This was such a clever and well written show for kids. It had its gross moments, but it wasn't wall to wall fart jokes, vomit, and people getting kicked in the balls. The plots were really interesting and quirky, and the humor came from good writing instead of cheap gimmicks. Kids need more shows like this one, Hey Arnold, Salute Your Shorts and Alex Mack. yea, this is a great example of 90s alternaculture; could never exist today. A lot of stars had to align but i think a big factor during this time was that most of what we saw was made from recently graduated college kids who were just given a camera, or a music studio or whatever. A high level of "quirk" resulted, an almost freewheeling nature to most of what came out during this time. Corporate committees rule the day now and even when they try, the "quirk" seems manufactured , like they are intentionally paying homage to this era.

Epic response. There was clearly a higher level of creativity back in those days. Glad I got to grow up with this. The metal plate, the tattoo, Artie... that kind of humor first showed up on 90's Nick. You could also find it in "adult" programming like Adult Swim Spaceghost. In some strange way, kinda reminds me of Tim and Eric.

they dont make anything like they used to. music, food, cars, clothes. its going down hill. theres barely any nutrients in the food, theres almost no soul in the music and everythings imported from China.

Seeing this again and experiencing the nostalgia is weird. It’s like a feeling in the body more than images/memories in the mind. When I see these shows now, it’s almost like I can “feel” the same thoughts, worries, and questions I had about the world from back then. But I can’t even remember what those really were. They’re just a faded feeling now.

I love that all of the '90s kids can commiserate here about how bittersweet it is to remember being a child. Seeing this video is one of the few things that reminds me of what it was like being a kid on Saturdays, making a bowl of popcorn, getting ready for SNICK. Oh, to be able to go back to that time for just a day. You never appreciate childhood until it's gone.

What kind of music do you like? The band who wrote & performed this song is called Miracle Legion, but they went under the name Polaris as an alter-ego for the show. They recorded a whole album for the show and they have several records of their own under the name Miracle Legion. Mark Mulcahy, the singer there in the video, is also quite an accomplished songwriter. If you look into him/them, you might find several other good musicians and bands surrounding them that you might like if you don't know them already.
