You can see the mental illness in his eyes. They didn't do the mentally ill any favors by deregulating the psychiatric hospitals. Most mentally ill won't harm anyone but you don't know who is dangerous and who is not. They can't be forced into treatment or even forced to take their meds until they kill someone. I used to live in the San Francisco area (Bay Area) and rode BART (the subway) daily to commute to work.
A young black man ran up to another young black man standing on the edge of the platform (no barriers on BART) and shoved him hard as a train was oncoming. I happened to be standing next to the victim, grabbed him by the hood on his hoodie, and yanked him back, or else he'd have tumbled onto the tracks. The attacker had already fled by then.
We need barriers on the subways to prevent accidental falls but also attacks like this one and the one I just described. I'm very surprised this isn't a lot more common. I never stood close to the platform edge and always stood at an angle so I could surveil my surroundings; if someone came up behind me and pushed me, no harm would be done. I also stayed off my cellphone so I could be aware of my surroundings, which is what everyone should be doing.

Unfortunately these type of people get to do harm and the saddest thing is some of these mental ill people no how to manipulate the justice system and play crazy and get away with their crimes, They will go sit either in jail or hospital after doing a crime or attempting to take someone life and it's alright with the justice system.. The system needs'to start holding these people accountable for their crimes or either reopen back up these mentally ill facilitate for the mentally insane and lock them away for extremely long time.

We need to start getting tough on crime, send a message by putting criminals away for a long time. We also need to start helping the Mentally Ill New York’s, we need to provide better mental health services, instead of taking in all these migrants. We need to address the matters that impact our citizens, FIRST!

There was not a single cop on that station, especially because it’s in the Bronx and they don’t give it any importance. It’s disgusting to see this criminal taking premeditated steps to ensure he accomplished his mission of pushing this man to the tracks and causing his death. There are more criminals in the streets of NYC than there are cops. Many cops have quit because of how dangerous our city is becoming each passing year, and the same is going on in other states as well, this is not a NYC only problem. If this criminal is not arrested and detained he will surely do it again soon and maybe the next victim will not make it out alive. I hope they catch him and put him away on attempted murder charges.

🗣️ People please, please, PLEASE pay attention!!! PLEASE take off the ear phones and stay off of your phone while or the train, at the bus stop, walking home, etc. It looks like this gentleman was texting or reading something on his phone....I could be wrong but even if I am, I see it all the time. People are not paying attention at all on the train. They sit down, get on their phones and never raise their head until it's time to get off. 🗣️The train station is not your home! Not while you're standing on the platform and not when you get your seat once you get on the train, should you let your guard down. You should always be on guard, paying attention to your surroundings!! The victim was very engrossed in something to not to have even seen the man launch at him from his peripheral vision. After he gave no indication whatsoever that he was paying ANY ATTENTION AT ALL when the man launched at him, the man then took his opportunity. I would have moved far away from that man once I saw him pacing back and forth as he was but you have to be looking around and paying attention to notice.Sit on the train where you can see everything, don't sit where someone can sit behind you and stand away from the tracks as you wait. Wait until it comes to a complete stop to start moving towards it but even when it comes to a complete stop, don't go near the tracks, head for the opening doors. Yeah, yeah, someone will say, we all say what we would and wouldn't do......say what you will. 🤷
🗣️Your head should not be down on the train or the platform, your ears should be clear so that you can ear and you should not be engrossed in text messaging or a phone call. It's just not that important. That's the bottom line. 🥺🥺
