Wow, what an incredible turn of events! With Morne Steyn returning to the Springbok Squad to secure victory again twelve years after this epic moment!!! I honestly believed him to be retired from test rugby! Congratulations for the series win, from an Argentinean SA rugby fan!
Let’s go Bokke!! What a match this was. Here’s to a repeat series win in 2021! This team will forever be etched into the memories of us Bok supporters. 🇿🇦❤️🔥
Everyone talks about how Schalk should have been red-carded for the eye gouge (and they have a point) but conveniently overlook diving into the head of a player long after the try was scored, the assault on Danie Rossouw and the dangerous tackle in the air by O'Gara. Only two players were cited after this game, Schalk Burger and Bakkies Botha. Bakkies was cited and suspended for a perfectly legitimate clean out on Adams (?).
Yeah man, it's incredible seeing just how much has changed within the rules and regulations over the past several years. Nowadays, that would be a red and automatic 3-week ban at the least 🤣
@@ryanbonner25Sir someone had gotten a.yellow for.trying to pull someone's eyes out, but they need to chill with the punishments? I'm scared of you. Lol
Heaslip. Today we would have seen red cards for both him and O'Driscoll for that high hit on Rossouw. I will be the first to agree that Schalk also would have been red carded and probably should have been, but I find the Lions' fans tend to overlook the infringements from their own side.
The craziest thing about this match, Fourie and Steyn were starting on the bench. Two world class players that PDV left on the bench for most of the game
@@thegulagarchipelago5921 he played in 2 world cups, Springboks didn't win 2011 & 2015. I'm saying it's a shame that the time he played the team didn't win a World Cup.
The Boks spent the entire match catching up from the initial 10 point deficit GIFTED by Schalk. It was not a yellow card because of pressure from the Lions. Quite the opposite; the Boks had a penalty due to their superior rolling maul. Boks clearly the better team on the day when you take the gifting into account. This is the point the UK press failed to address. It was a gift. The Lions team would have been quite happy if the Boks had committed further unforced foul play.
No I don't think so, because he landed relatively safely. But the late hit by Heaslip on Habana when he scored and the high hit by O'Driscoll on Rossouw (not shown here) certainly would have.
Having looked at it again, all of the Lions players were offside. He therefore should have put it deep into the South Africa 22 as there was still 30 seconds to go.
@@MrLebowski1980 yes, but it would take a brave fullback to launch a counterattack in the 79th minute. When players are under pressure you often will see sliced clearances into touch. All hypothetical though.
That's right - during this era PDV decided to move him to tighthead when Bismarck's inclusion as starting hooker could no longer be avoided as he was too damn good. It didn't always work out that well as Smitty sometimes gave away a few scrum penalties, but I feel his value as a captain was FAR more important than his skill as a prop....which wasn't bad at all.
It was accidental and not intentional ... todays game yes a red card... 2021 this game would have had 10 red cards with all the late, high hits ... u can agree to disagree ...
There was no TMO protocol back then so we had to rely on what the linesman saw. Since the linesman was Bryce Lawrence, it's a fucking miracle he saw anything at all. Definitely, under today's protocols, it would have been a red. But then O'Driscoll ("tackle" on Danie Rossouw) , O'Gara (taking man out in the air) and probably Heaslip (diving on Habana after a try was scored, hitting him in the head with his forearm / elbow) would have seen a red as well.

A repeat indeed and amazingly Steyn with the winning points again!
Do we have knighthoods in South Africa? Give Steyn two, one for each Lions tour he's clinched.
Thanks Ronan O'Gara we thought of owing you one but decided against it. Thanks anyhow. From South Africa.
Morné Steyn did it again 12 years later.
What a day what a match, Jacque Fourie just brilliant....

Best game in recent times! Had everything: biff, controversy, Red army, right up to the last few seconds. Movie script material
how their number 8 tackled Habana 3 seconds later, with a shoulder charge, and got away with it shows how the rules have changed since

Here in 2022 and that Jaque Fourie finish is out of this world.
ROG came on, got bumped off Fourie, and then tackles a man in the air. Nightmare.
He got steam rolled by Spies about 2min before Fourie bumped him off too
This tour in 2021 will not be the same with no spectators 🤕
Very sad
Absolutely not, hoping they atleast allow a few thousands in, imagining a springbok lions test played in empty stadium is just sad.
we still won the tour because we are strong bokks
Because of crap heads ruling the world
Spies was an absolute unit
In this lesson today we learn the definition of a clutch and what it looks like
True that. Morne Steyn = legend.

He came back to haunt the Lions 12 years later. He’s still got it after all that time.
I hope we do it to them again.....Bokke!
I see why Steyn was chosen in the squad
To this day, that is the fastest yellow I've seen in an international 😁
It was plain stupidity 🤣
The craziest thing about this match, Fourie and Steyn were starting on the bench. Two world class players that PDV left on the bench for most of the game
We had a scrumhalf at flyhalf and a hooker at tight head too
An even crazier fact is the boks won the series without a coach
Do you think this is where Rassie got inspiration for the BOMBSQUAD from? Players used to maintain dominance or even increase it🤔😅
