Alleva Coppolo 81009 old fashioned electric bass 5 test drive
Don’t know the exact figure but I bet it counts about 3,000 or so
Nice demo. Strings used?
Labella low tension flat
As I suspected it sounds perfect. The amount of brightness you get with flats and this bass is astounding. The annoying zing of roundwounds is gone.
brightness came from the extra hardness of cobalt i think, it's like a super bright flats that ended up sounded like the nickel .. great punch with characters
That's PJ bass
Does this have the darkglass preamp inside?
no, this one has the 2 band tone pump ..
Do you still have this bass?
not anymore unfortunately
Nice demo. Thx. How old are the strings in the vid? Have they settled into that tone or are they still new?
not new .. the cobolt flat were on anothe bass for a year probably .. hour was sort of low so still got some brightness ..
@@tree-style thank you! They sound great.
Art sounds very well. Which one you like the most?
yeah .. Art PDB(dPDB) sounded surprisingly well in this shootout .. thanks for pointing it out .. My preference are - BAE 1073DMP for Jazz bass, REDDI for Precision and the RNDI in my gigging backpack . I own and use them regularly on PA gigs I do as well ..
After first note was my big like.
I like the Rupert Neve Design - RNDI
@@RootsBassCanada yeah, the rndi is exceptional
When you don't watch the video, but only listen, there is no difference. Don't listen with your eyes, guys)
these boxes don't tend to alter the sound of the instrument, and they're all good example of how a quality clean tube preamp for bass should sounded like ... differences are subtle but audible to my ears .
great bass, awsome sound, cute child
thank you for the kind words
Hi! Do you still have this bass?
not any more ...
@@tree-style I've got the chance to buy one. What did you think about it? Feel and tone wise
@@jjnnmmnnll Check the link in the description. I have some thoughts written down.
@@tree-style Thanks! Would you recommend it?
@@jjnnmmnnll I like most Stingrays from the year 2000 era .. single H ceramic pickup, 3 band EQ with no switch tend to be my favourite ... this one is special and got character .. it's more urban compare to other rays from the same era, go for it if that's the vibe you're looking for . the figure on the top varies on these instruments .. nicer ones are hard to come by if visual mattress to you ..
Are you really big or is it really small?
neither ... I'm average asian size .. and the bass is that much different than any of the split-coil precisions . could be the angle of the camera that makes the body looking a bit short
@@tree-style Ok it has to be cam angle it looked small. But guys like Greg Koch make a 335 look like toys so I had to ask because I want one.
so cool sound😁
@@chandoll_0219 I have another video with the same bass in flat wound. Check it out when you have a chance.
with the bridge pickup soloed does it give the same sound as the 4H (single pickup)? Some reviews say it doesn't quite get there. What are your impressions of the bridge pickup soloed?
close enough I'd say .. these Stingray Specials nailed that 'Stingray' thing in a refined way and they're very consistent ... I believe (like 70% sure) they move the bridge pickup position on the HH models to the identical to where the single H sits .. they used to be offed by a bit that I'm pretty sure ... in reality, the output impedance will never be the same because of the extra wires and pu, and also the extra magnetic field on the neck PU will more or less affect the vibration .. I don't believe they'll be identical to the Single H model but close enough .. and the HH does offer alot more usable sounds . If I'm really after a Stingray sound, the single H would do. those are wild and has its magic .. if it's your only bass, and you're planning to do different style of music then the HH can cover more ..
What strings are you using?
has been a while .. it should be the MTD brand stainless steel if I remember correctly ..
@@tree-style thanks👍🏿
BEST sounding fretless on the market!
Please tell me where I can get the slap it guide 🙏
It's called Slap It by Tony Oppenheim
Does it have chrome covers? Or is it gold?
chrome
판매하시나요?
I asked jim stinnett when he was still alive which he preferred for an upright like sound, the mb2 or the mouse 30. He very quickly replied; "without a doubt the mouse 30 "
Very cool.
Nice
Hey, man! Cool demo! Do you happen to know if those were DC or TW emg's?
hey .. sorry . . it's been a while and I don't recall which EMGs they are ..
@@tree-style Thanks for the response, man! My guess is that they're TW's, since the label looks to be red. Looking to buy an euro5 and I can't decide between DC's and TW's. Awesome chanel, keep up the good work! :D
Parallel position switch...
yup ... parallel all the way
sick man!
What your opinion three years later? Good investment?
雙拾音器的聲音真的很棒!👍
3擋線圈全開的聲音也只有HH款才有
Ash body ?
black limba .. there's a link in the description with more written thoughts and photos
Where is this bass now?
It was sold to a local guy here in Toronto, then he quickly flipped it afterward I believe ..
Having viewed countless videos of the Reddi Vs the Noble. I think I'm leaning towards the Reddi. The Nobel sounds more pleasing initially to my ear, but the more I listen the deep lows are almost not as harmonic as the Reddi. The Reddi however has a little bit more mid forward tone. Any Reddi users out there who like to play low subs, can EQ'ing out a little mids dial it back a little?
Nice! These seem quite bottom end focused but with a nice character in the top end. What are your thoughts about these compared to the Dimarzios?
there's a link in the description with some more written info about the 2 pickups
Whoops, I missed that. Thanks. I have the Dimarzio 60s P too and I like the unique punch and sensitivity, combined with the classicness of it.
From the appearance of this pickup you wouldn’t expect it to sound so authentically 60s. For this reason I wonder if it would be avoided by some. Great sound and playing!
kudo to all the modern touches they put into these builds. It took them long enough to roll out something in this vintage spec, in such elegant way with all the fine details ..
I agree! True, they really are enhanced vintage styled pickups, as you would expect from Dimarzio. Fantastic and probably underrated pickups!
Excellent demo! I'm seriously considering a Mouse 30 or a Deep 4 fretless. I love the finger board extension -- functional and a really nice aesthetic component of the design.
yeah .. that extended fingerboard is classy ... to me that's Rob's signature ... Mouse is overall dark, mb-2 is overall bright .. and deep 4/5 is in-between with the most acoustical sounding ... love them all ..
Any hate comment I could leave would just be me being jealous that I don't have that bass
Well, they do give you a gig bag with a $3k instrument….there’s that.
This is a weird video. How do you know which is which?
please check the link in the description
These were the best Stingrays ever made. 2 band pre and alnico pickup with all the modern improvements to the rest of the bass.
yeah ... these are the best of both new/old school ... the overall tone range are alot more usable than the classic lines ..
Could I buy a lower end stingray, then put the highest end pick up in it myself. Because the specials a little above my pay grade. 🫤
I’d say save up for a used one. Many of the ebmm ray’s from the 90s, early 2000 are really nice and you can often find them at a deal. I personally like the heavy ones. Imo, ebmm makes the best mm style basses but their parts are proprietary and not available to the public. It’s also the overall build of the whole package that makes them famous
Nice video! I have an StingRay 5 in Blue on back order with Sweetwater , hope I get it next month sometime! Can’t wait!!
thank you .. and congrats with your coming new instrument ..
What bass is this?
It's a Sadowsky NYC
sounds good
Made in??
Legit the best demo of this bass "or any bass" online, this sounds amazing, great playing, great great sound. and thanks for not having a 2 minute animated intro with 3 minutes of talking before you play and having 5 minutes of things to say between every tone switch. Everyone on youtube doing guitar demos needs to watch this video and treat it as their bible. Took me way longer than i wanted to find a straight good demo of this bass. thanks for existing,
Thank you for your kind words, glad this is helpful.
Also, no effects on the signal so we can actually, y'know, hear what the instrument actually sounds like.
Great sound
I like all 3!!! Subtle differences… but to my taste and ear: 1. Noble 2. REDDI 3. Bergantino
Curios about this 4 wondering if its my old bass I sold?
i don't believe so ... mine came straight from Jimmy
@@tree-style Oh ok cool how are you liking it ?
@@BassSouthwest well, I gave up on finding an old fender jazz and went with the next best thing out there. And was blown away by Jimmy’s work .. really full/bold sounding, very delicate and sweet.
Thanks for the reply bass looks great old Fenders are a huge conversation topic @@tree-style
in some cases it may not be the next best thing out there
These sound amazing in drop b
Sounds amazing
Wow, it sounds amazing. Though It basically sounds like a vintage Fender Jazz bass.
Yeah .. don’t think I’m gonna afford an old jazz(at least not without trying), went with the next best I can possibly get and Jimmy did it again .. strings are zingggy new still ….
