for all of you guys who has the "kp3 not found" problem... just uninstall all drivers and start over with the last version of Korg's drivers... uninstall (reboot), then connect the kaoss pad for windows installation, and then install the drivers from korg.....then open kp3 editor, "external ctrol" tab and hit receive...it should work... it worked for me and i had this problem for months hope you get it right
Thanks for your video, I have been trying to figure out why the editor was not recognizing the pad for the last three days and watching just a couple of seconds of your video helped me figure out the problem :) - Pad is connected to my computer via USB - Preferences Midi In: KP3 - PAD Midi Out: KP3 - SOUND - Basically my problem was on the Kaoss Pad, the MIDI FILTER options Program 9, CC, note, and SYS.E were disabled. Enabled all options and the KP3 Editor read my pad.
I am using,WinXP, I followed 1st and 2nd part of your video, and everything is configured ok. I installed drivers and software that comes on original KP3 disc, also i tried the other ones from their site! I had the same issue the first time i had kp3, this is the second one i just bought, and i can remember that i needed to do things in right order (for xmpl, firstly plug the usb cable, than turn on kp, than USB mode on, than KP3 Editor) but now i can't remember that order, it was 3 years ago!
Hey Jeff, great video and thank you for posting this because both Korg manuals do a poor job of explaining how this all works. One question I had that I hope you can answer is this... What does the P.001 on the KP3 program screen stand for and how do you utilize it? The main problem I'm having when using the KP3 as a midi controller is that I have all these mappings assigned for a particular track, but I'd like to be able to switch to another program within the KP3 that has different midi mapping for different tracks. I hope that makes sense.
i Jeff! Can I use the kaoss pad to control the synth from the pc? Specifically playing with the pad, respecting the scales and arpeggiators of the Kaoss pad
When pad touch is enabled do you know if the button behavior operates as momentary (on while you're pressing, off while you're not pressing) or toggle (on when you touch it once, off when you touch it a second time)? Thanks for any info.
also if you plug it in in different usb ports each time, it will create a fuss in the pc / sometimes you need to delete the device from device manager and re-install it
hey, can the KP3 be used as a controller for ROLAND JP-8080 or any rackmount/ desktop synth without the use of a computer? or at lease used once at home and stored to a card or something so i don't have to have a computer while performing live concert? thanks
Hi Jeff. Great tutorial. I've had the "Kp3 not found" problem since last year when I bought my Kp3. I was using vista and gave up trying to solve the problem. I now have a brand new system running on windows 7 64bit and I am still having this problem. You mentioned that the drivers windows auto installs do not work so my question is, how do i disable it so I can install the KORG drivers. I havent been able to figure this out and windows auto installs it the moment I plug it in.
@Jeff Richtman I need a little help which is , I've got (KP3 , AkaiApc40 , Scarlet 2i4 sound card) do you know the connections to put them all together with using the kp3 only as an audio effect ? what I do is (mic > kp3 mic input > kp3 output > sound card > pc) but in this case i lost the sound card quality !
@MillerkyAir I struggled to make the "kp3 is not found" msg go away for the last 4 hours. I tried reinstalling the drivers, the device, the kp3 editor, updating the kp3, enabling everything, resetting the kp3 to factory settings. After none of that worked, i found out that the usb port i was using isn't working so well, apparently. I changed the port, and now it works. I know it's not the best advice, but i tried everything else, so maybe the port you're using is not in such a good shape either.
thanks - one other thing how do I get video into onyx its not made clear on the website at all - I think the midi thing is a problem with vista not having a middi mapper
I am having the problem "KP3 not found" when i run the editor, everything is set to ENA, no background programs running, i don't have mem card. any clue how to fix it? I reinstalled all drivers, still no luck!
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream all the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown =)
I'm going through the same thing. Everything is enabled, downloaded the drivers from korgs website and i still get "Kp3 is not found" error everytime i click on recieve in the editor.
@pooisyummy1 Don't worry I've sorted it now, and for those of you having this problem on a mac, just go into Audio Midi setup and open the midi window and just click on "Rescan" and It should sort it out Cheers! x
Great tutorial dude, but I've gone through the Kp3's ext ctrl menu and enabled everything and It keeps saying "device not found" on the kp3 editor window, any ideas as to why this is? Thanks man. x

May want to check out Kaoss main website, see if you need extra drivers. Another idea would be to make sure you reset your kp3 to default settings. I made both these videos years ago and computers have changed a good deal since. So I may not be much help till I get a change to get my kp3 back out.
Yeah. Updating the firmware can only be done on a 32bit windows. I have 64bit windows 7 on my laptop and the updater wouldn't run on it so I had to run it from my Mums 32bit laptop. I don't think Korg will release a 64bit updater; it's already been quite a few years...
My kp3 also is not found. I've updated its system, uninstalled and reinstalled both the driver and editor, no beans. Checked my midi filter, changed the usb port, all no good. Whaaatttt isss goooing ooooon?!
a quick Google search bright up several results for kp3 xy controller. this video simply shows how to initially set it up, and is not meant as an all inclusive feature overview of the kp3. you could also contact Korg directly and ask the manufacturer who would be able to confirm such a limitation.
@jrichtman I just think it is funny that he or she has no clue how to use the word "than" correctly. It is "then" not "than" for what they were trying to say. Fakie..."than" refers to comparison there Webster.

im getting the same problem. Have you resolved the issue? Im getting frustrated with it and any help would be appreciated homie

Have you heard if this method is possible with serrato dj or using scratch live Dj?
if you are having kp3 not found make sure to check that you have kp3 not kp3+ software, depending on which unit you own. this was the fix for me.
also if you plug it in in different usb ports each time, it will create a fuss in the pc / sometimes you need to delete the device from device manager and re-install it
thanks for the tutorial, gonna be using this later.

May be a hardware issue, if it's new-ish contact korg, they'll either help you find the problem or replace the unit.

I have not tried using the kp3 with other equipment, now days it sits in its box. At least until I get more room to set it up for proper use.

Can you help me with this method? The technique is getting a message saying that the computer is not recognizing the device

Thanks man. x
same here , is it really built for windows 10? maybe not
It's worth noting that you can only update the hardware on a 32 bit system.
Thanks will try that, having no luck with windows 10, 64 bit keep getting 'KP3 not found' error.
thanks so much!
just uninstall all drivers and start over with the last version of Korg's drivers...

what about the korg dj controller in Abelton using the x y in vst to control?
Thanks
can u help me pls it always giving me kp3 not found in using mac book , i dont know what is the problem ?? i want to connect it the to use it as a midi , r u connecting via usb port from ur kp to usb port in ur lap ? when u connect it as a usb its gives u any message ??
I have not used the kp3 with Mac, but yes I am using USB. Both videos go through all the steps I used to connect it to my computer.
yah thx for the replied , but when u just connect ur kp3 as i usb , bcause i dont know if my mac read it :)

Yeah my mac doesnt pick up the KP through the USB
i try and i try and i try , always not found :(((((
Thank you
Is there any fix for KP3 not found?
Yeah. Updating the firmware can only be done on a 32bit windows. I have 64bit windows 7 on my laptop and the updater wouldn't run on it so I had to run it from my Mums 32bit laptop. I don't think Korg will release a 64bit updater; it's already been quite a few years...
mine wasnt found at first, i just turned the kp3 on and off and it was found
well I followed instructions up to 2:20 add I still continue to get the "KP3 Not Found" Message.
My kp3 also is not found. I've updated its system, uninstalled and reinstalled both the driver and editor, no beans. Checked my midi filter, changed the usb port, all no good. Whaaatttt isss goooing ooooon?!
till says "kp3 not found" :(
I tried it on another PC, everything works just great, i guess my laptop is ready for win reinstal :)
so is there not a setting which allows you to use it as an xy controller? that's crap
a quick Google search bright up several results for kp3 xy controller. this video simply shows how to initially set it up, and is not meant as an all inclusive feature overview of the kp3. you could also contact Korg directly and ask the manufacturer who would be able to confirm such a limitation.
alright mate i'm jus having alot of trouble tryig 2 set the pad up dude so would really appreciate your help so could u inbox me cheers again:)
240PIXEL???????????????????????????
just don't brick it.
@jrichtman I just think it is funny that he or she has no clue how to use the word "than" correctly. It is "then" not "than" for what they were trying to say. Fakie..."than" refers to comparison there Webster.
Oh no! That'd be awful, because I got it from eBay and they might not help eBayers. (frowny face)
