I was born in 1976 so I neve got to visit a New York Fair like this. But My mom did. In her seventy's now, I actually use these videos as memory check with her. Glad she still knows everything of her time there.
1964 a big year for NYC besides the world's fair. Including 1)the opening of Shea Stadium the long time home of the NY Mets and NY Jets. 2)Verrazano Bridge opens which to this date is still the newest major crossing in NYC proper. 3)The then brand new R36 nyc subway cars would become the model for all future subway/rapid transit/light rail for not only the Big Apple but also public transit around the world (climate control heat & a/c being among the biggest new equipment. )
Neither R36s (nor R32s) had AC as standard equipment in 1964. It was the last 10 R38s that were the first, with the intial six cars (three pairs) in service 7/19/67.
Since I was three years old I grew up with riding on the 7 train but unfortunately it's been years and I stopped going a lot frequently and it's a long story.... What memories still do exist for me.

My mom and grandmother were there. I didn't come along until 1969, but I would have loved it there.

Also the R32s were put into service as the first all stainless steel subway car.

I went to this World's Fair with my parents and brother and we took the subway from Manhattan
About 20 years ago this ad dislodged itself from its secret hiding place in my brain and became a week-long earworm. Now it's back. Arrrrghhh!
Ironic how they were advertising ridership on an elevated line while they were demolishing others.
AH TO BE 14 AGAIN AND TO LIVE 5 SUBWAYS STOPS AWAY FROM FLUSHING MEADOWS ON THE #7 LINE!
We'd take the Q12 in from Little Neck and get on at Flushing Main St.
90th st?
Great ad, I am looking for the LIRR commercial that Oscar Brand did circa 1960s
