The more problems a car has, the happier Scotty becomes.
Once he starts laughing thats when the engine blows up 😂😂
Or any mechanic because that's money coming in 💰
Hmm depends. Some build their business in ways that doesn't benefit from the mistreatment of others. Not all Mechanics do this.
@@draxuno, if a car has problems, of course it has to be fixed. I don't blame the mechanic. I blame the manufacturer.
My problem is when a dishonest mechanic wants to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Example: replacing belts, bearings, tie rods, brake pads etc. when they are still in good working order. Many mechanics/dealers often recommend unnecessary repairs so they can make money.
Lexus cars have 0 problems so Mechanic's won't make any money 💰 there is nothing to work on.
I love the sticker “it’s a hybrid, it burns gas and oil” lol. Gotta love the sense of humor from the owner.

The original hybrid that burned has and oil were Trabant and Wartburg from East Germany :)

I heard the story. When they replace Toyota transmission fluid, they have to measure temperature to refill fluid. However, technicians in dealership skip that step. They refill fluid whatever temperature is like mechanics do in auto shop. And then, customers are charged more than an auto shop.

My 2000 Camry 4cyl has 288,000 miles and doesn't and has never burned a drop of oil, it's scary how well built this car is .
Not scary at all.. it's fantastic.
Toyota makes good cars, that’s why the Camry beat the Taurus in the 90’s, among other things, lol
They're good cars. If I needed a commuter I usually look at what kind of car they have for taxi. It's a good indication of what car is reliable.
One of my co-workers had a 2001. He just recently sold it with 200,000 miles on it and had no issues with the car at all except regular maintenance.
@@ryanwiseman9141 My college roommate bought a brand-new Taurus. Total lemon.
I own a 2011 Kia Sorento with over 250k on it now. Besides minor work due to wear and tear that I have done in the garage at home, zero issues. So many cars and trucks have passed through my possession over the years, and I am still absolutely surprised the old Kia Sorento has been the most reliable and durable. In my experience, every car brand will have serious issues with their car lines from time to time. And none of them will own up to the issues and properly take care of their customers. Despite doing your best research, buying a vehicle is unfortunately a very expensive roll of the dice - and a game most of us have to play.
sorentos are sweet love mine
That's before they started to sell cars with GDI engines. I'm pretty sure yours is MPI.
I have a 2011 Kia Sorento V6 170000 me not one problem
2013 Kia Sorento here. 151k miles. Replaced wheel bearings, changed oils and fluids and nothing else. Rock solid.
Scotty, I am a retired electrician and to me I think there is a parasitic short to ground somewhere in the wiring harness. Those problems are very hard to find. If it were me I think I would pull accessory fuses one by one. If you pull a fuse and the alternator voltage increases, that circuit may be your stating point. Again, I love your videos!
The more aftermarket kit the more nightmares lol
Excellent suggestion !😊
Thank you Sir!@@dhmalcolm
@electrician248
If you want to find draws the easy way on a car, get yourself an Amp Hound. One of the best tools I own for diagnosing parasitic drains.
I think I may go back to my "plan A" Find
All I can say is when I was looking for a new (to me) car in my senior year of college I was watching Scotty videos left and right. Paid $2,000 for a Mercury Grand Marquis on his recommendation and have had nothing but regular maintenance to do on an 18 year old car. Listen to Scotty folks.
Good car. Like a Crown Vic. Any car the cops choose is going to be a good choice.
@@Dannysoutherner Why don't they have Toyota Camrys then? 😆
@@WisconsinRailfan22 too little. Wouldn't do for pitting a runner. I saw a runner a couple of days ago. 2 police trucks had a guy in a camry or similar sedan pulled over. We were sitting at the light right next to him when he started his little car, floored it and took off up the interstate ramp. They took off after him. Then another cop took off up the surface street that parallels the interstate. Was pretty exciting.
@@Dannysoutherner yeah I bet it was! Bet they went up the parallel street in case he decided to try to exit the interstate 😆
@@WisconsinRailfan22 my guess as well. He couldn't get past us to rush into the neighborhood where he could have vanished. There are 5 limited access exits before he could have reached the real town about 10 miles away. I'm sure they had all the exits covered. Hoped news would have a story but they didn't.
My 2016 Hyundai Sonata leaked oil from the day we bought it brand new. After the engine blew at 140k miles, and I mean blew a hole in the side the size of my fist, they replaced the engine and it still leaked. They replaced the head gasket and it still leaked, took it back and they said nothing they could do because we'd put 10k miles on it since the new engine had been put in (we put 30k+ miles on our vehicles a year). Took it to another mechanic and he replaced the head gasket again. It still leaked, took it back and he found a leak on the oil pan. He fixed that free since he misdiagnosed the first time. That was 40k miles ago and there's not been a leak since. Never trust the Hyundai mechanics.
I bought 2 brand new kia Sorentos. First one was a 2018 and was a great car. Non turbo, we traded it in at 60k miles for a 2021 Sorrento with a turbo. The trans started slipping at 25k miles. It also had a problem where it would go into "limp" mode sometimes under boost when passing another car. They gave us the run around time and time again. Never fixed that car. I traded it for a F150 and couldn't be happier.
I believe Kia went downhill in quality around 2020. I have a 2011 Kia Sedona van w/168k barely any issues (one issue under warranty) and the Kia dealer still wants me to come trade in for a newer model. Gets good mpg 23 or so and is reliable. I think that in my experience Toyota, Honda and then Mazda is the top 3 non domestic brands, and still make them great & long lasting vehicles. Just got a 2024 Camry Night edition and love it (35-40 mpg)
@@billv6832 They went down with the GDI motors...
The fact you bought 2 new cars and both were Kia’s is mind boggling to me
@@NickChemist-yf6oj Perhaps you missed the part where our first Kia was a great car. Usually, in life, as a human, we tend to go back to the well if the water is fine.
KIA: Burning a quart of oil per 1000 miles is a design feature.
Jeep: An electrical problem? No way!🙄
Hyundai: Take the bad transmission out of this car and put it in that car. Now put the bad transmission from that car in this car. Repeat until the customer stops coming back.
Bruh WTF 🤣😂
@@TedytheCreative You're welcome.😁
My daughter was just told she needs a new transmission on her 2021 Santa Fe with only 6000 miles on it
@@frankstark3036 Is it still under warranty?🤞🙏
That’s not my point it’s the fact that a transmission dies in 6000 miles is absolutely absurd. BTW very lucky that it is still under warranty. Will the next one be just as bad?
I would never buy a car I couldn't fix myself, in my garage. All the crazy electronics stresses me out. 80's and early 90's is my jam.
I agree, just went through a nightmare running down a parasitic discharge on my Chevy Silverado, a 2004 2500 HD. Only 72k miles but turns out was the instrument cluster panel, which I had to replace - a fairly common malady with these vehicles. Never had problems with my old trucks. God knows what utter crap the new ones are.
Buddy had the same issue. Drove him nuts. Mechanic figured it out but wasn't cheap just to troubleshoot.
For real man. I went a little later. 08 equinox. 225k miles. I've replaced almost everything except the engine and transmission.

You ride a 🐪🤭🤭😅🤣😂😆😛😝
@@halturt7046 No you
actually a state trooper friend of mine said they called in "Killed in Accident" cause when they come up to a crash involving a KIA, that is what happens...
Scotty you're spot on man, I work at Hyundai and have complained several times that an oil change interval of 7,000 miles is simply too long between oil changes, especially when people think they can still drive 2,000 over that! And surprise surprise when I check the oil and filter on these brand NEW cars, metal! Hyundai and Kia are shooting themselves in the foot by having to change out an engine instead of just giving out a few more 5k oil changes, instead of trying to be cheap and make them 7,000 miles out!
Have a 2013 Sonata and have done 3000 mile changes from day 1...required by the dealer to keep the warranty active.
I have a 2019 Toyota Camry. The owner's manual says that the car can be driven 10,000 miles between oil changes, and they recommend oil changes at 10K miles. While the oil is still pretty clean looking at 5,000 miles, I change it at that point to be safe. I won't get to 6K miles before I change the oil. I know Camrys are awesome cars mechanically, and can run almost forever, but I don't trust 10K oil change intervals. Also, the oil life meter comes on around 4,400 to 4,600 miles after an oil change. So that is strange as well if the manual recommends 10K miles.
@DIASISS Hyundai engines weak can’t last they always need oil changes my ford oil change is every 10k miles full synthetic
With who ever is working on my car. But because I have been doing this for 20 years so their use to me. To me they are very well put together. Now the Santa Cruz is my first Hyundai! I take this one to my KIA dealership because I Love them. At CMA. Love Santa.
If you are using Base Standard oil no not good! But now all Synthetic. I watch everything and hang out
Twister reference when I'm opening the hood. "And inside, we got hundreds of these little sensors" ~gets angry Bill Paxton face and starts walking toward the designer~
I suppose you could put hot glue around a couple of the bell housing bolts before taking the car to the dealer. When you get the car back and the glue didn't crack you'll have your answer and your proof. If they are cracked, it doesn't prove they did the work either though...
Buying a car nowadays costs HUGE. I appreciate Scotty's reviews because they will save us money
Yep and most of that cost are the Infotainment systems and Digital Clocks I mean I like that stuff but it does inflate the cost by a long shot
I can no loger effort to buy any car in America during these days! The price isa so high and the manufactured and parts from the 3rd worlds are garbage!
I wonder what neighbors first think when they see Scotty out front of his house gyrating wildly with his arms. I could foresee a little kid saying, “Mom, that man is out there flapping his arms again!” 😅
A little excited aren't you, Christ!
I like to listen to him if he doesn't keep on flapping his arms. Too irritating to watch. But, I learn a lot from him.

To be fair. I've had my 2013 kia Rio for 10 years. It started to burn oil past 180000 km. I've got almost 300000 on it now and it still goes. I'll drive it into the ground before I replace it and I feel it was a decent car for the price at the time.
This is what everyone person wants for their vehicle, an experienced mechanic who is simply upfront and honest.
I owned a Kia Optima for a couple of years.. I loved that car. Never had a problem. It was pretty quick and attractive. My friend had a Hyundai, his had 240k on it before the motor blew. He spent 2500 for a new motor and he is good to go .
That goes to show how regular maintenance can make a car last.
Either of those a GDI motor? It matters.
My wife and i just bought a used Sorento. Love the damn thing. After 2000 miles hasnt burned a drop of oil and there are no squeaks or rattles. Just a great running car.
My friends Kia Optima blew up right after 100k but the dealer said it happens so often Kia extended her warranty
@@mikehurt3290 try to get Detroit to do that. We bought our sorento when our Chevy equinox blew the engine. I had just checked the oil on it the day before and when the engine blew there was no oil.
Crazy how a 2005 Kia spectra holds up better than certain newer models at 50k miles
No GDI...
I’m really enjoying ur channel. Glad I found it. Very informative, and entertaining as well.
One thing I ALWAYS think when watching Scotty is: good honest mechanics are hard to find and most of all... SMART HONEST ones like him.
it's not a hybrid cause it burns gas and oil that just means it's a flex fuel that's all that means
I've owned 3 hyundais, 250,000 miles on the first two I owned. The 3rd one is a santa fe and I've got 130,000 on it so far. My experience is these are great cars. None have burned oil
Yeah, I have a 2012 Kia Soul + with 76k miles. Never burned a drop of oil and the auto trans is perfect
Scotty is very smart, but he hears someone has had an issue, and he shits on the whole brand. He did the same with Ram, then a year or two later, he said they're one of the better brands out there although he doesn't care for their vehicles. Some people just have biases.
@@MichaelJamesWood I think that's part of the problem. But their gdi engines are known for oil consumption and have been the subject of lawsuits.
Hyundai & Kia just need change of oil below the recommended mileage, don't overshoot it. I owned 2010 Kia Rondo and 2007 Hyundai Sonata, both do not give me a single headache. Im not sure about other models.
My 2005 Elantra has 222k on it and it burns oil, but almost any car with this amount of miles on it would do so!

It is important to do some "research" on products & services we buy. The term "due diligence" is something we should all learn to do for products, services, and political candidates.
They are legit terrible. My Sorrento burned 5 quarts of oil in 4,000 miles. I totaled the engine driving it dry as the desert.

Same thing with Subaru forester. Burning oil low mileage, they lost 3 class action lawsuits against that car but they still wouldn't do anything because mine was a hir below the limit according to them. Svc Mgr at dealership said you dont buy Subaru for reliability, you buy for safety...he said that! I traded for Lexus and got safety and reliability..lesson learned.
they engine design pancake engine, if not made correctly, the oil will get pas the rings very easily. They also got cheap with the pistons and the cylinders. VW had one of the best pancake designs.
@ja a Oh wow!! So stay away from Subaru?! Ok got it.
You are so right about the Kia. I have a 2017 Kia Optima and it burns oil like crazy! I was changing the oil every 5,000 miles. Now, by 3,000 miles, it burnt five liters of oil. I use Castrol synthetic high mileage and have 130,000 miles on the car.
damn that doesnt sound good, you might want to repalce the car. I think even our 20 year old car with almost 400k KM on it doesnt use any oil at all, altho the engine has run less, but still.

I have a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. It has that startup sound on the engine where the timing chain is tapping on startup. It also had a transmission sensor done at 45k miles. It currently has 175k miles. Thise two issues while very serious, have been the only issues. The car has been dependable, but you never know if that chain is gonna snap. All regular maintenance has been performed. Essentially, Im a reluctant recommender of thr Hyundai.
I had a Kia Forte from 2010 to 2018. Around 100,000 miles it started to have normal problems but the kicker was the radio went out and I was ready for a new car anyway.
I've never owned a Kia or Hyundai so I can't say from personal experience but for me Dodge/Chrysler is the worst so I'm not surprised Jeep is in this list. When AMC owned Jeep they were solid but when Chrysler got them they started that downhill slide.

Nonsense.
My 2008 Dodge Magnum runs very well. Tires, brake pads, serpentine belt, rotors, a battery and coil have been replaced. That’s it. It has been a nice car…
Just by googling "Car brands with the most problems 2022" and checking several sites you will see neither Hyundai/Kia are on the bottom or top, they are mid range most of the time and some of their models rank very well actually... There are so many other car brands ranked so much lower like Chrysler, Mitsubishi, Volskwagen...
It's probably a lot faster just to list "The ONLY cars you should buy if you know what's good for you:" Probably these are Honda and Toyota.
our chryslers run super well what are you talking about.
Americans have no clue about most cars in EU. They’re on a different planet almost. What you class as one this, it’s good in another country because they have different models of that brand and have more/less available parts, and so at different prices. Not only that… Americans have huge amounts of roads… and do mote driving in certain environments than for example people in eu.
@@RadekZielinski. Precisely, plus Americans run their cars on crappy petrol and any normal European car needs what we would call "normal" petrol and Americans call "premium" gas. Also they seem obsessed about changing the oil almost after every journey (see many comments on here), rather than sticking to the manufacturers' intervals like any sane person would. Probably because they use crappy synthetic blend oil rather than proper full synthetic. Ho hum.

On jeeps, the unified power module tends to have bad terminal mounting. It may look like each component is properly plugged in ... but internal terminals often slip downward and barely touch the spade lugs of "plugged-in" components. Intermittent and/or high resistance connections result and are hard to locate and correct. Check the back side of the module for wiring terminals that are not snug on the relevant component lugs.
I love how the 25 year old Silverado goes rumbling by in the background at 1:00, still running strong. I have two of those!
The 7500 mi. oil change interval is the real problem here.
Right. I'm not playing no games. I have a 2022 Kia Soul LX and I got my first oil change at 3,450 miles. My next one will probably be at 7,450 miles.

I would change the oil every 3000 miles no matter what anyone says!

The Hyundais we get in Australia are delivered directly from South Korea (as are Kias). We simply do not have the problems that you bring up. Perhaps it comes down to build quality.
Ironically, the majority here in Puerto Rico come also from South Korea, even tho PR is part of US.
Especially true of German cars sold in the USA market. The cars we get are garbage compared to those sold in Germany.
The whole world treats us Americans like we're a pack of dumb suckers. I mean, they're right, but it still sucks.
100% hyundai's in australia are a great car. very underated I bought one 3 years ago for $500 and Ive thrashed the thing, it still runs so well!!!!
Yes kia and hyundais made in Korea are great cars and have a reputation above toyota in Australia. The problem maybe where the US cars are made.
Ive got a 2015 i30 runs fine, only need to service it regularly and use good oil, other than that changed the battery (seven year old car not bad)- solid reliable car cant fault it
I truly believe that one of the greatest pleasures in Scotty’s life is tossing “ stupid engine beauty covers “ 😂🤣
They are rather worthless
Scotty should throw a beauty cover into his yard with a big pile of old beauty covers already in the yard!
Hey Scotty, I have car problems when taken to a Dealer. When I change oil at 3 or 4K I get over 250k miles out of each cars. Good Advice you give.
Thank you for great tips,!
I bought a Hyundai Elantra and Santa Fe, and both required total engine replacement. Insane...

Yes! I also had major problems on a Hyundai and Kia ...don't get the comments of people were like mine has 200,000 miles on it no problems I think they must be 50/50 lemons and good.
Really enjoyed the video, I liked how you actually went in detail in showing the specific issues with the cars.
There's a chase of squirrel behind you Scotty at 8:10 and one of them stopped when Scotty laughed. :D
Live in the uk. Don’t even have a car yet but I love watching this guy vent 😂😂 (plus I learn some😅)
My wife bought a 2018 Hyundai Sante fe a few years back it had 20k miles on it when we bought it. At 40k miles the motor was burning a quart of oil every few days so we took it to the dealer they said it was on the verge of blowing up so they put a brand new motor in it thank God for the warranty
Dealers don't tell you that GDI motors need an intake cleaning about every 15k depending on how clean you keep your oil, and combustion chamber every 40k or so depending on driving habits and oil used.
Good for you. The manufacturer delivered. Reputable company
lucky
Check the brake lights too. Kias and Hyundais are notorious for electrical problems with the taillights.
@@lonniebeal6032 you clean your oil, I gota hear this🤣
Oil burners should consider getting the oil analyzed, it only cost about $50 and it can tell you a lot where the defects could be.
want to have fun, take 4 oil samples from the same car at the same time and send them in to the lab, more fun, use 4 different labs, see what they send you. do not tell them it's from the same car.
@@snapon1974 there is no certification agency to check the labs assay for consistency, but you can ask the lab if their gear are trace calibrated to conform to ASTM standards; the trends are more important than a single result, enjoy

Will it tell you if you have a stuck top ring?
I'm 41 and just getting into self-repair. You are an outstanding RUclipsr. You carry on the torch lit by The Tappet Brothers, and I believe I say without exaggerating
I’ve owned 3 KIAs. Always changed the oil at 5K. Always had the 2.4 liter engine. I test drove the 2.0 liter & didn’t like it. Never had a problem with the 2.4 liter & they didn’t use any oil but never drove longer than 75K & then traded-in. The service is not as good as it used to be. Overall KIA is not that bad but could be better if they focused more on their customers. Out of the 3 vehicles I owned, one wheel sensor went bad. No other issues.
Interesting... Though Kia/Hyundai has like 3 completely different 2.4 liter engines and 2.0 engines from 2004-2015 or so. Oldest, Sirius is Mitsubishi engine. And two later, Beta (2.0) and Delta (2.4 an2.7) are solid quality engines as well.
The problematic ones are Theta models, that come in both 2.0 and 2.4 liter, and are completely new desing. Nu engine also has 2.0 variant, that's been subject to recall.
Scotty, Here is a idea to have proof that the transmission has been opened and worked on. Take some good blue enamel paint and paint a long mark on where the transmission seals are on the housing. If the marks are broken the transmission housing has been opened. Tell your Hundya owner to do that before he takes it back for another transmission repair. Then check it for him.
Another thing you can do right now is look at if the bolts have been worked on.
As a new viewer, I’ve never seen someone so excited and animated about what they are talking about! Had to sub immediately🔥

OMG I had that experience with my 2015 Hyundai Elantra. The automatic transmission started acting wonky, hard shifting and also slipping between 1st and 2nd in eco mode but worked perfect in sport mode. The 1st time I took it back to Sports Durst NC, coincidentally, 3 native Korean engineers were visiting the dealer at the very same day and we all took the car for a spin. I felt relieved when they later took the car in to the shop for a day but unfortunately the transmission issues persisted and was never resolved even after numerous complaints.
I also have trans problems on my Hyundai Sonata 2.5 L 4 speed auto. Transmission control module perhaps. Shift points screwy.
I have over 100,00 on my manual transmission In a Hyundai.
I did have to get some work done on the clutch assembly, but so far so good.
So the Korean guys used your car to go out to lunch on your dime and then walked away basically.
You are the best, Scotty. You are so animate and so blunt and to the point.
My goodness Scotty brightens my mood, love his personality, "just turn the music up and then u won't hear it"😂😂 I think we all have a friend like this. I can put that on a T-shirt 🤣🤔
I thought the squirrels in the background came out of the KIA engine. LOL

Love your vids Scotty. I'd really appreciate it if you could do a review on a Chev Spark 2017. I just bought one 2 weeks ago with 200,000KM. It was a former NAPA fleet car. It's running great so far. Perhaps you could advise me on it's weak points and what to do maintenance wise to keep it running well for as long as possible. Thanks in advance.
I have 2009 V6 Loaded 2WD KIA Sportage and it has been rook solid. 130K on the Odo and I expect to get another 130k. This model was built in Korea and has mostly Highway miles. I did have the A/C compressor replaced last year but living in Florida I need it ice cold. Still looks great. With the crazy price of both new and used cars, I intend to drive this until the wheels fall off.
Cars are always good for a suprise. I live in Germany where most people have a different view on cars as Scotty or Americans have. But Toyota is seen as a reliable brand here as well. But for decades most Germans thought their brands were the best in the world, while american were unreliable gashogs. Well some are this way.
I was the first one in our familiy, in fact the whole street, maybe the whole village, who bought an american car in the 90s. It was a 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ, produced in the US but for europeuan market. And turbocharged Diesels were very popular these days. So it had a 2.5 Litre 115 HP turbo diesel from VM (italian motor company) which suprisingly had the same torque as the usual 4.0 litre six cylinder gas.
I bought the Jeep in 1999 and drove it for 21 years. Finally the turbocharger broke down. I sold it, because diesel engines are now very expensive (680 Euro tax per year!) and it was not easy in the last years to get spare parts.
I will never forget this go-anywhere american masterpiece. I drove it from Germany to the Trollstigen pass, from north to south Germany, used it for chopped wood, plaster stones, moving...
All my friends bought 2 or 3 different cars (mostly German brands) in that time, as the cars broke down or make them unsatisfied. Even our family Mercedes Benz did not survived 19 years.
That Jeep never burned oil.
Xjs are great jeeps!
Sehr gut. You got a solid machine.
The most reliable vehicle I've ever owned was a 2008 Kia Sportage. Bought it used in 2012 with 112k miles. Drove it until last week when it was totaled in an accident with over 200k miles. In ten years I had to replace a battery and put on new brake pads...that's it.
Not even new tires?
We currently have 4 replacement engines sitting in our dealership to replace these. The most mileage is 70k on all of them. We cannot get the engines shipped fast enough

My brother's 2013 Kia Sorento locked up at only 80,000 miles. Thank God it was still under the 100,000 mile warranty. The dealer said he would have been screwed if he had over 100,000 miles.
How about revving it to death before warranty is up, then?

I didn't think much of my car burning oil until I had to replace my catalytic converter in California. That expensive repair made me change my train of thought real quick
Thanks for keeping it real, Scotty!
Good info. There are commercials on this videos by the way. Like you were saying I guess there just not paying you right?
it's probably burning oil partly due to auto start stop. it's a load of baloney that just wears out the engine faster and doesn't save that much gas by the time the car kicks the bucket
Auto stop start is the stupidest thing invented for general public. I was driving along, watching the stoplights and a Jeep blew past me and pulled up at the stoplight and it shut off and restated in around 2 seconds before he made a left turn.
Facts! LeXus Gs engine valve cover leaks at 30,000 miles and engine coils, spark plugs fouled out and engine blew up.
It spares enough gas to allow you to afford all the starters it'll go through.
I have a Kia Rio 2022 that had a rattling noise when going over those small white line bumps on the road. Took it in to Kia twice. First time they said they did not hear the rattle but checked the suspension to see if anything was loose. Second time I took it in, they said they heard the rattle but it was normal for that vehicle. So it was not repaired both times.
I was considering taking my car to a fix it yourself place that had a car lift so I could look for the rattle. But I bumped the front driver's side hub cap with the rubber tip of my cane because I was upset about still hearing the noise that had not been fixed. To my surprise, I heard the rattle.
It was almost time for my 8K mile service so I waited until I was closer to 8K miles then brought it in for the maintenance. During the maintenance, the tires were supposed to be rotated. I told them to not put the hubcaps back on. Just place them in the trunk. I wanted to make sure that was the problem.
They did as I requested and I have been over 400 miles since that maintenance without ever hearing the rattle again. So if anyone has a rattle that the repair shop cannot find, it might be the hub caps. All four of mine rattled when I bumped them with the rubber tip of my cane.
Lol that's awesome! Glad you can fully enjoy driving you're car now.

i have 2011 kia soul base model 1.6L manual transmission. 125k miles. i don’t know if it burns oil because i dont change it, the lube place does. some of the power windows no longer work, the rear reverse back up lights wiring is bad. replaced battery twice. replaced gas cap due to code telling me to. main big problem was knock sensor code kept going off. it wasnt the knock sensor (had it replaced 3 or 4 times). it was a bad pin on on ECU connector! i still like it though! because it’s great for tall peeps!
I had the hardest time with my outback with fuel delivery issues, waiting for it to throw a code and point me towards the problem. It ran like crap but never a code. It was very frustrating, I don't understand why I never got a code.
Turns out the upstream O2 sensor was bad, so my fuel delivery was all over the place.
Being patient and waiting for a code doesn't always work.
With 02 you don't normally get a code, you can unplug them and it'll run rich or lean whichever is the default and still get no code. Also 02 doesn't work when engine is cold. You look at the data when it works fine and use that for comparison. But sometimes it will just be really obviously offset or really obviously slow. Easiest way is just to swap it out and check mpg. Sometimes it's the maf sensor messing up how the 02 effects efficiency.
@@georgekurgansky5986 For a long time I had a P0420, I figured the cat was bad because the previously failed headgasket sent coolant and oil out the exhaust.
Later, I had fairly major fuel delivery issues, massive power drops/stumbling between 2000-3000 rpm. Replaced the pump and filter, worked better for one test drive, then issue returned. Cleaned fuel pressure regulater, same thing-- one good test, then crap. I took my Cats out and made sure they were clear and flowing- not clogged. I was so frustrated, Knowing it was some kind of fuel delivery issue that would temporarily get better.
I replaced the O2 sensor on a whim. I knew it would effect fuel delivery, but didn't realize it could totally choke the fuel supply.
With the new sensor it's been running great, and the p0420 is gone also.
A side note: The same O2 sensor is used in cadallacs, nissans, volvos, a few more. Very easy to find.
I was about to send you to Subaru for the Fuel pump recall lol, mine is getting replaced next week under warranty. I have 109k on my 2019 and haven't had issues just general maintenance. Note I skipped the 30k recommended service and the 60k, I did service at 72k and then CVT and diff fluids at 98k. I beat the crap out of it too 🤣
