The tone on that 1965 Fender Precision 3TS is great. Although the only difference with the CAR is the fingerboard, I can notice more output on the 3TS. Maybe it has to do with the pickup height setup, but for me is the best of the three.
Pickup height is similar, around 3mm from the bottom of the low E and top of the pickup. Rest were adjusted accordingly. Strings on the 3TS is slightly older (roughly 7yrs, more play time) vs 4-5 .
