I'm a sucker for GT40 builds, and it's an aussie build and production! oh, and that shed... So glad to find you guys at the start of what can only be an upward trajectory. Subbed!
I'm a fat tire with white letter freak, and I just saw a Superformance Tool Room edition Gulf GT40. It's an exact replica of the race winning car. The clam shell is wider and the tires are wider. The rear tires look like slicks on a drag race car, or a Porsche 917. They are monstrous. Gotta look that up. It's on Superformance's channel
Hi mate, how much did you pay for the kit. Most probably Jean Fourie was still the owner of CAV.He also builds amazing V8 beetles. His latest project is AC Cobras with an aluminium Chassis.
It's weird, even as a kid instinctively I loved these cars. I'd have all my Hot Wheels lined up and somehow the GT40 got one of the best parking spots. Then as an adult I got into racing and learned the history and it kind-of cemented it for me; that car is an icon.
I actually first liked trains but then i got to 7 and my dad thought i was too old and he bought me a 49 Mercury toy and my dad he was into cars but he didnt know a lot of them so i started searching up cars and boom i found the ford gt and then i just wanted to build and race cars since then i mean i eventually got back into trains so now i like both The ford gt always fascinated me but more the 64’ GT40 MK2
been in love with this car for about 20 years now sitting he at 40 and single think omg should i build one this video was ment to put me off all his done is shovel coal on the fire lol the original story has all ways been an awsome story then they made a film with ford vs farrari that made it worse lool i heard the sound off the orginal and your insides just melt lol
Oh the reason.. I've worked hard all my life even damaged my back doing it. The reason I wasn't successful was because I worked for someone else not for myself
Once you have a hoist you will never go back to not having a hoist ive had one now for 16yrs years & could never go with out it & im also 60yrs old so to old to be working on the ground 🤣🤣
Jacky’s defiance of the running start was caused by the death of another racer at Le Mans who was in such a hurry to leave he didn’t put on his seat belt and died in a crash.
The hardest thing for me is I don't fit. I forget exactly but it was my knees or legs under the dash. The pedal box had a lot of adjustability and probably would have fit me but the dash bar was just too low and there was nothing they could do about it. I never got to struggle over the color. LOL this was at a place in Connecticut in America. I forget which company they were building the complete replicas. I got to sit in one. I guess it's save me a lot of money that I didn't fit
Dan Gurney famously had to have a bump in the roof to make room for his head. I actually watched him trying to get into it at the Monterey Historics. He practically needed a shoehorn to wedge his tall frame inside.
This was fucking brilliant. Excellent camera work and editing, very cool subject and an interesting story. All topped with some good advice. Well done all around. Love the fact my mans is playing Gran Turismo at 11:43 😂
Love the car and colour scheme. Saw a cream coloured one at Beaulieu really liked that too. First time I ever saw one was in 91 when I went to watch Mansell at Silverstone. Never seen a nicer car since. Funny to think back then I didn't even know about it's history just knew I loved the car.
He should have guessed that NO.6 at Goodwood was the REAL DEAL, as that's where storied cars turn up to be DRIVEN. I would not have left that spot 'til I'd found out if it was actually 1075, then begged on hands and knees to touch any part of it !!
Pure nostalgia. I was a young engineer fresh out of my apprenticeship, but was lucky enough to work in Girling’s (brakes) competition department and actually stuck Girling stickers on a few racing cars like this at race tracks.

12:40 Nice Car.. Myopic perspective.
Good old #1075 my favourite race car and possibly the greatest race car ever!😊
Yes it was great to see it in real life at Goodwood 2019... something I'll never forget.
Lovely bit of film, great stuff.
Thank you!
Production quality is amazing!
thank you!
1:24 😉👍 I like those scales

is it b]possible to build these as a left hand drive
I need to find a roller here in canada.
He rised up the suspension no?
Amazing
When it’s a GT40, it’s never hard to pick a colour, Gulf Livery all the way ;)
The GT40 is the only car that can wear any colors, even light blue and orange, and make them beautiful.
timeless classic
He says it is stainless monocoque... I have never seen a stainless monocoque only aluminum monocoque.
Hi yes, it is a stainless steel monocoque, I double checked on the CAV website.
www.capeadvancedvehicles.com/explore/
@@revved_up no way close to the original spec weight @800kgs if you build it in stainless.
Sexiest car ever built. NOTHING outdoes the Gulf GT40.
Love the 66 GT40 ,but this to me is a FAKE car. Replicas are an insult.
It's weird, even as a kid instinctively I loved these cars. I'd have all my Hot Wheels lined up and somehow the GT40 got one of the best parking spots. Then as an adult I got into racing and learned the history and it kind-of cemented it for me; that car is an icon.
I am building an RCR GT40. Gonna do the Gulf livery like yours. Great job!
Awesome Good luck! Gulf liveries are the best!
Fantastic... hope to catch up some day.
Do you have a price on the kit , and can you get the kit with the shifter in the correct location (right side ) Many tanks

may i knw what was the total cost for the complete build

I'm 60 as well so totally agree!
It’s a beauty! That’s my dream car, hopefully one day I’ll be able to get one
Definitely is a stunning car! you'll get it one day!
This is amazing! Well done top quality content guys 👍
Thank you!
W interview
thank you!
Love the Passion. I can relate to this guy. Well done.
Thx for mentioning Jacky Ickx. Belgium F1 driver and also named "Mister Le Mans". BTW super nice GT40 you have !! Greetz from Belgium
Meet the Sniper
This bloke looks to be loaded as all heck! Thats a pretty nice ol' "shed" out in the yard!!
Jacky’s defiance of the running start was caused by the death of another racer at Le Mans who was in such a hurry to leave he didn’t put on his seat belt and died in a crash.
Very Cool! My favorite car since I was a kid.
This is my dream too. I'm 17 and already saving for a kit.
Cool
I placed an order with cav a few months ago, can’t wait to get going
Your vid is inspirational
Their's a point at 7,000 rpm...
where everything fades.
I am base in Philippines can you help me make one?
sorry we don't build the kit, we were interviewing Paul who built it. If you want to know more you can contact him.
So this is not a superformance?
It's a Cape Advanced Vehicles Kit

@@ostrich67 the bump is helpful and probably necessary for me as well. But that seemed an easier fix than moving the dash bar.
Been looking at similar videos,
This was my favorite one to watch by far.
The video quality is beautiful, well done.
thank you!
@@revved_up One thing was missing....V8 music....I wanted to hear it given the bloody beans !!
@@arkhsm we'll keep that in mind for our next videos! thanks for the feedback and support!
my sister said: that's a pretty ugly car
sub 81
Good content ended that. Looking at buying a GT40 Superformance now.
Holy crap this is something you would expect from like a million subscriber channel
thank you for your kind words! We are just getting started, stay tuned!
This was fucking brilliant.
Excellent camera work and editing, very cool subject and an interesting story.
All topped with some good advice. Well done all around.
Love the fact my mans is playing Gran Turismo at 11:43 😂

@revved_up how do we get hold of some info on the RCR kits available.
Great story! I love people who like to work hard and play hard, too!
I think that's a takeaway that a lot of viewers won't get.
O1E Gearbox 6speed 4.2L Audi Quattro S4 or S6
The 5Zyl Turbo have a 01E 5speed stable enough for 1000hp on a quatro launch
🤔 It is not a replica! ... Look the word up!
It's a bolt together kit car, not even built, just assembled ... 😏
Great video! Enjoyable feature to watch
Thank you! glad you enjoyed!
This was one of my poster cars. This will be one project of many I will do in my life… just have to figure out the color!
Definitely is a poster car for a lot of people. Good luck with your project!

Nice one Paul!
just awesome. thank you.
You need wider tires on the back
Pure nostalgia. I was a young engineer fresh out of my apprenticeship, but was lucky enough to work in Girling’s (brakes) competition department and actually stuck Girling stickers on a few racing cars like this at race tracks.
That needs wider tires with white letters in the back to fill those fender wells. Are those 15 inch rims? Not much sidewall showing.
The color is THE EASIEST, and you picked it!!
Great Job! Top notch content!
thank you!
What did that kit cost? What did the drive train and wheels cost? What was the total cost of this build?
Hi, you can email Paul from GT40 Australasia if you're interested in getting one or would like more information.
gt40aus@gmail.com
@@revved_up I don't understand why pricing is a secret. These sell for 95 to 115k used. So 115k minus 600 hours labor and drive train equals what?
we don't know too much about the kit, Paul is the one importing the kits. I think it's around 150K. We are just doing interviews with car owners
@@revved_up great video, love the car but it looks like building one costs more than buying one used.
I believe for Australia you can only get the kits imported
What is the kit and how much do they cost?
Cape Advanced Vehicles kit
Just perfect !
Most beautiful car in the world IMHO
Brilliant.
Great work!
thank you!
@BenjaminWorkshop made his own GT40 too, and his channel document all the process
Faut qu'c'est propre
What a great interview cool bloke i could listen to him talk for hours his voice would lend itself to audio books.
Agreed!
Very nice video, this channel will definitely grow, subscribed
thank you!
What an inspiration, I love this man, I love this build, I love this channel
thank you!
Make the wheels correct...please
Very cool, all the way around!
Great car and shed.
It's so beautiful
This is awesome Paul!
This is awesome!! Great work to everyone involved!
thank you!
bravo! good content
thank you!
Beautiful gt40
agreed!
Great work 🔥🙌🏻
thank you!
loved the trivia on how the driver of the 69 race walked across instead of running like the rest and ends up winning the race with the GT40
What a great video. Well done Paul she’s a true masterpiece. And yes hard work is rewarded
