I was 5 when my parents and I flew to Sydney from then Idlewild on October 14, 1960 and on the return on Jan 5, 1963 on QANTAS 707s both ways. Then on Pan American from LA to Sydney and back on Feb 3, 1963 and May 30, 1963 (now 60 years ago) respectively, also both on 707s. Amazing that I still have my old passports stamped by immigration in Australia and the US. I was too young to enjoy the free champagne my parents were served on those flights that they bragged about. I was aboard many Boeing 707s in the sixties and seventies and one last one on Tarom from Amsterdam to JFK in 1981. Thank you for bring back the memories.

The first time I flew a jetliner was on Pan Am from San Juan to New York's Kennedy Airport. A Boeing 707. I was ten years old. Today, I'm 65 and I still remember the experience like it was yesterday. Pan American was a great airline. I was really sad when it went out of business. Truly the end of a great Era in commercial aviation.
