- Noam Dworman and Dan Naturman have a round table to discuss the episode with Philip Bump that went viral.
Eli Lake is a journalist and the former senior national security correspondent for The Daily Beast and Newsweek. Currently, he is a columnist for the Bloomberg View. He has, among others, contributed to CNN, Fox, C-SPAN and Charlie Rose.
Created and hosted by Mike Pesca, The Gist is the longest running daily news podcast in history, consistently ranked in Apple's Top 20 Daily News charts. In addition to guest hosting NPR Programs, he has frequently appeared on MSNBC, CNN, and The PBS Newshour, and written for The Washington Post, The Guardian, GQ, and more.
Michael Moynihan is a journalist, former National Correspondent for Vice News and co-host of The Fifth Column podcast. He was the cultural news editor for The Daily Beast/Newsweek, and the managing editor of Vice magazine.
"Aggressive lack of curiosity" is an excellent description of Bump and "journalists" of that ilk.
Joe Biden's corruption would seem to pass the 'balance of probability' test and ought to have any journalist worthy of the name wanting to dig deeper.
But the co-option of the entire machinery of Govt to run interference for the democrat party is, at this point, INARGUABLE, yet Bump and people like him just refuse to accept even that.
It is indefensible.
Guys like Philip Bump live in their own bubble. The reason why you cannot believe journalists anymore, they only report what is within their own narrative.
In this video Mike Pesca also appears to fit that description.
We are all capable of viewing the actions of those we support in the most positive light and making excuses for them. Mike Pesca is closer to that fault than Bump's full-on denial.
For him to pretend there is no "there" there when looking at the Biden corruption story, should immediately disqualify Bump from ever describing himself as "Objective" or "A Journalist" ever again. @@austinechomusic
I came here for the follow up to the Philip Bump video😃
"All conclusions and no evidence vs all this evidence and no conclusions!" Nailed it.
Some of these guys would make great points but the TDS is so strong it's clouding their judgement.
Mike Pesca is off his head!
It's never enough ass kissing for you zombies, huh?
I agree. As someone from the Midwest I’m starting to believe that just about the majority of people on both coasts are all like this and just parrot the same talking points..
the professional-managerial class is having their eyes opened... now they need to understand what the majority of the working class of this country endures from their white-glove face slapping
The claim as to whether Shokin was actually corrupt or not at the time of Joe's push to oust him, seems unsupported in light of the information weeks before, provided by the State Dept., especially from Nuland, that Shokin was doing a good job.
Does Moynihan ever go 10 minutes without ranting?
Michael Moynihan, you are my new favorite podcaster, political observer, journalist (?). A close second to Douglas Murray.
Want to say a few things to Noam.
1. Your description of journalists as Sharks who have lost the taste for blood is one of the most Apt descriptions I have heard and it was seen over and over with Bump.
2. Bumps entire argument was in simple terms: "You said X happened, but I said Y contradicts the thing you said and therefore I am right"
This is antithetical to journalism. If you have two competing statements, in no way do you latch onto one of them and refuse to accept the other. What a journalist is SUPPOSED to do is look into each statement or event and find the truth. At minimum, two competing statements or events merits further investigation.
You deserve a ton of respect for what you did. I'm a conservative and probably disagree with you on 90% of things, but as a conservative, it's nice to see people on the other side seeing how bad journalism has devolved.
When you start to see that the entire industry's goal is to prevent Donald Trump(I don't like and will not vote for him) from being elected, you can see the lengths they go to to try and stop it.
I don't know how they ever get their reputation back. No one trusts them anymore.
All these people are conservatives. They're just too proud not to wear the red hat.
@@vinnym5607.... I bet you that anyone who stands next to AOC.. or The Gretta... or Richard Wolfe... hell anyone standing next to Mao... On their right side... In today's woke diarrhea, cotton candy, dumpster fire zeitgeist .. Thats the Supreme Court, Jim Jones, Tina Turner Saddam Hussein, mother Teresa and Janet Reno declaring you a conservative.. they make you carry papers identifying you as a conservative.. They tie you down and a "C" is carved into your forehead with a combat knife...
Stop trying to compare everyone to a standard that has moved a billion light years from where it was 5 or 10 years ago.... It's stop ignoring all the liberals that are not only leaving the Democratic party .. but are actively mobilizing like-minded folks that believe in free speech and pluralism and inalienable rights.. and obliterating the rotting facade of this libtard wokenati Inquisition...
Your think you see more conservatives out there because Overton window has shifted hard hard left... and you are sliding right along with it..
It's not the people on the shore that are moving... It's you on the boat...
@@vinnym5607ha ha that’s hilarious. Maybe being a conservative means something different in the Midwest Vs NYC, but maybe this is just what “conservatives” are in NYC. They seem pretty far left imho
Loving this show, but it is amazin’ how far people will go to brush over unethical/illegal behavior committed by folks on “their team”
What an interesting interview! I thought the host had amazing restraint and was genuinely pressing the issues. This "journalist" lacked journalistic curiosity...He sounded like a political activist. 💯
I've always thought, there's a small and simple difference between society's two yammering classes of career debaters: lawyers must aggressively argue for their clients, no matter how they feel about it; journalists must argue aggressively for both sides of an argument, no matter how they feel about it.
This roundtable is a great example of both principles in balance.
I'm one of those who is here courtesy of the Internet. Specifically, hat tip to The Grayzone channel, who gave y'all credit, and, yes, showed just the delicious melty clip part. Really something! He was like "I feel you WANT me to leave! Is that it? Cos I COULD leave, I COULD walk out of here if you want me to! Please, let me walk out of here! The questions are too ouchy!" Sad, man. He left in such a HUFF. Maybe he should moonlight at that other Post...
These guys have obviously not read the 12th Amendment.
1:13:37 Fake News! Jake Angeli, the "Qanon Shaman" wore a fur headdress with bison horns, not a helmet. Also vikings didn't have horns on their helmets.
5:58 ... You held up so well Noam... Like you could tell you were frustrated but you totally kept your cool... You didn't let your emotions do a donkey show on your forehead and vocal cords like Bump did the entire time..
Bump acted like Malcolm gladwell in that debate on media bias that he had with Matt Taobbi and Douglas Murray..
I got so fucking mad when he says all Matt does is pushing agenda... Tybee has more fucking journalism in him then bump... .. no I can't even say bump has any journalism in him..
Matt has all the journalism... Bump has negative journalism..v
This is so boring. You guys still believe what you're told by the powers that be. If a professional athlete or real-estate developer has millions of dollars, that makes sense. If a lifelong politician has millions, if not hundreds of millions of dollars, that makes no sense. You want to nibble around the edges and that makes it boring.
Sorry but Michael’s voice is too winey and was very disappointed how he treated Tyler Fisher when he was on- didn’t even do any due diligence, no proper intro & when you guys read off his accomplishments it was if you were bored & dragging, it was not good. Tyler Fisher is awesome & deserves more respect. Frankly any guest deserves more
respect (except Bump, Noam was good to him)
Tyler Fisher is a regular on one of the world's most covetted comedy stages- Noam's club. A little more important than mood of a podcast conversation, would You say?
And as for a whiney voice.. seriously.
Whiney=Jewey. Love how they give credence to the 'Shokin is corrupt' coming from State Dept et al
.... couldn't possibly be any more whiny than Bump....
Mike Pesca 😅
38:24 spot on... Fucking spot on...
Are we still pretending this isn't a right wing channel?
So sweaty and desperate to help their grifter daddy.
lol what? Are you trolling, because this is not remotely close to right wing.
Does being unobjective equate to right wing?
