They were incredible, and the fact that at least one of them are huge KR fans who actually work there because of the show, was the icing on the cake. College of the Canyons is a wonderful establishment, as is the Advanced Technology Center: atc.canyons.edu
Being a massive Knight Rider fan but living in the UK I rely on you and the K.R Historians for this stuff which I could never do. Thank you for the nostalgia.
This is a great video, I love being able to look at "then and now" videos of movie and TV filming locations , thank you to the staff and others at the location for letting us in to have a look and film 👍
Wow, so many goose bump moments there. especially the double door outline still on the wall where you faded out the 80s footage leaving the outline visible, and the roller shutter coming down with the big 5 still on it. Amazing work here Peri.
That's lovely to hear, as when I'm editing these I only know how it makes _me_ feel. It's true joy when that translates to the new viewer of this as well. 🙏
Youve made my day.. Thanks for the tour..Wish I had time to reminiscing this part of the 80s.. It was so cooooolll. Way bettet than now.. Keep them coming and maybe one day we will cross Paths
That was amazing. I really appreciate you going back to the original film location so we can all rehash nostalgia. Thank you for taking the time to out this together along with all of the other episodes with finding the location for The Duel and Knight Rider. Those were the best days and you’re bringing them back to life again for us all.
Seeing that number 5 on the door was WILD! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. So many bloopers kn this episode but my favourite was always the fact that you could spot primer KITT early, in the background of the shop when they were still focusing on acid KITT. One last thing, the echoing audio from the show in the corridor etc... goosebumps! 10/10 production dude
I think what gets me about videos like this is that so many of my personal places from my childhood are gone. My school torn down, my video game arcade turned into someone's law office, shops where I bought my D&D stuff and plastic model kits replaced nail salons and pawn shops. It's nice to see something endure, even if it is in a changed form.
What an absolutely epic and well crafted video - the walk around and fades into episode footage with the Knight Rider 2000 theme tune gave me goosebumps!
Wow! I’m stunned, I can’t believe the lengths you went to in order to find this location, the footage you got, and the amount of work that went into putting this video together. I am blown away! Thanks for doing this!!
"WOW" Perifractic: you have dusted out the cobwebs and ignited wonderful memories from a loved past history of mine. Watching your exploring of KIT's filming history gives me goosebumps and feelings of how lucky I have been growing up and being a family in the 1980s. Thank you.
Thank you! I sometimes can't believe I was alive in the 80s, yet alone conscious and alert enough to experience it all. It feels like a magical time that shouldn't be allowed to be visited, yet here we are today...
Incredible finding. I love how you're putting all those memories together and blend them with today's reality. Thanks for sharing that pure moment of nostalgia with us.
Hello, I am writing these lines as a child who grew up with Kitt in the 1980s, thank you very much, I am forty-five years old now and I pray to have a copy of Kitt one day 🙏🏻
Great research, I come from Germany and look forward to every new episode you upload. If I had the opportunity to live in Los Angeles, I would have set out to find film locations 😊 keep it up and best wishes from Germany
We were so lucky to be kids when Knight Rider was on tv & these videos are the kind of stuff youtube was made for, thank you for making such great nostalgic entertainment
You know now that things have settled in after watching this about an hour ago, I must say this is legendary documentary film making that hits the deepest parts of the heart and soul.
Amazing nostalgia. This was one of my favorite episodes when I was a kid as well. It aired February 3 of 1985, exactly 39 years ago. Season three Episode 14 junk yard dog. Thanks so much!
Being a huge Knight Rider fan and a former student there, i am blown away. I used to walk down that exact hallway several times a week. Very cool video, and great detective work. thanks!
I recon this building was also used in Knights of the Fast Lane, Season 3. I think the corridor at 11:44 is the same corridor at 42 mins into the episode. Also 38 mins into the episode there is a roller shutter door with the number 1 on it. Looks very similar to numbers in this vid. Ceiling lights the same too.
7:06 "Well I guess that makes me a Knight Rider Historian"... We see what you did there.... And we appreciate the shout out!!!! 😉 Of course, fantastic video, as always, Peri!!!!
What an amazing trip down memory lane. How wonderful the feeling must have been when you found this location. I rewatch Knight Rider (every episode) at least once a year. Here's to hoping we get a new movie/TV show based on it in the future.
I'm not even a Knight Rider fan (though maybe I'll become one) but I love how much you love what you love. I totally get it and appreciate you sharing it.
Thank you for giving us a glimpse of the past Knight Rider locations, this was one episode I couldn't watch without crying when I was a kid, Knight Rider was a huge part of my childhood as I have seen KITT in person. I still have my Knight Rider poster on my wall. Thanks to those people at the school for letting you walk around the building. Can't wait for part 2 of this video.
Oh my thank you for taking us on this journey I got shivers down my spine and shout out to the woman that came out the bathroom what an absolute legend ❤
Junkyard Dogs really shook me as a kid... The thought of KITT... dead... It was just so much for a little kid. Seeing him be rebuilt wasn't just a neat scene for me... It was _needed!_ KITT _had to live_ again!
Man i so loved this and that music was perfect and i can not wait to see the next part of this. As always keep up the amazing work and have a great weekend, so until then take care 🙂🙂
I could watch these kinds of videos for days, your exploring is just amazing. And I did not expect these buildings and doors to still be there 40 years later, absolutely brilliant.
I'm getting sentimental with old age... went to see the Junk Yard Dog episode and cried when Michael heard KITT making jokes while describing the city of Helena, Montana.
I can say that in this episode I was disoriented quite a lot about direction and positions... until you brought it all together in the end. This really illustrated the situation well and I felt I went on the rollercoaster with you. Great Job. BTW: I kind of remember this episode, but even as a kid I thought some of the "repairs" were hokey...anyway, it's all about telling a great story and having fun. Cheers!
So glad the illustrations and edits worked! It's always hard to judge how much a new viewer will get of what I'm showing so I tried to strike a good balance without over-explaining.
@@RetroRecipes I think you had a huge challenge because of the remodeling done, but it was luck that you ran into someone that knew the history and helped you sort out the mystery! Even though it's a bit of trivia, those details and research made this episode complete and it wrapped up beautifully in the end!
The echos of the past are a nice touch and solidify the fact those iconic scenes in Junk Yard Dog were filmed there so many years ago. The most touching effect was placing the image of Micheal peering through the lector room doors into bay 3. Fortunately for us the alterations to the building have been minor. Hopefully they allow the building to remain as close to its filming condition as possible. It is awesome that one of the teachers is aware of the role the facility played in 1980s television history.
After years of watching RUclips, this is the first time I've ever sent a Super Thanks--I had to set it up and everything. This was my favorite/heartbreaking episode of Knight Rider from my childhood. Thank you for putting in all the work and dedication to finding this piece of my childhood.

That was brilliant, fantastic find and excellent editing. Was so good of the school to allow you to wander. I was 8 years old when this came to the UK and I never would have dreamt it would hold such interest all these years later. Rewatched the entire series again recently and still love it.
This bought back memories of watching this episode on a Thursday night at 730pm on Thames TV (peri will be able to relate this). This episode bought a lump to my throat back in the day, and as you say the music on the episode was extra good (one of the tunes sounding a bit like axel f which came out shortly afterwards). Thanks for the hard work perifactic
That was awesome i thought my brother and i were the only ones crazy enough to find filming locations we are going to the usa next year on a knight rider location finding tour thanks for the memories ❤
I've never been a huge fan of the show, but I do love a good filming location hunt! Great video, Sir! :) And many thanks to folks at the school to let you film! :)
really, these vids always get me in the feels. Growing up in germany I have seen episodes of the cult 80s shows like Knight Rider, Airwolf, Miami Vice, Riptide (I loved the nerd hacker in that show :) ) only sporadically, so while i loved them I never got that attached since I never really was able to watch it regularly in order, though I remember them very very fondly. But you really manage to draw me in with your clear love for the show. When you finally realized where the rooms are you had me grinning with relief and even getting a bit teary eyed. Can't wait for the next episode and kudos for the people from the school for allowing you back with even more access, really cool.
We will look back on these years of Retro Recipes fondly as the Knight Rider years, but I really would love to see your channel go deep on another topic sometime.

Speaking of which, could we please get an update on any progress you’ve made on it? Whenever you get a chance, of course, considering all the fun I hope you’re having with Babyfractic.
Understandably Junkyard Dog is a favourite episode of many, back in the day I didn't always record Knight Rider, but I definitely recorded Junkyard Dog on VHS and I just about wore that tape out. Takes me back to a happier place in time. In retrospect as an adult in a world with the internet and backups my number one question now is "why isn't KITT just regularly backed up" so that if anything like this happens, you just build another one, but obviously that takes away all the drama! Fabulous seeing these locations and even cooler that they know there's a history there. Look forward to seeing the continuation!
Mega video Perifractic. It looks like I clicked on the link anyway. All to see Knight Rider-based Retro Fun. Seeing that room full of Apple II computers may explain the Apple Soft KITT integration that took place in a later episode. I look forward to more Revelations from you and the Knight Rider Historians. KITTesla is still going strong I see.

Hi from the UK. Long-time KR fan (&KRH sub.) here. What a great production; appreciate the time and effort that has obviously gone into creating this. I got goosebumps when the KR2000 theme started up! Subscribed (finally!)
This is great. The 'rebuild' Axel-F sequence cue from "Junk Yard Dog" was the track I re-recorded for Don Peake that sparked the first re-release of his music in 1997 . It's my favourite episode up there with the pilot I think. Fantastic job as usual .
I saw this by a recommend. I've seen some episodes in the past, they aired on UK television as far back in 2017 on a channel. Played the PS2 games nine years back. Pretty old now. I wouldn't watch through the whole series. I don't recall this episode. If you are a regular watcher, you may. I do recall one episode where they controlled the car using a game pad or something now. Pong video game controller that was it, one episode may of been season 3 or 4.
Very interesting. These kind of episodes will be a nice time tracker showing how the world changes, but that some of the past is still with us if you look.
Awesome filming location tour, looking forward to that next episode from this location :) Junk Yard Dog was indeed very memorable episode, KITT getting destroyed in that acid pit, what a shocking thing to see as a kid.

The elation as the floor plan falls into place !
This is great. The 'rebuild' Axel-F sequence cue from "Junk Yard Dog" was the track I re-recorded for Don Peake that sparked the first re-release of his music in 1997 . It's my favourite episode up there with the pilot I think. Fantastic job as usual .
Wow could you share a linky with me please? peri@perifractic.com 🙏
I shall look back in my archive emails as it was pre-gmail! and whatever I find i'll send your way sir @@RetroRecipes
Very cool, enjoy the journey of discovery and sleuthing!
Incredible detective work!
Looking forward to more!
Brought back many memories, great use of the original music. The remix of knight Rider 2000 is awesome. 😊😊
As a child of the 70s/80s and a current Valencia resident, I found this episode fascinating! Great work!
You should go visit :)
@@RetroRecipes Good point. I think I will!👍
Very interesting. These kind of episodes will be a nice time tracker showing how the world changes, but that some of the past is still with us if you look.
great episode and what nice people to let you in
Awesome filming location tour, looking forward to that next episode from this location :)
Junk Yard Dog was indeed very memorable episode, KITT getting destroyed in that acid pit, what a shocking thing to see as a kid.
Totally dedicated search and as a Knight rider fan myself, I totally appreciated everything you have done.
That was awesome...great detective work....Ive just stumbled across your videos and had a smile on my face all the way through....knight rider was a big part of my chilhood as it was for many....looking forward to the next ESIPODE haha 🤣 subbed 👍
Welcome!
Love the 1991 Knight Rider 2000 tv film theme tune you often play, probably the best thing about said tv film.
