My Dad worked for Shelby in the 60’s and was the care taker of 1058 for about a year. Kept it in the garage of our row home in Philadelphia. He would take my brother and I for rides after dinner on Rt309 outside of Philadelphia. My brother and I squeezed into the passenger seat, me with my plastic Johnny Lightning helmet strapped tight. The Speedo was right in front of us…we would cheer when he got it up to 100. He told us not to tell Mom but I could not keep a secret. Dad told Mom it was kilometers and we were only doing 67 mph. Mom never bothered to check. Great memories of that car.
By the way, Dad could have bought the car for $12,500. The row home was $11,500…lol
