"maybe waterbending is the friends we made along the way" ~netflix probably
But aang can’t learn bending unless Gyatso teaches him. In which case he never learns any other bending. The Avatar who only knew airbending (the Netflix show)
Exactly what I was thinking 😂/😤
@@DarthBlaidd They really just took 'AVATAR' out of the LAST AIRBENDER
People always assume Aangs better at waterbending because he's the Avatar and a Protege, but what often gets overlooked is that he already spent years having formal bending training. Becoming an airbending master (which he is) involves learning a bunch of formal techniques. The concept of /studying/ bending isn't new to him, thats why he easily picks up the water whip from the scroll where as its Kataras first time learning from this kind of source.
good point!
Water and air are arguably most similar elements too
Also, Katara has never seen water bending. She's completely self taught. And, you can see from her mishaps what can happen when you do the moves wrong. Momo butt still hurts to this day.
So, she is teaching herself a martial art that directs a bending art, and she has no idea how it works. That she's gotten any of it right without killing herself is a testament to her perseverance and skill.
the pirate saying "that's good!" is one of my favorite bits in the show. his voice actor really went for it and i love it
Yes! Such an underrated moment lmaoo idk why it's so funny but it's just perfect
"I can't wait to watch the movie everyody hated" Trust when I say it'll be great after you get through the show and you're all in and invested and love it all. You'll be like, I'M ALSO WITH THE HATE.
Even M Knight won’t talk about it especially since it essentially tanked his career
All I needed to know is that you're already enjoying from book 1. I can't wait to watch the rest of this show with you guys
People keep saying to skip episode 11 but it's only hated because of how often it repeated by Nickelodeon, there's really nothing special about it as a bad episode. That said, as justified by Dante Basco (Zuko), it's not one that should be skipped because of how lovingly it wears the show's anime inspirations on it's sleeve and how it conveys the creators and the crews' passion and love for the artform.
Agreed! The creativity alone should be appreciated
Wait, what? I wanna see those people, who suggest such foolishment about skipping an episode, especially the next one. Don’t wanna talk much about why I loved it, so that there are no spoilers, but NO SKIPPING. Period.
it’s legitimately a filler episode that adds absolutely nothing to the story or the character of any of the cast, maybe even degrades Aangs character for no reason at all, while the story is a cliche snoozefest. even as a child i recognized the stupidity of the episode
@@GiveMeTheRice but apparently you can't read, nor appreciate art 🤔
Eh, it's one of the worst, possibly (probably, actually) even the worst episode of the series, but that said, given the overall high quality of the series, the weaker or even weakest episodes of this series are still, at worst, decent enough. It's not something so horrendous to warrant skipping. That's something which should only be reserved for like pure flashback/clip show episodes with near-zero original content. @@GiveMeTheRice
I cannot wait for you all to finish this show. It has made me laugh, made me cry, made me rethink my entire life. This show recently pulled me out of an existential crisis and gave me hope for the future. It's helped me be creative myself and start to write my own stories. There is a reason I've watched it to completion about a dozen times this month alone.
Really loving how much y’all are enjoying the show, brings me a lot of joy every time there’s an upload
Life's not been supplying much happiness lately but watching you react to this definitely brought me joy. I was smiling most all of the way through. Thank you
We've seen Katara make ice before (ep 2 she freezes Sokka onto the ship for example), but most reactors seem to forget that lmao it is quite a few episodes where she doesn't useit tbf
she even made ice in “the waterbending scroll” episode for the pirates chasing them to slip on
8:40 I love "The Waterbending Scroll" because it features some PEAK Iroh silliness!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I keep seeing people talk about filler episodes, there is no such thing in this show. Every episode is a lesson and a important part to every character. So I hope you watch all the episodes.😅
14:10. "Don't go chasin' waterfalls." -Uncle Iroh
Season 1 is perfection in world building Season 2, the plot thickens and tomorrow becomes literal royalty, and Season 3 is well.....just keep tissues nearby
"We need to find a good source of water"
"Aren't you over the ocean?"
You mean you would just drop two novice waterbenders into the middle of the ocean and hope for them not to drown before they get the hang of it? That's definitely pushing the bike teaching technique of letting go after you said you wouldn't 🤣
Bikes want to stay upright while they're moving. They do that even with no rider. Can't really say that about people swimming.
12:14 It's not established in this series but in the sequel show Legend of Korra, but airbenders can slightly sense air disturbances like those from a swinging sword (and the bald head can actually help with that) which allows them to still have a chance to dodge/counter weapons attacks even if they can't see them.
Fun Fact: The poison knife (23:25) is actually Smellerbee's, you can tell by the shape...
PS, please don't skip episode 11, there's nothing wrong with it, people just call it "filler" and skip it because it's not main plot heavy; of course the choices yours, and if you do feel the need to skip it at least watch it off camera...
How can you tell by the shape that it's Smellerbee's? Just curious.
@@dcharith Literally half her scenes she's shown using that knife or at least one similar to it, that particular one could actually belong to Jet himself, but I don't see him as the type; point standing it does not belong to the old man...😅😂
interesting factoid: the pirate captain is voiced by Jack Angel, long time voice actor known for roles in classic shows like Super Friends and Transformers, and basically later on in his career any gruff older dude character in plenty of other shows and movies
Oh ATLA fans have to wait the longest 🥺 but im excited whenever you upload 😊❤
i' just waiting for the two part finale to air .
I love how sokka gets shit on constantly. But his luck turns around
And i love how aang just has fun
I can’t wait till you guys watch all of this. Me and my husband watch every episode together of you guys viewing this for the first time and it brings so much joy. Love you both ❤
Since last episode was the Winter Solstice that was the start of winter. The comet is coming at the end of summer. So Aang has all of winter, all of spring, and most of summer to learn so about 9 months (maybe a few days fewer, I don't think when Roku said the end of summer that necessarily has to mean the very last day). In fact the seasons basically follow the seasons of the show; Book 1=winter, Book 2=spring, and Book 3=summer.
I called myself. I avatar the last Airbender fan. I’ve watched a show over 30 times and I’ve never noticed he was wearing the hat.
13:24. When your ship sets sail, take someone else's
At 12:13 Aang probably knew that the weapon was flying towards him because his head is shaven so he's more sensible of the environment. This idea is explained in the legend of Korra
Katara froze Sokka in the first few episodes when she could barely waterbend
14:00 Friendship goals
Under appreciated Sokka moment, taking care of Appa.
Jet's swords are actually based on actual swords. One common name for them is Chinese hook sword
I've watched this show over a dozen times and I have Never noticed Aang wearing that hat 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Amazing how this show can still surprise you 🥲
I love the parallel between the jet episode and tge imprisoned episode, they show the nuance behind the war aswell, in imprisoned an earth kingdom elder snitched on haru whereas here in jet a fire nation elder vouched for sokka
Oh my cabbage’s lol that part makes me laugh feel bad for the man 😂
Jet: "There was a compartment for poison in the knife"
These fire nation savages are even making knives dangerous.
Katara got ice breathe when she leveled up after doing the romance side quest with jet 😂
The knife belongs to smellerbee, you can see it at the start of the episode!
When is the next video coming out?
For some reason most people seem to forget that Katara has been able to make ice since episode 2.
I wish cabbage guy had appeared more. He was one of the best parts of the show.
Not the Cabbage Man being the thumbnail lmaooo
22:58 I don't justify Jet's actions after losing his parents, but I do justify them after being given that hat by Katara. WTF is that? Thankfully, she is good at other things.
Keep it up! You’re almost through book 1! Every episode just gets better and better
Uncle Iro is the best part of the show
So glad you’re enjoying the series so far!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Great series and great reaction
Aang doesn't have the personality to be the leader of "team avatar" he's by far the strongest but Sokka is the one who directs the team (like it or not)
Jet's hook swords are actually weapons found in Chinese martial arts (often used by Shaolin monks) and are depicted in some artwork mostly from the late Qing dynasty. Perhaps even more fitting they were used almost exclusively by civilians and not the military which I find matches with Jet himself since it seems like his family were just civilians and yet Jet was able to get these swords and is quite good with them. I suspect that his family owned them and he just took them up after the death of his parents.
Sokka is my favorite character
Fun fact, “twin hooks” were real weapons! Chinese I believe.
Season 1 is definitely great and it never bored me, well maybe a couple episodes did, but fans usually say that just because they hold season 2 and 3 in such high esteem. And for a reason, because those are definitely amazing and better than season 1, but I think that leads to people forgetting season 1 is actually pretty great as well.
Bless you and ur avatar ep drop while I'm drinking and waiting for my pizza, true hero's keeping me awake on this cool aussie summer night 😂
the last note in the end of episode will age well
Get the Airbender tattoos for 100k subscribers?
Yeah, no, we wouldn't murder Jet! That would be crazy.....
aang may be the main character but i think sokka is definitely the leader/strategist
Aang is already a bending master. Bending forms are martial arts. Katara has spent however long muddling along trying to teach herself martial arts without guidance. It is sort of reasonable to expect a master martial artist to pick up new basic forms really easily.
Hi guys great reaction once again, I’ve rewatched so many shows with you and just love everything about this channel. But, could you possibly do some comments after each episode instead of wraping both up in the end of the video? ❤
People who genuinely think S1 is BORING probably watched the show 20 + times.
The first season is where have to eat your vegetables to kind of get to the good part of the meal.
I'm so excited that ya'll are getting the good parts soon
Yeah idk why avatar fans are the biggest season 1 haters. Season 1 is great, season 2 and 3 just so happen to take the show to whole new level of amazing. That doesn’t make s1 bad or boring. Idk why everyone insists on downplaying it to new reactors.
In marvel fashion "jet will return" no spoiling what or why 😊
24:46 jajsjdjjajajjsjdjfjf
The real villan of this show isn't the fire nation / fire lord... But the cabbage man going for revenge 😂
I just woke up as y'all posted, it's clearly fate so of course i have to watch lol
I think they have 1 years time not 6 months....
9 months. The deadline was told to Aang on the winter solstice. December. And they have until the end of summer. August/Sept.
I wouldn’t mind 3 uploads a week. Just sayin 😂
Not the cabbages 🥺
I cant wait to see your reaction to the bad movie. its so fucking bad its hilarious. like its almost to The Room levels of bad.
Heyyyy!!! Wats up everyone , love this show. Have yall played red dead redemption 2? Maybe after spiderman ??
❤
yah first comment ! love that you are on this journey !
Kung fu panda 3 plz
React to bad Samaritan movie it’s horror
Jet is a classic case of good intentions but bad methods
Jet is so cringe
he's hot tho
jet was pretty unclear
You should do 12 and 13 together, even if it means skipping 11.
1x9 to 1x11 is the all-time-low of avatar. After these episodes it gets way better
Do you really think 1x9 is that bad. Its actually good episode for Katara charcter development.
@@dadandadandan yeah, too much filler vibes. Even the netflix version skipped the whole episode with one scene ^^
The 'lows' of atla are better than many of the best episodes of other shows. I think people should stop referring to them as that as it makes them sound awful, when they are not.
@@Schock_TV well netflix version is kinda meh.
@@dadandadandan Has some ups and downs, but they treated the filler episodes right
you absolutely don’t have to but could you guys skip ep 11 and just upload eps 12&13 they’re some of the best ep and having those two as a double feature would be amazing 🤞🏽
No they shouldn’t skip nothing because there’s payoff for that episode
@@KickinthescienceI can understand both sides tbh
@@Kickinthescienceu mean book 3 pay off?
Why would you stop them from experiencing and deciding for themselves?
@@skyereacts125 yep
