How To : Fix Your Honda Automatic Power Window Switch

  • This is a very quick how-to video showing you an easy way to fix your "automatic up/down" function on your driver's side power window in a Honda vehicle.
If you changed your battery or lost power somehow to the switch, the memory needs to be reset. The switch is NOT bad, just follow this simple process to fix it yourself & save money!
It may work for other makes/models.....and it may not work for all Honda models.

Upgraded my door speakers today and thought I knicked a wire somewhere with the drill. Guess I had the switch unplugged too long. Can't believe Honda used a system like this. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this!

I disconnected my battery a few days ago to try out a pocket jump starter that I bought, then I noticed a problem with the door window switch. Thanks for saving me the trouble of removing the window switch! You can learn a lot on RUclips.

This also worked on my 2013 Accord EX-L passenger side window. It would not go down from the drivers side and only manually from the passenger switch. I performed this procedure with the ignition button in run mode on the passenger side and it fixed the problem. Thanks!

Wow, I thought I was going to have to take the door apart and replace the whole control module! My main control’s passenger window switch wasn’t working (even tho did work on passenger side control) and all I had to do was do this procedure on the passenger door switch and it reset the main control!!! Literally took me 5 seconds.

I like the way you present your tip on how to fix the problem, quick, simple and easy to understand. Some auto mechanics won't give nor share that kind of solution but they will give their customers so many other huge and complicated problems to make money. Thanks to the honest, willing citizens like you who are willing to share their expertise and knowledge, and know-how on certain fields, we are really getting so much from you and it helps me, big time! Thanks again.

This worked for even a slightly different problem: I couldn't operate my passenger window from my driver side controls. Passenger controls still worked but driver side controls operated the other three windows but not the passenger one. Then I noticed that from passenger controls the automatic function wasn't working either - regular up and down were fine - so I reset the automatic function from the passenger side just like described in this video and magically my driver's side control of the passenger window came back to life. Saved me $500!! Thanks! HONDA PILOT 2016

Thank you so much for taking time to show us how to do this. I called the dealership and asked if the battery had anything to do with it (which I just replaced). They said it shouldn't and to bring it in for diagnostic testing. Wow, how stupid I would have been. You just saved me a bunch of money and wasted time. Thanks a million. You are appreciated very much!!!!!

You are fixing a problem that I wish I had on my 2010. I don't like that extra click in the switch that fully raises or lowers the window. I want the window to only move when I have my finger on the button. Changing my battery did nothing. So I guess my 2010 works different. I figure I will need to take the door apart to get to the switch and remove the wire that triggers the automatic full up/down.

DUDE!! You are a life saver. MY '01 Accord was having this problem. I changed the regulator and the auto down function no longer worked. I was thinking "Oh what NEXT!?" Although I don't have the auto up function, we do have the auto down. But I did both as per your great video. I was thinking I had to chase relays and ring out the wiring. Now I DON'T. Thank you so much.
I DO have another question. My main cabin light stays on until I shut it off manually. Both leads into it are hot and I know one should be not as long as the doors are closed. But even with all doors closed, it stays hot. Now that being said, I did change all the courtesy lights to LED but I don't see how that should matter. Or does it? Can you help here?
