It's called italics, and they're hardcoded into the subtitles. Italics are used in Half-Life 2/Portal (Not Portal 2) when a voice is coming from a speaker. Since they're the same subtitles, the italics don't go anywhere.
How xome rhey are SOOOO similar? (How) Portal 2 and 1 are sooo different that the only the thing that could make this work... OoOH. Portal 2 Community Edition!
Wake-up animation low FPS, water splash in toiled isn't properly moderated, player-controlled portal doesn't work with orange auto-portal in tests 02-03, some sound and special effects from the first Portal are missing (said sound effects used are from the second Portal), you can't throw the item with LMB anymore, Unstationary Scaffords are messed-up, that one two-portal glitch (hard to describe with words, as seen in _Epic Edition_ Test 16), the flinging/momentum physics through portals are a bit wonky, the crouch-jump is missing(?), GLaDOS boss fight timer doesn't work anymore not helped by witty dialogue abruptly cutting out, and the ending cutscene is screwed-up... That's the best count I can spot, but it's worth it! The biggest flaws? Short length, slightly-outdated graphics (but the art style still never gets old), easy-to-execute puzzles (compared to much more mind-bending, later-released fan-made mods, like Mevious' _Portal Pro_ (2010) and _Stories: Mel_ (2015) for the second Portal), and the bossfight is too easy to execute, obviously. P.S. Wow, you are fast!
@npenplz Bizarre accusation, I don't pay for ChatGPT! I write like that, because that's how I feel it! Don't you want to accuse one of P2:CE staff members of using ChatGPT?! That accusation, in my opinion, would be for naught.
hii! a lot of work has been done to implement p1 backwards compatibility as long as you own p1 on steam, it’s possible to mount it onto P2:CE and play through the whole of portal 1 with P2:CE’s new additions :)
@Rip-Rip-Rip Hello, thanks for your answer. There is a question: do I just need to write this in the mounts.kv file and that’s it, or do I need something else? Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question or if I don't see something obvious. And it’s normal if in p2ce I don’t have most of the game models (Button, switch, metal box, door parts, respectively, they are not in the game and all the models are somehow poorly displayed - for example, the floor button is discolored, the box model is the usual one from portal 2, and the textures of some walls are overgrown).
currently at the moment in P2:CE, just mounting it inside the mounts.kv file isn’t enough. for this, i had to go into the gameinfo.txt and mount portal 1 above where it mounts portal 2. then, to fix the particles, i copied them over from portal 2 and placed them into P2:CE’s directory (since that’s still the primary directory, they’ll override portal 1’s broken ones). there might’ve been something else i did which i’m forgetting to mention now, but that’s the general idea :) hope that helps!!
Honestly I'd rather just boot up Portal 1. Even once they get some bugs fixed, im not understanding the advantage of having it playable in P2:CE. But if there's something obvious that I don't understand, explain the advantages to me please.
Now... imagine if the overgrown chambers from Portal 2 were more like Clean chambers
Idea gained!
the magic of ent_create_portal_weighted_cube
lol why's the wake uo animation 2 fps
I like how the text for GLaDOS is slanted a bit over, just like it is in portal 1

Seems like the Single Portal gun is a little bit broken.

You realize that it is still in very early closed beta, so it is going to have bugs
