Mark's playing and energy in those early years was fantastic. So fresh and vibrant. What a cool guy, not leaving out the rest of the band. They were ace. X
Flea ? I remember having arguments with an old colleague of mine in around 1989 about who was better, Flea or Mark King, he was determined to say that Flea was better. Totally deluded 😂😂😂😂😂
I've got both of their German 'Rockpalast' shows (from 83 and 84 respectively) in their entirety on DVD, along with a short bonus interview with all four original menbers of the band. Anyway, I have to say that both the picture and sound quality for each gig on the DVD is much sharper than shown here. Although it's now long deleted, I'd still highly recommend it as one for fellow 'Levelheads' to look out for.
As do I.. As soon I saw it advertised online , many year's ago & when it was first released on DVD I ordered it but I forgot that it was 2 separate live gigs from the same German TV Music Show " Rockpolast " until it arrived... There was about just before 1 year between both Live Shows on Rockpolast TV Show & I only remembered there were 2 Live Shows once it was delivered to my home & I was thrilled about having 2 On 1 DVD Live Shows that was recorded with the original line up & of course Mark playing his JD Supernatural Series Bass Guitar's which apart from the Recorded at Wembley Live Show I don't think there any other Level 42 Live Shows recorded for VCRs & then remastered for DVD Player's while Mark King still played his John Diggin's range of JD Supernatural Series Bass Guitar's... I urge Level 42 fans to buy this 2 In 1 Live Shows on DVD asap as who knows how long they will keep making copies of this particular 2 In 1 DVD Live Shows on DVD from the German TV Show Rockpolast & they might stop making DVD copies!.. In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and it's variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... .....
FIne funk bass in this performance . Reminds me of Sly and the Family Stone's bassist Larry Graham's style . He called it hand wacka or thumb wacka, can't remember which
Yeah I've heard Larry call it a couple things like thumping and plucking. Today I've heard most people call it slap bass, and ever since he popularized it I've seen it all over funk, and I love how Mark King brought slap into a more popular music style for more people to hear.
I had a pair of high top sneakers like M King is wearing on his feet . Can't remember if they were Puma(r) or Nike(r) brand . Those were the days when i used lots of duct tape to make my basketball shoes last . duct tape = handy man's most versatile tool .
Mark plays that bass like a machine gun and the drummer plays the sound effects.
Jazz funk heaven ! Must be so much fun to be able to play this.
mark king forever ! best bass player performer singer of the world by far ! english people are really musically in another planet !

That bass totally over powers everything 😆😆
Amazing bass,,how sweet the sound that saved a wrech like me
And in a lot of bass player polls they rank Mark below the likes of flea! Bloody having a laugh. These 4 are The Band.
Those polls are bullshit we all know that

Good memories! Thanks David for the upload.
Thank you for finding these & sharing.
