Thanks you very much!! I really wanted this information!! Sometimes you want to show the product, machine or mechanism as quickly as possible but in a professional way and by doing this you get really good results just inside inventor
About the rotation of the background in the end of the video; the hdri defaults to the "view" that was on when you opened the assembly/part. If you set the view to what you wish, save, close and reopen the file, the view won't move by itself anymore when enabling ray tracing.
you can actually take Fusion 360 object into a game engine like Unreal Engine 4 and render it real time with glorious textures, it's not for mere mortals but if you know the work-around needed you can edit the Fusion object directly in Unreal in real time and have the dimensions translate directly back into Fusion in real time.. pretty cool.
hoping you can help. ive followed every step and double checked. tried with more than one HDRI and multiple size thumbnails. when choosing the lighting file on Inventor, the image shows but when checking the "scene image display" box, a text box showing "cannot find the source 'name of file' of the image based lighting" is there anything that can be done. many thanks
So I did everything exactly as you said to but it wont work. when i go into inventor, the lighting style is there, but when i click on it it says "cannot find the image lighting source "space"(thats the name i used for the file) of this lighting style" but then I can go into the studio lighting styles and click "space" and display the scene and the scene will show up and work like normal, EXCEPT now my model turns black as if there is nothing lighting it up. any insight as to why that may be? thanks!
I tried the method and the environment came up successfully. However, the scaling of the environment seems to be way to big compared to my actual assembly. Any ideas on how to scale the environment down?
Hi Neil, awesome tutorial thank you very much. I have had success getting the HDRI into my renders but I have no control over the zoom of my imported images? I other words the scale of the imported background does not match my model. The zoom slider has no control, I have also tried manually changing the scale parameter in the code. Any chance of some tips here? Thanks in advance
It works with inv 2021. I just did it. Check your filenames, also don't forget to enable the background image in the light settings as explained in this video
I've already made a video on it, I'm planning on re-doing it though as it's a terrible video, too rambly and looks awful ruclips.net/video/4EsPew4FCzM/видео.html but the specs are mostly the same except I've now got the RTX 2080Ti graphics card instead of the GTX 1080Ti
Interesting idea. I just have one issue with this in 2015. trying this out I get a "cannot find the source old_depot of the image based lighting" everything looks correct in the file names and xml
when you save the .png you need to make shure its name is "Thumbnail" , if not the program will not find your immage. I had the same problem and did look what name it was givven in the video, did this the same and problem was resolved.

Haha nice was trying to figure out if this was possible or not a few days ago, glad to see it is.

Does this work with 2023? I tried but "cannot find the image lighting source... of this lighting style" when Im clicking "Display Scene Image"
Awesome this could have been helpful the other day haha. Thanks for the great advice sir.
Doesn't work. "cannot find image lightning source"
Thank you mate! You unlocked the doors of Heaven!
You're really great and May God Bless you.
That's crazy! Great 1.
Hi, it is possible to place objet pretty near to ground like on Stuttgard Courtyard? Thank you so much.
I love how you rename a file by clicking and not using the menu or F2.
Nothing works for me! I have already spent 2 hours. The inventor says he cannot read the lighting file. How to solve this !?
Great job !! Thanks.
Thats Genius thanks.

when choosing the lighting file on Inventor, the image shows but when checking the "scene image display" box, a text box showing "cannot find the source 'name of file' of the image based lighting"
is there anything that can be done.
many thanks

I'm having a similar problem, black model! I also have a black background though.

Did you try to change the IBLScale in the lighting.xml file? Maybe it would work?

Hello, I have the same problem ! Did you find a solution ?
Same problem here.
Nice Video,
I tested it with Inventor 2021 but it doesn't work, is it different from 2020?

Could you please tell What's your computer spec?

👍👍👍👍👍 super
If you find you're copy + pasting a LOT then I recommend a program called "Ditto" to reduce the amount of to & fro.
Clipboard history is baked into the latest version of Windows 10. Use WIN+V instead of CTRL+V
