    I used to frame up here in the PNW for a couple years. Watching your content makes me miss it and want to swing the hammer again. Sadly, being the main ‘cut’ guy doing a lot of rough sawn beams is what ultimately did me in. We never did do a lot of slab on grade, it was most build-outs with pony walls or basements going up 2 stories. Always checked me out walking the outers for trusses especially in the winter. My folks live on the Central Coast and funny enough going to be moving back soon. Keep up the great content!!! 😊

    Curious why you added the 6x6s now rather than frame them with the wall? Just to make the wall lighter to lift up?

      @@chiefchris9923 Yeah Chief I'm well aware of WHY there are 6x's but most framers will put them up with the rest of the wall, not add them in after raising the wall.

    I'm watching videos for tips as I plan a build. I have learned a few from your videos, thank you.
    I have a question, please: it looks like you're using a 21 degree framing nailer. Is there a reason you're using 21 degrees instead of 30 degrees?

    What is your height from bottom of bottom plate to top of double top plate? Does sheathing cover this entirely or is there a gap at the top and overlap of sheathing onto foundation at the bottom? Just curious how exactly the sheathing lays out height wise.

  • @rogerhodges7656
    @rogerhodges7656 Месяц назад

    Writing as a former production builder, when you are plumb bracing before sheathing, you drive far too many nails. If you are putting the sheathing up immediately, you need just enough nails to hold the wall until the sheathing is installed. Usually that would be two in each end and one in the middle. Every nail you drive has to be pulled and that takes time and costs money. If you are not responsible for the sheathing or there will be an unknown delay before the sheathing will be installed you might want more nails that I listed. You are using enough nails to brace for multistory construction without sheathing.

      If we leave things overnight, which we do, I worry about things blowing over.
      I’d rather overdo it, I get its money wasted, but it won’t ever move.

    Question. We at home built a 20 x 30 tiny home. It sat for about four months framed. This sat threw crazy Texas rains and other elements. We put up truses and what we've realized it's the structure moves / sways plenty. Help 😲😭
