- Yes, I decided to buy a Ford GT40, although it's technically not a true GT40, it's a continuation manufactured by Superformance under license from Safir. So it does have a GT40 VIN and it is made to the original specifications. This example has the original Gulf Blue Livery, and a 550HP Roush 427SR mated to a 5 speed dog-leg transmission. It's just epic.

Agreed, my fun car garage spans a 1931 Model A Roadster pick-up up through a C8 Corvette - a couple Ferraris and a JDM in there as well. Looking for a street rod to add in as well. Yes, I am married to a WONDERFUL woman!
Congratulations on a beautiful car. I've owned my SPF MK1 for 11 years and have 22,000 miles on it. If you don't have paint protection film on the nose and rocker panels, I highly recommend that since you'll pick up so many rocks. Would hate to see that lovely paint messed up. Two other recommendations would be a five point harness and straight pipes to get the best sound out of your engine. Enjoy!

First of all I want to say "I KNEW IT!" even though I couldn't be 100% sure. 2nd of all, that's really neat that it actually has an axel lift and AC. I have heard of Superformance and I have even seen a How It's Made episode on how they make their cars, but I still learned a lot. I didn't know can be considered a "real gt40" even though it's not original. I also didn't know there's such a thing as a Superformance dealership.

I envy you Americans. You can drive anything built for the road. I'm in Canada and we can't even bring this car in unless it's at least 15 years old. Then you have to go through all kinds of red tape just to bring it in whereby the cost will skyrocket astronomically. I can just imagine how excited this must be. BIG CONGRATULATIONS! The GT40 is my dream car too. Enjoy the beast.

I find it Interesting that in an era where NA noisy analog cars are being frowned upon and discontinued you go for an extreme example of the attributes for the golden era of cars. I love it! Will be curious to see you highlight the differences of driving the gt40 vs say an f12 or 458. Congrats Dan!

Congratulations on the GT40. THAT was my poster car when I was growing up. I was lucky being kid then and able to follow the racing at LeMans on the radio and newspapers. There was no TV from Europe back then. Ken Miles is smiling from above, no doubt!

I am seriously into my due diligence phase of a Superformance GT40 purchase and this is something I learned after a long conversation with Scott Holley, a Superformance dealer (Holley Motorsport). The original race GT40s were right hand drive. Because they wanted the drivers to be held snugly in their position, the right hand drive position of the race cars AND the Superformance GT40s is 2" to 3" narrower than the standard US left hand driving position. As I am 6'3" tall, this is very important to me. Further headroom can be obtained by the Gurney bubble and there is a "tall guy" seat with less padding. If you are tall and spec out a new factory build, you can also get a driver side drop seat modification that will get you an additional 1" or so. Between all that and adjusting the pedal position to it's farthest forward position, per Scott, he has seen 6'5" folks fit in these Superformance GT40s. I hope this helps those lucky few tall guys out there that are wondering if they will fit. Per Scott, it's not leg room that is the critical factor in this vehicle, it's headroom. So a 6'+ driver with a pant inseam of 34" or longer will fit better than a 6'+driver with a 32" inseam because of the longer upper body. :)

Man, that is one incredible machine!! You scored a big win on that one. The GT40 is my all time fav and can’t wait to see more videos. Superformance nailed it. It’s got it all: the looks, the sounds, the precision, the violence. From the era when men were men and the Saturn V thundered us to the moon.

Alternate Gulf livery car!! Bravo Dan!! 👏👏👏 As a fellow GT40 fanatic and also a Gulf Racing junkie, this is my DREAM CAR!!! 👍👍 For those who don't know, the Superformance isn't a kit, it's a car that 80% of the parts from the original GT40 cars can work on a SPF car. And the Gulf colors here are the actual Gulf Oil corporation colors. The light blue/orange was first used by John Wyre in the UK. Enjoy the car Dan, your living my dream! 👍
Not quite true, the blue on this is darker than chassis p1049, the grady Davis car. It also never had a moustache on the stripe.

@@normalguysupercar Not that it's a bad thing Dan. I think it looks amazing. The original colors supposedly, per JWA, were standard Triumph Powder Blue (P030-8013) and Marigold Orange (P030-3393).
@@jase6370 Yes, I should have mentioned the original car had just an orange stripe down the center, and not the curved striping on the bumper.
@06VistaBlueGT1 it's not just the stripe, the blue is wrong too. P1049 had a lighter shade of blue. Google it and you will see.
You need to wear a Ken Miles T-shirt and have "Polk Salad Annie" playing in your head when you drive the car. She's a great looking car!

When it comes to GT40 superformance does not get any better. The thoughtfulness of that build is absolutely outstanding, from the color scheme to the interior. It is just a achingly beautiful. The quality also comes through on the camera. BTW…Avon tires!! Outstanding Dan🤟

YOU NEED to watch on RUclips...30 minutes of Ford GT40 being driven at SPA in Belgium, in the 6 hour classic, by ex F1 driver Martin Brundle ! That 30 minutes was serious stuff, as he battles 3 other GT40s', while they battle past the slower cars; trust me it's epic and very REAL RACING !!

If that exhaust note sounds that amazing on camera I can only imagine what it sounds like in person. My God I don't think I would have the self control to stop stabbing the throttle! One of my favorite things is making my exhaust sing with a concrete barrier right next to my lane or in between 2 buildings in a downtown setting.

Cool Dan! I am building an RCR replicar. Their suspensions look like jewelry. Those Superformance are cool. Too pricey for me but very original. I am doing the light blue Gulf livery. I am not trying to be original. Will have a nice interior done by a local shop and I am insulating it as well as muffling it. I want to do weekenders with it as well as track it at Laguna Seca. They have sound regulations. I’ll bring the Gulf colors in it. Axel lift, electronic rear mirror. Mine has an LS3 and Porsche transaxle. RCR made 18 cars for the Ford vs Ferrari movie and I went with that configuration.
