Your channel is amazing by the way, I'm a 22 med school student and still had no idea what's going on in my mouth. Especially I couldn't figure out how does the teeth move despite knowing all the anatomy, histology etc. Watched all your videos in one sitting. Absolutely fantastic content!! 💙
Another video from our favorite orthodontist!!! Thanks to him I walk into my orthodontist office speaking knowledge, they even ask me if I went to dental school.
Dr. Greg Asatrian I have tried almost every color. I am wearing power chains now so I am limited on the colors my orthodontist provide. Would you suggest trying clear?
I have braces and this is by far the best and most informative channel on braces. Besides individuals doing it on their own channels with each appointment, Dr Asatrian is by far the best. Thanks for these videos!
I started following you from the beginning and it so happens I got my braces at the same time. These videos are so helpful and informative. Thank you! - the assistant mistakenly put in dark green o-rings even though I asked for teal. 🙄 So I’ve had to deal with it for 6 weeks. Next visit I’ll make sure they have the correct color I want.
Hello Dr. Greg. I am a newly Orthodontic Assistant and your videos helps me a lot.I just want to say thank you for doing that. The best for you.Keep doing it.
I'm a dental hygiene student and your videos are getting me though the ortho unit! Please keep making these videos, they're super helpful. Thank you!! Any way you can name the instruments you're using as well? :)
I had steel shorties for all brackets on my 1st month, then got switched to clear o-rings plus a long steel ligature on my 3 lower front teeth on the 2nd month. I have a stubborn tooth that's pointed inward so I have that tied to my round NiTi wire with a shorty too. I'm hoping it'll move soon, because i think it might hurt more when I switch to a thicker wire next month. Thanks for these informative videos!
I had steel ligatures on on my two front teeth and it hurt so bad while putting them on i thought the orthodontist was gonna break my tooth😂 but I got them off a month or two ago but thanks for the great video!😁
Wearing green! Thank you, you've answered a question i've been looking for. Wasn't quite sure what kept poking my lip, but I just figured out i had steel ligatures. I had to keep tucking it back under my wire ):
I need you to be my orthodontist! You explain everything perfectly! Can we get a video on what the retainer looks like and what our (the patients) options are please!! 😬😬 You’re awesome!! Lucky patients that have you as an orthodontist ☹️
My favorite color so far has been light pink. I'm actually having a little fun with the colors. Right now in rocking silver o-rings because I attended a black tie affair and didnt want all eyes 👀 on my mouth ... thanks for another great video
i just got braces as a second year college student and i have pink! a lot of my brackets gave figure eight o rings and i’m so glad i understand the reasoning behind it because of your videos!!
Awesome video my favorite color was the one you showed in the video when I had my braces i had the Damon brackets but when I had my power chain I would always get the blue
Thank you! I just went in for my first tightening and she put steel ligature ties on some of my teeth and I wasnt sure why! thank you! Another video on why the wires DONT need to be changed would be nice!
Thanks for the video! And hi from a fellow scientist :D I am a metal-face grad student in cell- and molecular biology :D I must say that I enjoy to listen to all of your explanations very much. Million of thumbs up!
if there’s something I want to know about my braces I always come to your channel😂 I never needed braces until I had a few seizures and clenched my jaw so hard that my 4 front bottom teeth were falling out and loose! I’ve had braces for almost 2 months and they’ve already moved soooo much! I have light purple and a power chain on the bottom teeth that are loose and out of place. Thank you for your videos!
This is the video I was looking for I was wondering why I wasn’t going to be able to choose color rubber bands but now I know that these are the braces I will get
I’m wearing gray power chain on the top and sliver regular ties on the bottom. My favorite is light blue but they stain too easily so I don’t get that anymore. I enjoy watching these videos. Thanks for sharing.
Braces Explained You’re welcome! You remind me of my Orthodontist ... young, energetic, excited, and passionate about his work. Keep it up! You are going to be a blessing to a lot of people.
Love your videos. So informative. When I get something done, I Google why and your videos always appear. First time ever getting a steel tie with my second time with braces. Wish the tech person did put the wire in the back of the wire... mine is right in front and keeps pulling my lip when I smile. Next time if I get this done again I'll ask to tuck it in the back :)
Ohhh so I now I can see what’s going inside my mouth My ortho did the figure 8 tie when I first got them Is there a difference between the normal tie and the figure 8 other than how it looks?
It’s to put pressure on different sections of the bracket to pull the teeth in a certain direction, it’s usually used on shorter teeth or teeth that need to be pulled down to quicken the process. Hope this was helpful (:
I love this channel and all the videos - I am wearing teal right now for six weeks (this is my second color - i really liked the gray which was my first) - thank you for taking the time to make these they are very helpful and educational
I'm on my 5th color rn, silver. But my first month with braces I got black and I loved it. Love your videos btw! I didn't think I'd get the answers to my questions
This is great! I was wondering what the shorties were during my last appointment and this answered it all. I would also love to see a video that explains the reasoning behind the positioning of rubber bands! Thanks for your informational videos! I love them! :)
Can you do a video on Orthognathic Surgery and the Reasons why it would be needed? I have to have that in about a year and I am wondering why thats necessary. Great Video. Wearing Fire Red and Gold Mine now. GO 49ERS !!
It is the same as putting it on traditional braces or I think it is. Since I have Damon braces and a powerchain and all my ortho did was put it around my brackets.
These videos are so informative. I’m wondering why the three different systems and if one is more effective than the other if so why would that not be the default system. Would be good to know the different scenarios where you need a rubber tie a steel one and also the Damon braces
Hi Dr Greg , I’m about to get my brace off in 2 months. I’m just wondering how they take the brace off without damaging the teeth, could u explain it to us someday? Thank you :)
I'm starting my new job at an orthodontist in a couple of weeks! Moving from an assistant of general dentistry to ortho assistant and moving up to auxillary! Currently doing some study so I have some idea when I start :) :) :)
@@GGirlcutie That's what I did when I first got my braces too haha. In general lighter colours are prone to staining while darker colours wont. So if you pick navy blue you'll be fine, but baby blue stains way too easily
I’m currently in orange bands and I go back in two weeks and I’m thinking of getting black or pink. Also my canine teeth came down into position finally!! I just have two gaps and then my midline is a bit off still, but I’m still wearing my bands but only at night now! So far it’s paid off. Can’t wait to see what they do in two weeks. I hope I’m close to the end 🤞🏼
Thank you for the content doc!! I’ve had braces twice (total 10 years) and still have couple of months to go! I always choose silver 😂 like literally in 10 years I’ve only changed the color twice, once it was teal and now it is black, and guess what? I’m going back to silver again next week😂
Hi Dr. Greg Asatrian! I want to share how much your videos have helped. I have worked in the dental field (front desk) for over 10 yrs. Previously at a perio office and now an orthodontic office. Your videos have helped me tremendously! Thank you. Would you be able to do a video about what procedures are mainly done by doctor versus which procedures assistants do. 👍
Hey doc, can you make a video describing the whole process for correcting an under bite? braces, upper/lower jaw surgery, recovery. I was supposed to get it done 6 years ago but I didn't want to go thru with it since it looked painful. Now, the underbite has actually gotten worse. In finally getting braces in a month, I'm super excited
There are many different ways to correct an underbite due to age / severity /etiology, etc. I will do some different videos on how to correct them as we move forward!
I have only my ceramic brackets on the maxillary arch right now, separators on sept 9th, mandibular metal brackets on sept 11th! I opted for light pink so they won’t stain as bad hopefully as clear or white elastics :) dying to get my comfort tubing off cause it’s staining
Can you explain more on what the steel one is used for? For example in past dentist appointments they put a few of them with steel and the most of them with the rubber ones.
Thanks again for your videos Dr.Greg. I have a steel ligature chain on both top and bottom of my Damon braces. I believe I'm on my final wires but wanted to know why my orthodontist may have used the steel ligature wire chain instead of the elastic colourful power chain? Any ideas? Your the only one on RUclips who explains things in detail and so well :)
Ah thank you so much! The steel ligature wire is much more hygienic and easier to keep clean. Especially if you are just trying to hold the space closed
I currently have the 6-month smile adult braces. They are clear but after a few days the elastics stain and it’s very unsightly. I’ve learned a lot from your videos. Could you do a detailed video about this specific treatment? Thanks!
omg last month when I got new o-rings they literally forgot to place one on the last bracket in the back and luckily I noticed while I was in the car before I left so I was able to go back. That brings me to my next question though, what if they placed the wire underneath a single bracket? Is that some procedure with a purpose or is it possible they mistakenly missed it? Thanks for all these informative and educational videos!!!
Sometimes it has the purpose of "extruding" a tooth to make more tooth available to reposition the bracket more towards the gums (check out the video on wire bending for more explanation)
I have the damon system with a very light gray power chain underneath !! Love how easy it is to undo a door and take a bracket off when I break them away from my tooth on accident 😂
Your videos are always so helpful! Thank you! Can you explain what a button is? I’m getting a lingual button next month and I’m not familiar with them. It will tie into my bottom teeth with elastics.
I've had my elastics for about 4 weeks now. Elastics on both sides to fix an under bite. So far, I've been getting some major ear aches. Not sure if the movement of my teeth is causing discomfort
Hi Dr. Greg! At my last adjustment they changed my rubberbands on my bottom teeth and I was in excruciating pain! I have a high pain tolerance and I feel like it isnt normal to hurt that bad when just changing rubberbands. They applied pressure on my teeth while changing them it used to give me relief before but not anymore. Is there something in my routine that I'm not doing right? Is there something I can do to prevent this? My tighting doesnt hurt as bad as this. Thanks!
Just curious how you are feeling now since you posted this comment 5 months ago. I was told the bottom teeth are more sensitive especially the front teeth. Having any fillings will make your teeth more sensitive to.
When your orthodontist doesn't answer what you want to know but Dr.Greg does this for you😂 Thank you
Aww that means so much =] Thank you !!

Yes a vid on damon braces! Thank you! Getting my braces tightened for the 3rd time next week, getting power chains this time.
I thought that you get powerchains near the end of treatment where all of your teeth are in the final position
Yup same here. Turns out its just to close my gaps so it's being done early on. I won't get bands however until much later on like normal
What do you think if i put a powerchain on my bamn braces,, i got it like 2 weeks ago
Tina Pourshirazi You can get chains at anytime during treatment. I have patients with them immediately.
i am planning on getting Damon braces.. they the very expensive tho

Can you make a video about missing teeth and braces?
