appmnt for diabetes. Not excited because my numbers have been high. Increasing my evening walks and cutting my portions of carbs. But I know I need more activity!

I was a midwife and birth worker for 32 years, mostly for home births. Women having home births work hard to "do it themselves," - all natural. But when the pain makes them struggle and suffer, we move to the hospital for an epidural. Reading through these comments, it saddens me how many people use the word "struggle." I know that world, started dieting at 10 and now I'm 63. Trulicity first, and now Mounjaro, are my epidural. Starting very, very sick at 405 lbs (for a decade and not under 350 in almost 3 decades), 2 years later, every lab is normal. My liver, kidneys, pancreas, heart, lungs, etc. have healed. I am also down 225 lbs. I no longer struggle. The best part is: I Am Alive. There is no shame in asking for help.

Omg! I just listened to her on the Huberman Lab podcast and I listened to the whole 3 hour conversation! At the end she said she asks all of her patients this question: “Do you feel worthy of feeling good?” And she said if you don’t feel worthy of health and feeling good, then you will sabotage yourself over and over! That really struck a chord with me because I don’t know if I feel worthy of feeling good….something to think about. Thanks for this video, Jen! ❤

Thank you for being so transparent about your weight loss journey. I have been overweight for most of my life. When I turned 50, I decided enough was enough. I lost 45 pounds in under 2 years and it was hard! Now I am trying to maintain that weight and loose about 10 more pounds. The amount of mental space thinking about food, what I ate that day, why the scale went up overnight, etc, takes up in the brain is unreal. I completely identify with so much you said in this video. Mindset is so much of what it takes to make a change and get closer to your goals. Great video!

I started following Jordan syatt a couple years ago and he is all about sustainable weight loss while building muscle. I would highly recommend listening to his latest podcast where a guest talked about losing 100 lbs over the course of 19 months and her entire journey. Extremely motivating and also comforting knowing it won’t happen in a month. At the end, it’s all about building healthy habits that become a lifestyle and not a trend

I am retired now but when I traveled for work, a mini rice cooker enabled me to cook in my hotel room and avoid overly processed foods. I could not only cook grains but steam vegetables and poach proteins. I usually packed sandwich bags of rice, lentils, and oatmeal. Even if I couldn’t find a grocery store, most local restaurants could provide a chicken breast or fish and vegetables that I could cook in the rice cooker. The RUclips channel, Theory of Simple, has good content on cooking in your hotel room.

Thank you for bringing this topic up! It can be overwhelming thinking about losing weight every damn day.
I have reached my goal weight, but I have to work at it every minute, it seems.
I did the vsg and lost 20 lbs. So I am a bariatric surgery failure. I gave up for a couple of years. In 2022, I was made a grandma and boy did that change my attitude. I dug deep and got to losing weight so I can be healthy. My way isn't for everyone. I did the ketovore diet for a year and a half...I'm still doing low carb. I did lose 50 lbs in a little over a year. I know it's very slow but I kept at it. Everyone needs to find out what works for them.
    I now walk a 5k a day five days a week.
I tried resistance training and it's not something I want to do. It is painful so I don't do it. I know i should but I just don't want to.
I track EVERY calorie and macros and will do so for the rest of my life. My max calorie per day is only 1,000. It's low but my metabolism is low. I do supplement with vitamins and magnesium and iron. I also do one LMNT/day.
Good luck on your journey. You can do whatever you put your mind to.

Love this video! Thank you for the motivation. This video is great. I too am overweight and my health has been on my mind for a long time. For anyone who has heavy periods and you aren't paying really close attention to all of the other ways you don't feel well, please see your gynecologist. I didn't and ended up in the ER needing 4 pints of blood because I was functioning on lower and lower levels of blood and was losing blood faster than my body could make it. That level of exhaustion that Jen is talking about is very serious and creeps up on you. I ended up having a hysterectomy at 32 and it was the best thing that has happened to me. I felt my sense of life start over again and it really brought home how serious abnormal periods can be.

Great video Jen! The getting ready for the day definitely resonates with me. I’m going to work on the is as well as some of the other tips. I love how a lot of the tips you named can also go for other areas. Best advice for driving I ever got & one that I drill into my daughter probably weekly is that if you don’t do anything else check your blind spot & don’t drive within someone’s blind spot. Regardless of whether my vehicle or their vehicle has the yellow light on the side mirrors or not. This has saved me soooo many times. I started driving at 16 I’m now 44 & there’s not a time that I don’t do this. 2nd tip is no brand new cars. They need a point a to point b car that can take a few dings.

Your depression had my really worried(no joke) I look forward to your journey and being here to watch it. I taught our oldest granddaughter to drive. At every stop sign with a "free" right turn I would ask her, "what are you planning to do?" She would reply and I would say that no one around you knows that you are turning right because you do NOT have your "indicator" light on to inform them. Thank you so much for sharing these tips! I have already put both books in my Amazon cart. LOL It's been recommended to me (cardiac/GI health problems) that I go on the Mediterranean Diet way of eating. My big struggle with this is that I also still have to prepare meals for my husband (who hates fish..lol), 3 kids, and my in-laws who live with us (and who have their own share of picky diet choices...lol). It can get exhausting trying to figure out what I'm making (or making multiple options) for every meal. My mom used to use the "opinions are like...." analogy all the time. Thanks for the laugh! I would love to know the calorie info and such, for what you eat in your videos. I find that stuff highly motivating! Also, you were talking about the RUclips videos that you listen to on your walks, would you be willing to share them? I'm looking forward to following your progress! Thanks again! ~ Stephanie

Another motivating video! I’ve been preoccupied with my weight since late adolescence 😢. At this stage of my life, it’s about aging “gracefully “- arthritis to my thumb joints and some back pain with neuropathy down my right leg_
it’s even more important to manage my weight and keep active. Keep up your good work!!

I also travel frequently for business, 2-4 times per month. It’s sometimes a struggle to find healthy options, especially in an airport or when you’re on a time crunch.

Such a good video! Driving tips: once she can do the basic, start taking long drives. Having tiny short drives is like starting over every time. A long drive seals in the muscle memory and gets them to relax. So once my daughter could do the basics, we took off on a state highway with hills and curves and drove to a town 45 minutes away and had lunch at a fun little cafe. Then we drove home. She made a huge leap. Then work up to going on the interstate to somewhere a couple of hours away. And then also just have her drive you around everywhere when possible.

I travel quite a bit as well and I have found (when I'm exercising) strength bands are the way to go. You can roll them or fold them, stuff them inside your shoes in the suitcase. I do them while I'm watching the TV in the room. I'm not saying I do this every time I travel but you know, do as I say, not as I do. 😃

I was sitting at the kitchen table watching you on my phone and then when you said what you did about walking and listening, and I thought I should be doing that! so pressed pause and got my shoes on and walked my dog!

It was perfect! Aside from that, I just want to say you've got this! Do whatever is healthy and makes sense for your body. So many people don't realize how different everyone's body is. 🧡

Hi Jenn, I've gone from 248 to 179 and it is so much work. But I've struggled my entire life and am finally finding success in this area at 60 years old. It is so much work, but keeping busy and making moderate changes have been key. It's taken me over a year and a half so far and still have a ways to go since I'm only 5'1". Thanks for the tips -- building muscle and eating enough protein are my new goals are I get closer to where I want to be. Driving Lessons: Stay calm and keep lessons short but frequent.

Last night i had a terrible sleep and i was exhausted all day. Sleep is way more important than ppl realize.

I weighed 230 lbs, I started protein forward diet. That was over 2yrs ago. With diet an exercise. Last year I had dropped down to 180 lbs and was told that I was getting full replacement knee's for both legs. By December of last year I was down to 150 lbs I have lost over 85lbs over 2yrs. My current weight is 145.lbs and I've kept it off. I never would have done anything about my weight if it wasn't for you. So I appreciate all you do. TFS Sweetie Hug's 💙🫂🥰🦋🌻

Jen, you inspired me, too, last year. I started lap swimming 4-5 days a week, and reduced my calories using a food tracking app and my Apple Watch. I’m down 80 pounds as of March this year, and have stayed within 5 pounds of my goal weight since then. I did have to buy new clothes, as my former “thin” clothes were still too big! Your can do spirit and continuing efforts to succeed have benefited me SO much. TFS what you post! I wish you all success as you move forward.

Hi Jen👋🏼 Get a fabric measuring tape as your successes will be in inches lost, not pounds on the scale…try to weigh yourself once a week, same time…purchase a Hot Logic or similar item for warming up meals when your hotel room doesn’t have a microwave…pack workout clothes when you go on trips and have a backup plan in case hotel doesn’t have a gym (bring resistance bands to do strength training in your room)…these are just a few ideas to help you reach your goals! So happy for you! You got this !!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Great video Jen! I could totally related when you talked about your weight consuming your thoughts for days, weeks, years, decades. It has been my cross to bear since I started working decades ago and always at a desk job. I have trouble getting enough protein in my diet and can tell I'm losing muscle mass as I age. You were motivating for me. Good luck to both of us!

For several years i struggled hard with my weight. Freshman year of college got me good. Then i would yoyo. Heavy in the fall/winter and crash diets for spring and summer and never getting back to a healthy weight in a healthy way. Fast forward about 5 years out of college i finally had enough. I got diagnosed as an insulin dependent diabetic and was over 200. So I knew i had to change and nothing i did in the past was truly working. i felt hopeless so I decided to eat like a healthier weight version of myself. I did an online calculator to figure out what maintenance calories were for each goal weight tier i wanted to be and just ate that. So i went 185, 170, 160...and so on. I'd hit one goal and recalculate the maintenance calories for the next goal down. Was it a slow process...yes, but have i now kept the weight off for years also yes.

Yes I am impressed with how our body can improve itself. I enjoy looking at my sleep levels. Your watch will keep track of your balance and so much more.
Back when I went to the doctor in November she was worried about my blood pressure levels. We talked about if I wanted to be on blood pressure medication then. She suggested some changes that would help to change it. I improved my water intake, upped my steps, and reduced my fast foods. Yes she mentioned the cardio health.
My heart have mentioned that my sleep have improved over the past week.

I have been lowering calories 200-300 from maintenance, which is higher than people think for some people! I'm tall like you and I don't think people could guess my weight. I think it also helps to lower the calories a little at a time so you have room to reduce a little more after you lose some weight. I'm in the same boat of constantly worrying about my weight and that I haven't lost or stuck to anything the last few years... life has "lifed" me pretty hard the last 3 years! I'm giving myself grace and just keep trying every day or week, not worrying about how long it takes. Just working on my habits to be sustained.

Your lifestyle plan sounds awesome! Tweak as you need to and just do what you can. =) As for your daughter's driving, the first thing I said to my niece when beginning to drive is this may seem like fun, but you are now responsible for your well being along with all others on the road. The car weighs 2 tons and a is weapon if not respected. This scared her and made her take driving seriously. Then, it was practice, practice, practice. Best wishes! I'm sure you'll both survive this next milestone! =)
