- Is the BMW 330e all the car you’d ever need? Given this plug-in hybrid mixes electrified efficiency and BMW handling into a practical mid-sized saloon body, we think it might just be. What makes it even more appealing is how this 100mpg-plus-capable saloon can be had for well under £20,000. Now that’s tempting... During a recent trip to the Highlands of Scotland, we put BMW's F30-generation 330e to the test.

Sometimes reviewers on YT just know how to present properly and don't drag the review. You've nailed it so you have a new sub. Keep doing what you're doing. I'd like to see you review the 435D.. 👆
Very informative. Really nice easy to listen to guy too!
Brilliant review
Great review and honest about mpg. Could you do a review on the 4 series grand coupe and Audi A4/A5 as well? 2017-2019 error?
I ve got one drivers superb it’s 7 years old now and battery still strong hopefully for a long time yet
Note this is the larger battery. The 2018 model is the 7 kWh battery. Which will get you a massive 12-15 miles on electric.
Thank you for the informative review, but this may be the only review that I've watched, that says the trunk (boot) is spacious. Almost all the others say the trunk space is significantly compromised.
I have one of these and I love it drives beautifully..
Are they good on fuel?
The problem with those PHEVs is that for the amount of range you're getting it should only take up to 30 mins to recharge the car. As an audi a3 etron owner I gave up charging it in public places of I'm only going for a quick shopping because it will gave me mabye 3 miles from empty.
Hey. I will buy an F30. 330th 2016 M IPerformance. Does the car always have 252 ps or 272 as standard? or 184ps. What driving mode do you use forever the same ps ... please info. I read when the electricity is empty “battery” Ps 184 is alone ?
Thank you
Very good review, want to buy one straight away :)
Good choice! We have lots of lovely 330e models on cinch :)
Sam where is your dad/ mum from. Bet it's Limerick or Kerry?
Very nice comfortable daily managed to get 2016 model for just under 10 grand absolute bargain with only 20k miles 😊
How is that possible? I was starting to look for one and I can’t get a decent one with less than 73.000 miles and £13.000
@@luciimrn8397 just happened to know someone who knew the owner who just let the car sit there for years. Got very lucky I guess
That is a fantastic deal !!
You are bloody lucky. I've only seen 16K for that spec
🧢
Could someone please tell me how you got 100+ MPG because I have owned a 330e for a year now a newer one than in this vid, the best I get is 42 MPG and that is charging every night and driving like miss Daisy,
The quoted MPG Must have been whilst being towed.!!!!
I would love you to tell me how to acheive your Claim.... Please prove it Cinch
Hi Gaz, it all depends on your journey time and speed. If you're moving through city traffic for the majority of your drive (as we had before we arrived in the countryside), the engine only wakes during higher speed moments. Hence the three-figure mpg. Sam did say earlier in the video that 30-40mpg is more likely during longer journeys though, so your experience is not unusual :)
It's never the reviewer or BMWs claim - it's the regulated standardised test used for comparison...
If you drive gently on journeys that maintain some charge i.e. 15-30 mile journeys - you'll get high double/triple digits - if you head straight to fast motorway/a/b-road and drive 40 mi plus - you won't... if you fully deplete the battery on a longer run you'll be 30-40 ish depending on your speed (comprable to a 320i/330i - in a cruise identical), accelerating lots - you're carrying extra weight, gently accel and deccel - like a hybrid (Toyota/Lexus) - you'll have some regen offset the accel and should do 10-20% better than a 320/330i
I'm driving about 30 to 35 miles every day. I plug my 330e in every night and wake up, repeat. It is more boring than it sounds and me thanks it could have an equivalent to solitary in prison. I bought the car a year ago and without ever missing a day yet I have put a total of 18.4 gallons of gasoline in the car. When I bought it off the lot it had a full tank. That's a 10 gallon tank and at the moment it has a full reading on the tank. So that's 30 gallons divided by 361 (almost a year) x 35. = MPG. Of course I'm headed to my shop now so goodluck with the math!
@@dandydondavid4093 So that's like 421mpg.... Which is why I'm buying one this week. I also have a 30 mile commute.
@@dandydondavid4093but how much is your electricity bill now? Must have gone up!
4series two doors?? Well well weeeellll
Thank you for your review! Very informative. Would appreciate it though if you would also discuss repair costs like changing the hybrid battery every +/- 6 years (which can easily cost around €4000).
Where's the evidence for that? Usual scare-mongering - why aren't you worried about an autogearbox, timing chain, turbo, high-pressure fuel pump. Toyota Hybrids do 200-300k miles on standard batteries... EVs/PHEVs it's more a case of losing some charge after a number of years - but it'll still work.
@@charlesfox8638 he is not claiming anything so why are you asking him for any evidence? He was just questioning
@@-Sam69 No no, he got a point...
@@charlesfox8638 The difference between a HEV and a PHEV is the HEV battery is managed by the car but the PHEV can have the shit charged out of it by the owner or run flat continously. A PHEV battery probably wont last any longer than a mobile phone or laptop battery.
Anyone know what the Mercedes equivalent is to the 330e
You'd be looking at the Mercedes C300e 👍
What year is this 330e??
2017
How reliable is it? Because German cars aren't known lately for reliability.
What you talking mate 💀
German cars are top
@@_daniel_6375 I am talking about the new ones, not the older generations. Yes, the older generations were proper tanks, but since the 2008 crisis, there have been cuts, and the reliability of the cars went down the toilet. They are nice and luxurious, but that's all, and they are not for the average Joe, that's for sure.
Appalling worst car purchase heavy issues ie steering rack recently replaced under 40 thousand miles
