The fact that only now there's the capability of self-driving cars integrated with AI modules makes me realize how futuristic and visionary Knight Rider really was 40 years ago. Amazing!
Well, art's limit is only someone's imagination. By that standard star trek would be the most visionary of all since we still don't have most of the technology portrayed there.
Still primitive in comparison, both in the software and in the mechanics; software will probably get there in at most a couple years though. A street-legal car that can repeatedly perform and survive stunts, is probably outside the reach of the budget without significant changes to the world; but the software ecosystem is starting to get into the positive feedback loop where advances will continuously happen sooner than most people expect, on average. Either way, I don't expect it's gonna come from Tesla though, Elon has consistently demonstrated a deterioration on his ability to improve things, and in many aspects, has already crossed into the negative territory.
Actually it would be closer if the Tesla had lidar, then it would've stopped for the stairs. Honestly, I don't know why Musk doesn't put lidar in them, all other self driving automobiles have it.
@@onidaaitsubasa4177 it’s expensive, physically large and messed up by rain and snow. But it does mystify me that Tesla does not use a front facing camera in the front grille, which would really help with parking, but I guess keeping that camera clean would be a nightmare.

That made my inner child smile the whole time. At long last, 40-ish years later, the fiction of KR is being fully realized. Makes me wonder if in 5 years (3... 1???) time, will fully interactive chat avatars become a standard option for any modernized car. Because it sure feels like a way to whittle away those long miles during that next car based vacation trip. And... got to smirk at the Tesla auto pilot missing that entire set of stairs. Feels like the time when KITT questioned what a trolly car in San Fran was.

The Trans Am may does not drive itself, but it's always nice to have a chat with KITT with the new AI Box placed in the dashboard. It's beautiful and can impress anyone who rides in the passenger seat.

The shifting accent really hits, especially when KITT goes Aussie. Shame, but understandable that Daniels doesn't want his voice to be included, can see why. And honestly, next gen KITT should be reminiscent of Daniels but not the exact facsimile. Freaking hyped to see this tech in the Pontiac, that's going to be trippy.
You could technically make the TransAm drive itself. There is a EV conversion company in the UK that also does work with CommaAI. I cant remember the name right now but i watched a video where they put full self driving into an old Mazda MX5 and it worked great.

Many have tried to replicate it long before ai was so mainstream, by using voice command and programming audio clip responses from the show, but this is just next level!

Unfortunately, I can't take part in the competition. The German TÜV would take the car completely apart. I would then have to install KITT in a portable TV set and carry it around with me 😅
This is wild. I've been sitting on a similar idea of using an LLM as a "car companion" for a while. You wouldn't have to have it be KITT, you could come up with your own persona and stuff of course. So since you've beat me on building such a thing, I'll just leave this here and see if you pick it up. What if you use an Arduino CANBUS interface, which you can read everything being sent on the bus and use an LLM to decode the signals, that can pair with your phone via bluetooth and you could have KAITT interface with the car via listening and maybe even sending info back onto the CANBUS without having to go out to the cloud via API to get things like closing the door and such to work. ;) Might be worth looking into, at least for the Teslas. Mapping everything for other makes and models of cars might be out of scope. But whatever. Just gonna leave that here... :)

LOL, you are 3 week ahead of my project with the app. I also used CGP-4o and eleven labs. Fighting right now with tesla for the automation. It is nice to see more people make it work. No self driving for me, it's a S 85 from 2013...
If only we were already at a stage (in April 2024) where KITT’s auto-drove technology was consumer grade. I do not mind repeating that having an amenity like it at my disposal would permit me to live anywhere without needing a real motorist to get my legally-blind self places where there’s no public transportation. It would also be worth getting an interfaced smart watch (when I haven’t strapped on a watch in seven or eight years) for opening the doors, hood and rear.
I loved this video, Michael! 😁I'd really like to see the instruction used for the custom ChatGPT assistant, it was masterfully written and gave Kitt the perfect amount of charm, humour and complete belief that he was really Kitt. Brilliant stuff. If someone in the UK won Kittesla and he/she tried to make the car drive autonomously, would it refuse because it would be aware it's in the UK and it doesn't have permission to drive autonomously? Does FLAG have an override code for that? 😂
FSD won't be active right but only yesterday Tesla were taking the German authorities for test drives with FSD and the beta is now open in other parts of Europe so I'm guessing UK late this year.

I met KITT at Universal Studios in 1996 when me and my mum went to L.A for a two week holiday from the UK.We went to find all the Knight Rider filming locations/Baywatch locations.We found the houses used as the Foundation mansions. Greystone Mansion in LA was one and the other was at 1145 Arden Road ,PasadenaWe even found the Baywatch headquarters.

LOL, you are 3 week ahead of my project with the app. I also used CGP-4o and eleven labs. Fighting right now with tesla for the automation. It is nice to see more people make it work. No self driving for me, it's a S 85 from 2013...

If only we were already at a stage (in April 2024) where KITT’s auto-drove technology was consumer grade. I do not mind repeating that having an amenity like it at my disposal would permit me to live anywhere without needing a real motorist to get my legally-blind self places where there’s no public transportation. It would also be worth getting an interfaced smart watch (when I haven’t strapped on a watch in seven or eight years) for opening the doors, hood and rear.
Sitting in the Kitt car back in the 80s at Universal was a wonderful childhood memory

I loved this video, Michael! 😁I'd really like to see the instruction used for the custom ChatGPT assistant, it was masterfully written and gave Kitt the perfect amount of charm, humour and complete belief that he was really Kitt. Brilliant stuff.
If someone in the UK won Kittesla and he/she tried to make the car drive autonomously, would it refuse because it would be aware it's in the UK and it doesn't have permission to drive autonomously? Does FLAG have an override code for that? 😂
FSD won't be active right but only yesterday Tesla were taking the German authorities for test drives with FSD and the beta is now open in other parts of Europe so I'm guessing UK late this year.

Can you link your Apple Watch to KITT so he can read your Heart rate?? It would be cool for you to ask him to check your vital signs or for him to ask if you are ok when your heart rate is high.

I met KITT at Universal Studios in 1996 when me and my mum went to L.A for a two week holiday from the UK.We went to find all the Knight Rider filming locations/Baywatch locations.We found the houses used as the Foundation mansions.
Greystone Mansion in LA was one and the other was at 1145 Arden Road ,PasadenaWe even found the Baywatch headquarters.
