think a lot of people in hardcore and metal had Underoath as a gateway. i ironically heard The Almost first and then learned that Aaron played in Underoath lmao
@@taylorxbrowning that’s awesome lol….one of my boys left “they’re only chasing safety” in my CD player that we used in the locker room before hockey games….so then I bought it haha…perfect timing for me got me into extreme vocals and then they got back to a heavier sound which led me down a path that led me to hardcore and metalcore then melodic death metal and black metal and eventually to more chaotic and grind death metal too….but I still love to throw on that older stuff and feel like a kid again lol
I love Spencer and Aaron being open. It’s sad to see people leave a belief system not Because of the belief itself but because of the bad juju and pressure surrounding them. Underøath started when Aaron was 14 so you can imagine there were a lot of adults in their corner “spurring them on” in the faith. Which isn’t always a bad thing, but they were young and they’re just figuring it out. You just can’t put the same expectations on a band of kids like underøath as you can a band like third day or casting crowns. Like get real people. I imagine that pressure probably ruined them. Super great guys! Always sending love and respect!
christians have an excuse and way out of every instance of accountability. it’s so obnoxious. also the “christian music” scene is just a cash grab and it’s sad if people can’t see it for that. all those christian bands be laughing their way to the bank.
Good work brining up the OG metalcore shows. This Runs Through was Spencer’s metalcore band before he joined underoath. Modern metalcore nerds should jock that more.
Spencer sounds so bitter when he said “We are not a Christian Band anymore” I am like yeah right everyone knows! No need to tell that in all your interview 😂
you're not listening to anything meaningful he's saying, you're just picking the superficial headline. Give him another chance and listen to him again man...
2011 Aaron played at my church and had such a spiritual soul and it’s so sad to see the way he is now. He was so God loving and preaches Gods word. Now he seems like an atheist.
@@Drownmeout344 Spencer loves hearing his own voice and provides little to no substance towards this interview. Colin is trying to talk about early Underoath and tours they did then with Aaron. Spencer half the time is just ranting or constantly reminding us that they aren't a fully Christian identifying band anymore (who gives a shit, Aaron knew exactly what Colin was asking about).
@@roberttreanor7252 You kinda need to remember that Colin fucking hates christians. Spencer opening up like that had to do with that. Also, i think they just made the interview longer because of this, it'd stop at 8m otherwise.
They dont get it.. You are free in Christ and overcome death. If they never got that then I dont think they were real Christians to begin with. Once you know you'd never turn away from the truth. Its not about being perfect, its about overcoming death
I don't listen to them after they left Christianity. Not because they're not Christian anymore but the way they went about it. They pretty much said fuk are fans and now were no longer Christian than what annoyed me about them.
They still don’t understand that being a christian is not about rules and being perfect or even trying to be perfect.. 🤦♂️ they just had really bad experiences with people and with each other. Nothing to do with being a follower of Jesus. 🫤
This is the case with so many former Christian bands and it’s so sad. They fall away because of people…People who are Christians are humans to…they make mistakes. But if a Christian husband sleeps with a woman who isn’t his wife..does Christ condone that? No! So do you not follow Jesus because you saw someone who says he’s a Christian do something awful? They are walking away from Jesus…and it’s just sad :(
oh please. christians are so dramatic. 1600 years of human history showing what christians do to people that don’t “think like christians or do what christians want”
Not letting Bo meet underoath is one of the craziest punishments for sending fucked up audio
Colin is one of the best in the game at the moment and Underoath are certified legends great pairing!
Underoath was my gateway to heavy music
i think it was for a ton of people, hearing Writing on the Wall when i was 11 changed my life forever lol
Dude same
Define The Great Line is still one of my favorite albums of all time
Colin is a great interviewer. Him and Bo on Hardlore are great together and it's always a fun listen.
Underoath was my gateway…amazing band

Me too.
UO was a huge influence on me when leaving religion. So happy to hear them talk about this change in their lives.
Those guys seem like some cool down to earth people. Very chill. Yeah they'd be good to have on the podcast.

God’s Hate and God’s Love
I see what you did there

I wasn’t a fan of the latest album until early 2023’…. After listening to it many times, might be my favorite.
Colin shouting out Vinnie Paz!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Did Bo send you this audio???
This was mean I feel bad

@BrandonChaunceyOfficial its like a bad break up because he misses the money Christians gave them.

lmao
that’s what happens when you wake up
It's the "I made thousands off Christians but fuck you now" band lol
Google it 😂
I really wish this was just Colin and Aaron.
Why?
