I gained almost ALL the weight back. 😣 How I am getting back on track.

Sue here: no, not a failure. Weight and failure do not belong in the same sentence, Jen. Weight has nothing to do with failure. Some of us will fight the extra weight lifelong! Other people have other problems - we have the weight thing. We can still be healthy and love life and love cooking and love eating. And we will lose weight, and gain weight, 😮 but we can still keep working at it until we feel comfortable and healthy. Thank you so much for all your encouragement and hard work. Thank you for putting yourself 'out there' to motivate us too😊🧡.

You are not close to being done with anything. I did not like exercise but I can walk. Every morning before work and in the evenings (45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours) whatever time I could. Just became a part of my daily routine. Made me feel so good. You will figure out you, what will work for you. You are a beautiful person inside and out and I am here cheering you to that finish line where ever that might be. Stay positive. You have quite a sense of humor that helps you through as well. In late October of 2022 I started going on walks with my husband ( at almost 300lbs) short walks but we went every day, it meant snow and ice gear in the winter (and spring , we're in Canada) We took tea, picnic lunches ,started foraging, anything to make it more interesting. I now walk 6-10k a day at soon to be 53 years old( 4-6 1/2 miles) and have lost 85lbs,I'm still not under 200lbs but I'm getting there. I'm sure if I changed my eating habits I'd get there faster but I like calorie rich foods ( butter and cheese are life)

But the best part of being on Wegovy is that the food noise in my head has stopped!!!! I don’t think about food constantly. I don’t focus on how many calories or points or whatever I have left for the day. I eat the same dinner as my family. I’m not obsessed with a diet and I finally feel free! I’m gastric sleeve failure, I get pissed when asked where I am in my “journey”, I am older than you and the knees are gone etc etc. I’m barely pre diabetic, but the copay on Ozempic was $400…so screw that. I am SO damn tired of HAVING to think about what I eat every waking moment! I’m just old and cranky enough to decide I’m through with that. By now I know what I should or shouldn’t eat and how much (1-2 slices of pizza…not the whole pizza) and I think I’m doing a pretty good job with my on the spot choices. Love you girl! Isn’t it funny that people think we don’t know about our weight and they feel obligated to point it out. (Yeah BITCH? Well your concealer isn’t concealing a thing!!). …..I told you I’m cranky🫢. Thank you so much for this video. I first found your channel with a failed bariatric search. I was so frustrated that my surgery didn't "work" and everyone on youtube who had had it was successful. It was the reality of what I needed to hear. It does not work for everyone and it rarely allows you to loose all the weight you want. I have battled with my weight all my life and you make me feel normal in my struggle, and optimistic to keep trying. Thank you so much. I couldn't imagine how hard it is for you to put your journey out for the public.
With exercise, I found a CrossFit like gym that I go to twice a week. It is classes so I have to go at certain times on certain days which gets my ass in there, also it is the same people so they are now friends and support. On off days I walk. Either with my very slow dog, or to the pub and back for lunch with my husband (I'm in the UK so Pubs are more like restaurants, we don't day drink, lol), or to the caffe and back, or to do some sketching. Having a reward or purpose involved helps me make it happen.

I have discovered I enjoy water exercise - so the Y has all kinds of water aerobics classes plus swimming laps. I also enjoy Zumba and stuff that feels more like dancing, but I still hate sweating! All the diabetic injections caused severe stomach issues for me so I have an appointment with a weight loss specialist in February. In the meantime I will track macros and calories on MFP and hope to gain at least some kind of control before then. Thank you for posting your absolutely relatable truth. We are in this together. I felt ok, and unbelievable, the noise for food does go away. My doctor said that as I get to the end of the week, you may start feeling hungry again, and then you knows it’s probably close to the day for the next injection. I will take this weekly. As a 36 y/o woman who has fluctuated everywhere from 350lbs to 175lbs in their adult life - I FEEL YOU GIRL! I've been told SO MANY times to "just lose weight" to fix my problems by Dr's. I was in my mid-twenties when I weighed 175 and I was eating so few calories a day I was literally blacking out and my Dr was like "Well, once you get down to your bodies healthy weight (in his opinion, 135) it will stop causing that to happen. Your body is telling you to lose weight." The things we deal with is completely ridiculous.
I'll leave you with a thought that I've used to get me through the high-highs of my weight issues: I come from a family of addicts. Smokers, drinkers, pain meds, the harder stuff. There are a massive amount of addicts in my family. I know that my addiction is food. I get it. But the difference between food and every other addiction you can have is that you have to have food to live. You can't quit food cold turkey. You can't just stop buying it so its not in the house to temp you. You literally need it to live. For those of us who struggle with it, it will always be a struggle. Sometimes my will power is stronger than others.
I wish you the best of luck with finding out what's going on surgery wise and may you continue to give yourself some grace in all aspects of your life.

Pre-diabetic here for years since having gestational diabetes and struggling to control it without meds. The food noise in my head is also a constant. Let's cheer each other on in 2024! Love you...and you feel like a friend too!❤❤

I know I’m super late 🤦‍♀️ But I absolutely adore you. Jen, you are so beautiful inside and out. You’re an incredible mom and wife. I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life. I’ve been waiting for wegovy since July 2023 because of it being on back order. Just remember to give yourself grace. You are doing amazing. I can’t imagine how difficult this journey has been. But I do know, in the end, all things will work out beautiful. Thank you for always sharing your story and being vulnerable. It’s not easy. We all support you ♥️♥️

This sounds like my life from the age of 12 to 64. Diabetes forced a change. Mounjaro has been a life saver for me. Lost just short of 50 lbs. Normal blood pressure and glucose levels. I can now live life without thinking about food constantly.

Plantar fasciitis is horrible! I've had it in both feet. Once it was so bad I went to the podiatrist. I got a nice injection, taped up my feet and was given some cushioned inserts for shoes. Right now it's not so bad thank goodness. I have struggled with my weight as well. I have 60lbs to lose. I don't mind exercising once I get into it but it's the getting into it that is hard! Getting a good schedule/routine going. I feel great once I get going lol! My sister had stage 3 breast cancer and my insurance told me they would not cover the BRCA testing. I don't think the lady knew what she was talking about because she said we can't cover it just for exploratory reasons, WHAT??? I need to call again. Wishing you the best on the injections, can't wait to see your progress.

Jen, just keep being a smart ass. Obviously it’s needed. Who are these people who think it is appropriate or up to them to make these extremely rude comments!!! I try not to give out “advice” but I will just state my opinion, that you do not owe anyone anything. It is not your job to be or look a certain way to make strangers happy. Also, on a personal note, I am not around a lot of people who are willing to speak candidly about their health and related matters and I have learned a lot from you just speaking your thoughts.

I believe we all come into this world with one main challenge. Some people come with a physical disability, some with a mental health challenge, some with a family situation challenge, some with a recurring financial challenge, some with a weight challenge, etc. You’re not even close to being a failure. In fact, you can’t fail. This is just your challenge to work with. I have the same weight challenge. And I try something, fail sometimes, learn, grow, succeed and start again from a new place. It is truly the human condition. You’re doing great! And you’re very brave to share your challenge so openly.

I’ve been going through a very similar situation. Honestly you and I are a lot alike from our childhood and how it shaped us (good and bad), our smartass mouths😂, our weight issues and history with doctors, severe depression and anxiety since childhood, and now our boob issues! Sorry you had to join that club! I’ve been monitoring with mammograms and ultrasounds every 6 months for the last 3 years. 2 years ago I had 3 biopsies and 1 can back concerning. Had the lump removed (no further treatment because of clear margins) and it came back precancerous which is why I’m still going through monitoring. My genetic testing came back all clear (not a carrier for anything) and hopefully my next round of imaging comes back unchanged and I can switch to yearly monitoring. All that being said I know that worrying is hard not to do when you have kids but you have to try your best to just create and focus on plans a through z because those are what will keep you sane. I know I just kept reminding myself that I survived so much worse when I was a kid I will be damned if my tits kill me lol. You will be ok no matter how it plays out. And as for the trolls-let them see you smiling and joking because it hurts them worse than anything you can ever say to them!

I’ve been taking Ozempic for 10 months. I’ve lost 45 pounds. I was pre diabetic. I’ve spent most my life on a diet. This medication works. My obsession with food has diminished significantly. Wagovy is exactly the same medication as Ozempic but it is a larger dose. I’ve also taken Rybelsus. I’m sixty six and have severe spinal stenosis and was having a lot of pain plus difficulty getting around with out a cane. This medication does cause nausea and constipation as well. But the most important side effect is not obsessing over food. That has been huge. Obesity is a disease and it’s about time the medical community started treating it as a disease.

Thanks for sharing! I take Monjaro for diabetes and it has worked wonders on lowering my A1c! In this process, I have loss weight. Due to all the side effects of the meds( stomach issues, loss the taste of many foods etc.. ) I stayed on it because it has lowered my A1c and the symptoms are almost gone! The thing is for it to keep working as a weight loss you have to up the dose and go through all the side effects... yuck! Not sure if i would go through it again. I know several others who take it and the side effects are a bit much but it does work. The thing is you still have to eat right and exercise. I have struggled with weight and it does get frustrating! Thank you for sharing.. it helps to see others on the same journey

Jen! I don’t understand taking electrolytes on a daily basis! If your urine is pale you are not dehydrated. Electrolytes are for when you get dehydrated from a strenuous workout, extreme heat, vomiting, diarrhoea or drinking too much alcohol.
They contain sodium which makes you thirsty and you want to drink more. Plus, we all normally have enough salt and too much is not good for us.
    Please rethink this ❤

It’s a real struggle for me too. I do lots of short term goals with exercise. I’ll commit to 60 days of walking for a specific amount time and I find I can make it a priority for short periods of time. After I meet the goal I celebrate with a non food gift and then start the goal again. My brain can only deal with short term

He's starting a shot next month to see if it kicks start his weight loss with our diet changes. Fingers crossed. Good luck

Jen, thanks for sharing with us. Don’t give up with your weight loss efforts it will eventually happen. I too am on a weight loss journey. I’m an Asthmatic and at the beginning of COVID had two serious episodes. Of course I was put on prednisone. Due to I wasn’t responding as usual, my pulmonologist increased the dose. This had to be done both times I had an episode. I am 73 years young, can’t exercise due to having had three Back surgeries and a second Knee Replacement 12 weeks ago. To say the least I have gained 70 pounds. In the past I’ve been able to shed the prednisone weight within a year, but this time it’s holding on. I’ve gone from a size 10 to a 16 and I’m only 5’3”. I have a family history of Heart Failure and High Cholesterol, which I have been diagnosed with since this weight gain. I’m also now Diabetic. To say the least…I’m not happy. I’ve said all the above, because I do know how you feel, but don’t let what others may say or think matter. They aren’t in our skin. We know what we are going through and what we are striving towards. You will eventually get to where you want to as long as you don’t give up. I love your Vlog and its content.
    Valerie

    80% of WLS “fail.”
They pretend that they address the mental reasons we have an eating disorder or disordered eating prior to surgery, but they don’t
I’m T2D. My primary care doctor encouraged me to adopt the Mediterranean way of eating/lifestyle after I hit gaining back almost every pound I lost from my VGS.
3 years later (almost), returning to monthly weigh ins with my bariatric clinic, started on Ozempic (March 2023), staying with Mediterranean, learning portion control, exercising every day, and working with a disordered eating therapist, I have lost 110 pounds, 70 more to go.
Then I am eligible for skin removal surgery.
The Ozempic allowed me to bring my A1c down to a 6.0 (and still coming down). It’s been a blessing to replace the GLP1 receptors that no longer exist in my body.
It’s by no means an easy way. You still need to adjust your portions, be in a calorie deficit, eat healthy, keep your calories in-line with your nutritional needs, and figure out what causes your disordered eating.

First of all, thanks for sharing. This is a touchy subject for my family, as my husband is diabetic, and had just started ozempic, when we were told that he can no longer recieve this as there was a "world wide shortage" due to the high demand. Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just giving a different perspective. I know people that are overweight should have access, but if there's no underlying life threatening condition, I think perhaps those who DO have one should get first chance at the medication. And so far in our country (Canada) there are no alternatives. So, we wait, and wait some more. I wish you the best in your efforts. Truly.

My RYGB is not damaged, still limits the amount I can eat plus dumping syndrome if I eat too much of the certain foods. I now take Ozempic, just 1 mg, for diabetes management. It definitely quiets the food cravings. Never giving up on my health, working to get 27 more lbs off.
