    If a person wanted to save weight on cable ends, consider 'bird caging' the eyelets. Ironically, it's typically only used where you need maximum strength from the cable end. Amazing build, I just stumbled across it and I'm enjoying your videos. You clearly have the patience of a saint.

    I think there is a risk in how the tail rotor pitch control rod axis is fixed.
    Two screws are the only way to fix the red rod axle from the wire to the control bar (timestamp 17; 24)
    During flight, this screw may loosen and cause loss of tail rotor pitch control.
    It is recommended to fix this shaft with a dowel pin, etc., instead of screwing it.

      @johnthemodeler9281 Год назад

      Excellent observation. The bolt threads themselves cause possible fracture points and should not be used for like this. a Dowel pin is the way to go. :)

      An intricate maintenance schedule needs to be written with every single piece installed as there are many areas that will fall prey to metal fatigue. Adequate and correct lubrication is another consideration.

      Вы сударь, слишком сильно озабочены мелочами. Я уверен, после сборки будут ходовые испытания с выявлением слабых мест креплений, осей, точек крепления.

  • @tareksma1

    The system is as strong as the weakest part. That 2 small screws that engage the shaft would take all the load?? They will end up breaking maybe.
    And that beating will take side or axial load, not perpendicular load. Wouldn't be best using 2 side load bearing, one for each direction??
    I like your videos. Thanks for sharing

    Amigo.

    Your pitch setting is probably quite close to correct as a steady tail setting is not zero pitch, but whatever is needed to keep the tail steady.

  • @K1VV1939
    @K1VV1939 Год назад +5

    For it to Fail, all that needs to happen is 2 screws holding a 5mm shaft let go.
    The Nice Red bit and small pin shaft needs something like a 10mm square shaft with fixing screws ... Just commenting ...

    • @ultralighthelicopter
      @ultralighthelicopter  Год назад +6

      Yes i agree, this design with 2 screws holding the shaft is a weak point. Need to do a update on this....

    I Agree with Iron c ly---the fixi g of the Red Bit is a bit weak. I fly model hellicopters, and was amazed at the force needed to control the pitch on a model. That really is the weak link in the system, and you have no control if it does slip

    Please do not kill yourself. Aluminium on aluminium bearings ar NOT good and when using the bearinghousing as you do you are prone to have cracks in the border between housing and pegs, you did not machine a radius on it which is NO good. Take your time and finish your machine a safe way. Good luck building.

    • @tareksma1
      @tareksma1 Год назад

      I was thinking, the bearing main load would be axial load and its not meant to take this axial or side load. Wouldn't be better to use 2 side load bearings, one for each load direction?? The bearing he used is for perpendicular load.
      And that 2 screws that fix the axis are the weakest point in the system and definitely will fail.

    Mmmmmmm, muy inseguro ese sistema para mover el paso del rotor de cola,un eje tan pequeño precionado por solo dos tornillos, sin espina, sin chaveta u otro sistema de fijación, es muy peligroso, teniendo en cuenta la importancia del rotor de cola.

    All this is great...BUT who puts dural on dural...all rollers without bearings.... dust and sand will get there...and this is for sure, there are such scoring, such wear will be and then backlashes will be....And the hook of the stopper is also made of dural... is not afraid that it may simply straighten out - bend from the loads, and what is made of steel sheet cannot be bent.And another thing...the back edge of the blade I never noticed...he didn't weld it on...he left it all on foam to hold on...!!! ??????
    I would definitely not do that.... it's not right !!! 👎👎👎

    Please,, wipe your vise surface parallels before you place parts on them. The accrued intolerance will come back and bit you in the a$$. Very sloppy machining, but very determined methodology. I've worked building helicopters at Sikorsky Aircraft for 10 years. Such sloppy machining would have got you fired. You are building quite a nice helicopter there. It would be sad to see something bad happen. Also, a dowel should be used instead of a bolt. Dowels are much stronger, and bolts can fracture at the threads (17:24). They are made for tension, not shear force. Dowels are what you need for shear force.
