A few years ago, I tried to share this special with my parents for Dad’s birthday, but unfortunately, they couldn’t go beyond the opening scene here, as to them, their memory of Fred and Wilma Flintstone was too pure and amicable for them to imagine them on this level of animosity with each other. Mom especially couldn’t conceive of Fred ever being that mean-spirited or dismissive. I felt really ashamed. It was the one sign that proved to me once and for all that the storytelling values of Savino and Smith, at least before Savino’s disgrace, never fit with my or my family’s better convictions.

In a way, Warner Bros. is like Nintendo when it comes to media-preservation. People want to be able to have access to all their productions. But unfortunately, they don’t just don’t release them through either modern accessibility or in WB’s case, give them physical media copies. And if they do with the latter, it’s usually missing some stuff like the Ed, Edd, n, Eddy Complete Series. (It’s ironically a scam that they marketed as “complete” when it really wasn’t!)

Fred and Wilma would never get like this in the original, and definitely not physical, Wilma breaking a plate on Fred's head would be shocking enough.

Marriage is something that truly develop people but development requires conflict. Just as developing a strong physique requires giving unpleasant challenges to your body and pushing it past its limits. People remaining single for life never truly know what it is to be an adult or a good person.

Love the jazzy and bigband music of the Flintstones theme, they arranged it excellently here. This art style fits magnificently with the type of show this is, having a whole series like this will work, especially if they execute it well.

This special really wasn't very good. It's got way too much of that latter day _Dexter's Lab_ and _Powerpuff Girls_ humor where they'd loop animations and sound bites over and over purely to pad out the runtime. That scene where Fred and Wilma are eating dinner in silence other than making awkward noises over and over again for like thirty seconds is a prime example.
