- Most of us know the traditional way to treat a pulled/strained hamstring: RICE. Rest. Ice. Compress. Elevate. But there's another exercise you can do to not only help treat your strained hamstring but also to prevent hamstring strains! Even if you're not a runner, this exercise is great for everyone who spends time on their feet!

Thanks Dr Lin. I’ve been strained since a very very light legs day (return from summer lethargy) 2 days ago and cramped suddenly whilst driving (on cruise control). I’m quite grateful for having come across your video!
The part when I overcome flexing the quads whilst at a right angle is where I feel the difference.
So you think it happened at the gym and not because you were driving? Mine happened yesterday while driving 🚗 I thought the seat wasn't adjusted properly. This is the 2nd time this has happened in my life and both times I had heels on. 👠
I took sessions with a really good PT who advised me to improve glute strength and reduce overload on my hamstring. I’ve been dedicated since then to avoid this issue.
How often should I do this excercise for?

Great video, I don't have any weakness or shakiness, but I do have some tightness when I do this, thank you. How long would a good hold be to aim for say 30 seconds?

From my left back joint till knee my leg gets pain cant walk properly , since 3 weeks im crimpling, dr chcked with one vibrating instrument and i can hear sound from all parts of my body except left leg so he told me left side vein is frozen its jammed, so is this exercise useful for this pain, shall i start or any other exercise plzzz suggest me

Thank you for sharing. I believe you mean to “dig down” the back of my knee, stretching until the pain is relieved? I don’t experience shaking.

I been trying to heal from my hamstring I can’t run at my full speed because I feel like I’m going to pull my hamstring again. Any suggestions on what exercises to do ? I can run 80% of my capacity. Thanks.
Do exercises and stretch as much as possible and slowly work your way back until you can run with no pain also use compression bandage to help
Watched about a thousand videos then went to the physiotherapist but none of the exercises helped. This was the first tike i could feel my hamstring engaged. The physiotherapist sort of recommended the same workout except that was while sitting on a chair but didny work like it does when your lying down

What would a massage on a pulled hamstring feel like
I had a really severe Charlie horse today in my hamstring. It was really awful and lasted what felt like a few minutes. How can I fix that issue? Why would it happen? I have had really bad spasms in my calf but the hamstring is new and it scared me. It was so painful I couldn’t move

Havent played DDR in awhile and decided to play form beginner and then basic then one time I accidently pressed difficult and I had a hard time getting the arrows so I ended up having both my thighs in pain in the aftermath.
I pulled my left hamstring doing an oversplit and now I can't even do a normal split, I'm really sad 'cause I love gymnastic but I can't do some poses like front splits anymore🙁🙁

I pulled my hamstrings at my new job in the Warehouse. It’s not new anymore my hamstrings are still pulled. They’ve been pulled for 4 months now. I hope this helps

Did these for a couple days after not recovering for several weeks. Hammy is starting to feel better. Did these a couple times per day for about 5 minutes from straight leg building up to flexed knee.

It got me to a pretty good point but went to a physical therapist to get it nearly all the way back to full recovery which is where I am now. He had me do exercises that stretched the fibers as he explained that they did not mesh exactly right when they initially tried to heal. One exercise he had me do was stand on the injured leg and tilt forward with my chest, other leg up, arms out like forming a “t” if you looked above me. About 4 other exercises that I now regularly do.

I can run full speed now without feeling any pain. I have to do a deep squat to still feel it. The injury happened in August 2021. I started therapy mid Jan 2022. By mid March I was running full speed again without pain.
i don’t do sports but i do work in agriculture and i just woke up today with the back of my thighs aching 😪 it hurts every step i take. i can’t bend down straight or sit with my legs straight especially the left side. hopefully it heals quick

Hi! I've been stretching for a year and targeting the splits, especially my right one. Now, since a few months, my right harmstrings hurts more than the left one while stretching. I stopped stretching for 2 weeks, but I can't get rid of the pain. Can this exercice help?

Well, I'm unfortunately still struggling with this problem and it's really annoying😬 my harmstring doesn't hurt when I am not stretching, I only feel some pain when I am stretching, and I don't think it's how it's supposed to feel. Please feel free to share if you've tested anything that's worked🤍🤍
@@abih4090 hey Hiba, same here. I pulled it flexing in my right split. I’m in week 2 of on and off light stretches. I’ve been trying light hamstring strengthening workouts to help rebuild, but it doesn’t feel the same. I guess this requires more patience than I actually have 😭

I know this video is like 2 years old. But will this exercise help with to tingling sensation on my hamstring also? It only happens when I do certain movement or stretches.
Numbness/tingling is often a sign of a nerve component. It's best to get formally evaluated by a physical therapist to rule out things like sciatica before starting an exercise routine!

In regards to the image at the 1:16 mark , what’s the muscle next to the hamstring called ; it’s the white muscle in this diagram. Runs parallel to the hamstring. Located on the inside of the thigh..

This exercise reproduces my pain of my hamstring tear. Do I do it anyway? I did is several times and the next day I was super soar. Do I continue to perform it? I can't run and it's KILLING ME!! Please HELP!
Don't do it further until you can do th first set pain free. It sucks not to run but making it worse is not the answer. Trust me don't follow my mistake

I heard and felt a pop in the back of my hamstring. How severe can that be? I can still stand out my full weight on that one leg but I cant walk properly without. Should I get it checked or I should just RICE it for now? Rather not go into a doctor right now because of covid lockdown.

I waited 2 weeks before I started running again in the second week I was doing agility and strengthening exercises felt good , I went to play soccer and I felt the pull again in so mad and disappointed
Might be time to get a formal evaluation to make sure everything is ok. Hope you're feeling better soon!

No surgery, whenever I go running I use a compression band and I warm up well and stretch. I try not to go full pace because It might happen again
How bad was the pain the first few weeks? I tore mine about 9 days ago and can’t even stand on it because the pain is excruciating.
@@tracy9397 I’ve had the same thing. I after 8 months I could do everything again/run at full speed. Still using a compression band around it. It is highly recommended by me if you want to slowly start working out again.
