    Distance: 85km
    Ascent: 886m
    Descent: 1282m
    End of day elevation: 1860m
    Weather; Sunny, 24°C
It was another cool morning...not as cold as the previous one.
Given how deep we seemed to be in that canyon, I was surprised at how early I saw the sun's rays on the campground. The rocky, sandy ride up and out of the canyon started as soon as I left camp...and the ride across the subsequent plateau provided stunning views into the valleys on both sides, before dropping down to paved Hwy 35...and the pavement was my riding surface all the way to Silver City.
I was hoping that Lake Roberts would provide a second breakfast...but it was not to be, as the only place that was open (again, probably due to being off season) was a motel C-store....so my second breakfast consisted of a bottle of Coke and a couple of chocolate bars...
Shortly after Lake Roberts, I began to climb again...and the higher I climbed, the nicer the views were to the east. The following 25km's was somewhat of a roller coaster until around the 70km point, when the final, glorious descent into Silver City began.
On the way into Silver City, I contacted the Silver City RV park in hopes to get a campsite...however they were completely booked...so I continued into the downtown.
I stopped at The Bikeworks bike shop to have my bike checked out...and the fellows took the time out of their busy work schedule to clean up my drivetrain for the final portion of the GDMBR.
Via the ACA app, I contacted a few of the hotels in the city centre...and was able to get a room at the Murray Hotel. After settling in and getting cleaned up, I went into town for a look around and a bite to eat.
It was yet another awesome day on the GDMBR!!

Great video. The sky looked so blue. We spent a zero day in Silver City. Glad we did!

Thanks! For sure, it was a great place to visit, and I think it was the perfect time of year...wall to wall sunshine and moderate temps...I wanna go back!

Small world, when I rode the ACA southern tier route I stayed at the Murray in Silver City. Really neat old school art deco 1950's style lobby. The rooms were small but nice and clean. Got a hair cut on Main St, and there's a nice brew pub around the corner from the Murray. Great memories, thanks! Man, that's a climb going up out of Silver City heading eastbound.

Coincidence for sure! That hotel was pretty cool! Ya, that brew pub on the corner was handy and had great food and beer! Glad the video brought back such good memories for you! Cheers!

For sure...classic Art Deco! Given the modern room designs, and just how clean everything was, I'm sure that hotel underwent a major refit in recent years...

Silver City is such a great place to hang out! When I was there, I wanted to camp, but the campground was booked solid...by a supported ACA group!

I am riding with you every morning.
    Don’t want it to end.
What do you have planned for your next trip?

Awesome! I don't want it to end either... :-)
Next ride should be in May...hope to do a wrap-up video after this is done, and I'll chat about the details of the next ride then...and I'll take what I've learned from this (my first) series and apply to the next ride, which I also plan to record!

The Gila NF is a beautiful area. Which navigation app were you using?

    • @reinhartbigl367
      @reinhartbigl367  4 месяца назад +1

Agreed! Gila NF was magical...I'd love to go back and spend more time there! I used the ACA's Bicycle Route Navigator and their maps on my iPhone...there could have been more POI's, but it worked flawlessly!

What app did you use to track your route ?

I used the ACA app for nav, and Cyclemeter to track and record stats for the route.
