    It’s honestly not too surprising to me that mark switched to Gibson. He’s said for a long time that he loves vintage instruments and his dominions were homage to those. He’s also talked highly of Gibsons and fenders for a while so the switch isn’t too crazy

    I just want Fender to really just lean in and start expanding the fender metal brand more than just the JR sigs. Like a MIM production version of Chris Garza’s Masterbuilt 7 string would be amazing. Jackson and Charvel are cool but Having fender offer more metal options would be amazing.

      Agreed. The JR jazzmaster is cool, but I can't stand the neck and 70's headstock.
      I'd love to see the black one with an ebony fretboard and a neck/headstock matching the body.

    • @LouSassles
      @LouSassles Год назад +1

      They just gotta keep making the flathead series or make it in bigger numbers. Those are so simple yet so effective. Ideally fender never really was a metal brand. Yes JR is the metal line of Fender (and I think that’s why fender wanted to make signatures with him) are unique. But fender is more traditional. FMIC own Charvel and Jackson and want to use them as their metal brands (which I also understand). You also have to remember, most other brands who have traditional guitars and metal guitars also don’t own 2 other brands they can have solely dedicated to specific markets. That’s something I can get behind. But yeah it would be cool if fender could make some 7’s and extended range guitars

    My thoughts on Jackson are that they are my new go-to company for upgrade candidates. I bought my first Jackson in order to use a Wilkinson vibrato bridge that I wanted to put into play. I got the Jackson JS22 Dinky because it was easy to install the bridge on. It's not a perfect match as the pickup pole pieces don't line up with the strings, but it doesn't change the sound, so I live with it (painlessly). I'm planning the acquisition of another JS22 Dinky and a JS32 Dinky with a Floyd Rose vibrato. I'm considering P-94s (P-90s in humbucker-sized casings) for the JS22 and a set of the same pickups I have in my current JS22 Dinky for use in the JS32. I'm also golding it out -- you know, black hardware replaced with gold hardware. That way, I can have a (somewhat) Strat-style guitar with the P-90 sound if not the look and another guitar with high-output ALNICO 2 humbuckers and gold hardware, BOTH with Jackson's Speed Necks and conical (compound) radius fretboards! This will all take much time as I'm starting a new job and it'll be a while before I get to some full paychecks, but that's the big holdback.
    As for the artist stuff, in truth I have no idea what guitars are like at the high end. You are right, though, that the old guard guitar companies need to attract more contemporary artists to their stables in order to stay relevant to contemporary listeners.

  • @Graveyard_Productions

    Honestly I feel like it would be nice if Gibson split to two „brands” (something like Gibson Original and Gibson Modern) where original would make guitars like back in the day and modern would experiment with baritones, 7 strings, multiscales etc. Just imagine a baritone Thunderbird with evertune bridge, staneless steel fanned frets, fishmans and built in MIDI pickup…

    • @MaestroJericho
      @MaestroJericho 2 года назад +3

      yeah they can justify all the traditional specs on the Original line and have the Modern line (maybe with he Gibson logo having a different color like chrome) having the comfort cuts and weight reliefs. Could never see them with SS frets or fanned frets though.

    • @benjipc5637

      imo MT-15 still best in class for metal. The EVH lunchbox doesn't have the punch and the Fortin Sigil is hard to find and costs more. MT-15 is built like a tank too and has outstanding cleans. MT-15 + overdrive pedal into a 2x12 is the best for lower volume metal imo.

    If Gibson cared about creating something new & unique they'd switch to an option 24 3/4" & 25 1/4 " scale, a choice of Fishman, Gibson PAF, or EMGs, 6 in line tuners/ 3 x 3 tuners/ or 4 X 2 tuners, locking tuners or traditional tuners

    • @Andrew_182

      Some of those make sense, like adding more pickup options and locking tuners and even stainless frets on a modern line. But offering optional scale lengths and headstock/tuner layouts isn’t realistic. Going that far would turn them into something like Kiesel with their semi custom builds, and that’s just not really do able at the scale Gibson (nor any other major manufacturer really) operates at.

He also was using Quad Cortex and I think Kemper but now uses Revv cabs and the EVH Stealth. He is evolving for sure. His style of playing definitely needs an evertune for those crazy low tunings and bending style of playing.

I’ve always loved enjoying craft beers with friends and family, but my blood sugar spikes so much, I’ve been told that my body is acting like I’m diabetic…without officially receiving the diagnosis from my Dr.
    It’s so bad, I don’t really drink at all anymore. I replace any and all alcohol with a VERY mild dose cannabis, and while I enjoy still being able to partake in some kind of “cheer” when hanging out with friends, I think some of my friends still find that slightly off putting. Completely agree... get out of your own way Gibson, and create a line of more modern guitars. Keep all of the awesome traditional stuff in the Original series and CS, and jump in with a modern line. It doesn't even have to be wild changes, I would love to see a neck-thru LP or V with modern pickups. Give the LP a deep heel and ebony fingerboard and knock 5mm off the thickness while you are at it. Your own sub-brand is killing it with modern flavored guitars (.. and then crippling them with weird decisions like, I dunno, a D shaped thin neck).

      Appreciate that, man! I'd have to think about that, but off the top of my head, it'd have an Eastman-style varnish finish, Hipshot open gear locking tuners and Tone-A-Matic bridge, custom-voiced bar magnet/pole piece Fishman Fluence set with voices based on Will Adler Active/Bare Knuckle Polymath, Evertune, and a Piezo.

      @@agufish I'm with you on the Will Adler voice. I'd love voice 2 for me to be something similar to a Duncan pearly gates set in both positions. Then Will's voicing for the main one. I'd still have the guitar the satin blue color. Same tuners as you.

    I've been really thinking about upgrading my E-II eclipse with Fishman's, just because I love that guitar and I want it to be more versatile. I would've loved to put Willie Adlers in there but it would totally ruin the red/black vibe going on...

    Yeah Gibson should *definitely* do a modern sig. However, it should be an Agufish sig Epiphone. Seriously.

    It would be interesting to see Fluff get a signature Gibson when his Ernie Ball deal is up. I’d also like to see Gibson do more than just rock and metal and do more with the acoustic stuff. If Gibson doesn’t want to go with a modern product line I think they will be fine. They are a founding brand and have enough people who want those “old time” instruments so who cares? If they really want to turn heads and make people take notice I think they could always start working with pop punk acts like August Is Falling and get them rocking out on LP Jr models.

      I feel like his Balaguer sigs were much cooler than EBMM. Can't beat having a bigger company backing you though including strings and cables.

      @@MaestroJericho I think that was the deal. He needed a brand that could get him support gear in other parts of the world.

    In my opinion this is not a signature guitar at all, it’s an another variation of a signature of Les Paul himself. Mike had at least somewhat of a personality put into his Jackson.

    Can Gibson once and for all address the string angle/tuning issue? Modern players don’t want to deal with tuning BS. Just buy out String Butler and include them on modern LP’s.

  • @patfix

    Gibson got punished for trying to innovate so they’ll be very careful to do that - under the Gibson flag at least. Of course their ‘innovations’ were sheit which is why it would be cool if they start to try some more (better) stuff now the ‘classics’ are in check.

    Being as Gibson owns Mesa Boogie he may as well join Gibson/Epiphone and just be all in house on guitars and amps he needs..
