I get to do a lot of these type of repairs for tradesmen using power tools. The power cord gets broken internally due to flexing of the cord and then the tool is powered intermittently - very frustrating.
Some of these basic repairs are our bread and butter.
Thanks for sharing your repair. Some of those wires are very fine. Good idea using hot glue as insulation.

Can't beat a basic power tool but cordless units are quickly becoming the norm given the power you can get out of batteries now which presents it's own range of more technical faults with brushless DC motor controllers etc. Not to mention the ability to digitally lock tools so if they're stolen they can't be used... good luck getting the official info on how to put them into service mode to repair them after warranty.

@@JonnyFix Yup, too true. Cordless used to mean 5 minutes of run time with only enough torque to peel the skin off a banana, but now they have 'more power' & run for days! As you said, the circuitry inside would put NASA to shame. Getting wiring diagrams etc is a nightmare. But apart from that - easy peasy! 😁

Yep dogs/cats they all like chewing cables, not so good when it's a mains cable :-(
    Great headphones recovered :-D
Those seem pretty much the same as the old ones from millions of years ago, but they had metal speakers and volume/tone sliders, the controls were actually usefull for some odd devices.
My mate has a gaming headset and i was fed up with repairing the cable, he would trip over the cable because he was a pillock!!.
Those coloured woven cables i hate, some are rather vaigue in colour and my eyesight is going down the pan, the spot on depth perception i had a few years back is crap now.
Missing the wire with the soldering iron is laugh, but i don't do much soldering so meh lol.
Finally he bought a set where the cable plugs into the headset, easy to replace the cable but the connector really needed to be magnetic like the apple laptop.
He has used wireless headphones, but he somehow managed to stop them working lol.
He could break water, he is one of those people lol.

I fixed a Scarlett hp60 mkii (second generation) headset because it was not heard from the right, the problem was a part of the cable, I cut it and soldered again. But later when listening in a video game the surround sound was lost.
I don't know what the problem is if the welding has to do or what it was.
    Any suggestions?

    • @JonnyFix

Yeah I'd double check your soldering to make sure no wire is touching another where it shouldn't etc. New faults are likely related to your work.

@@JonnyFixi mistakenly walked out my room when headphone is connected to audio interface. that got my cable is stretched. it worked with both sides with loose connection near the ear piece. now it works only one side. does your fix resolve my issue?

    • @JonnyFix
      @JonnyFix  2 года назад

@@kirimile2244 Quite likely the cable has broken where it enters the housing so cutting that section off and feeding the remainder back in like this should resolve it.

@@kirimile2244 Oh it could also be broken where it enters the plug..... so if you notice a change when you wiggle that end then you will need a new plug.

You could use tape or heat shrink or anything, it's just to stop the bare wire from touching other wires or metal parts.
