This is absolutely outstanding. There are so few tutorials for learning the Data Channel in 3ds Max. I’ve occasionally checked them out, but I never felt the urge to dive deeper. You explain it in such an interesting way. I hope you'll create another tutorial in the future on how to use this amazing tool.
the mesh smooth un-apply to whole selection just blew my mind - I have been searching for this one for decades and have used more complicated destructive and slow methods. Thank you!!!!
The mesh smooth option just blown my mind 🤯😂 Having details only where they should be, is fantastic! Yeah, Data channel it's not so easy to learn, but, worth it. Thank you a lot for the content. It really help and lead us to explore more about this tool.
Awesome tutorial on procedural rust with the Data Channel in 3ds Max! 🛠🎨 The techniques you demonstrated are incredibly useful for adding realistic textures. Your explanations made complex concepts much clearer. Thanks for sharing these great insights and tips-can’t wait to try this out in my own projects! 🚀📐
Just remember that data channel is dependant on topology, so make sure to add a few edges to those borders so that data channel can grab onto something

Great vid! Data channel modifier is overpowered - every max user should learn it.

6:14 - Hilarious. I sing, "Smooth Operator" by Sade, when I put it in the Data Channel, as well. 😂👍 Another _excellent_ post. Invaluable. Thank you!
How can you NOT do that hahaha

Great Vid, Thanks, I Gotta Feeling......that [Data Channel] is kind of Advanced [Volume Select] Modifier, that's it!
dude! nice one!! you explained it really good
Nice tutorial.. i still didnt dive into data channel so much .. but the meshsmooth trick is awesome
realy great video :) good work!
Love it!
Supercool, thx❤
this video was truly spectacular, I am very interested in applying this technique to concrete structure imperfections.

That is very cool.
Seems like a rust script would be possible to make.
Thanks for that, really good!
Awesome
Can make tutorial on vertex paint in 3ds max tutorial it is very helpful ❤🥺
If the effect was inverted, the rust could easily become welding artifacts.
That's the whole point, this thing is endless with what it could be used for
works with 0.99 and not with 1 because with 1 it cycles the thing 😅
Totally makes sense, but I still don't get why the default vale is min: -5000 and max: 5000
