Unless she's a parent to an underaged child, then she is not responsible for ANY OTHER PERSONS ACTIONS. Now if she was egging him on or demanded he do it, then that's different. But she actively tried to tell him to stop. She can't put herself in harms way, she did what she could. Even if she is friends with the guy, she is still not liable or responsible for his actions! This is insane that this is even an issue. The only problem i see is she may not have went into questioning fast enough? Even with that she was probably scared or worried. But she went in. This shouldn't even be an issue. Which unfortunately korea loves to make non-issues into huge issues. Korea is so messy.

Jessie is the connection to the assailant. And every normal mother would want to rip apart someone who beat up her kid. Assailant is not there so she has to go after someone who knows him and (maybe) protecting him?

If mom was so worried, Why was he out in an alley? She doesn't ha e controller over folks around her. She is human just like us. The SK media is selling you a false narrative. @@tahitihawaiiblue Jessi has already given them the information on the person. Her son is 18, not 5. He’ll be alright. The mom is definitely looking for money. And that’s why she is so fixated on Jessi.

Jessie does not deserve this. What happened with Suga has made me ultra sensitive to the cruelty, to the hypocrisy, of the eagerness of a subsection of korean netizens who with S Korean media act like the crowd in a ancient Roman colliseum salivating as the christians are torn apart by the lions.
I disagree with you she might have not touched the kid but those guys are on her payroll on top she lied saying that she barely knew them not even called the cops and she got found in a club it wasn't a restaurant it was a club the videos are there even when the cops found her! A woman is not obligated to protect anyone against a man who has been proven to be dangerous. He could break every bone in her body and she would not be able to defend herself. Is that what was called for? Jessi has been through more than enough at the hands of the psychopaths just for being a genuine, unique talent as well as a complete female human being. She's a top flight entertainer and in the end, her talent and bravery will triumph.
I don't think even the Koreans expected her to physically intervene in the fight. What's most disappointing is that, when the police arrived, she had already fled the scene and was nowhere to be found. The police found her group, minus the attacker, drinking at a bar as if nothing had happened. Given that it was her own fan who was assaulted by one of her affiliates, the least she could have done was check on the fan to make sure he was okay or call the police. The fan had to call the police himself. After that, the victim and his parents reached out to Jessi’s company for help identifying the attacker, but they were essentially told that they didn’t know. Koala messaged them, advising them not to contact Jessi. Remember, for the victim, Jessi’s company number was the only publicly available contact, so they couldn’t have contacted Koala directly. If they had genuinely wanted to help, given that the attacker was Koala’s personal friend, they could have easily done so. Jessi is being criticized for how she handled the situation after it all happened.
It's not that Jessi should've intervened physically, it's that she kinda fled the scene afterwards. What prevented her from sticking around and saying sorry to the fan? She wouldn't be in this mess at all if she simply showed some concern for the fan's well-being and helped him out in whatever way. Yet all her excuse seems to be is, "Well I wasn't the one who murdered this person, I simply witnessed it...why are you criticizing me for not reporting to the police or helping the victim when I was simply a witness to the murder?" It's the total lack of moral responsibility that's getting Jessi side-eyed, not the crime itself.

In my opinion, this case is once again great for the media and the "public" that loves to bad mouth about celebrities. I mean, why don't they interview the producer, who seems to be closer to the perpetrator, or let him take such a photoline in front of the police station ? Why not discuss the other men who are standing around and don't rush to intervene? And if the other (stronger) men didn't intervene, why is she (as a woman) expected to do so? Clearly, this would simply not be as interesting....
Unfortunately the entertainment companies are also enabling these crazy sick fans. They do everything to please the fans even at the expense of the artists freedom and humanity. It's all about money.
Another thing is that the Korean audience and entertainers had already pinned this 'gangsta girl' label on her ever since the Unpretty Rapstar show where she delivered the now infamous quote "who are you to judge me?". She didn't disrespect or demean anyone. She STOOD UP for herself and that immediately rubbed people the wrong way and bolstered the existing prejudice about 'Americans' and she instantly became some 'American Thug' to them. They constantly pushed this imagery on her for years on every show she participated in. So the fact that she showed strength despite being bullied and discriminated against simply for being born somewhere else became her crime. The Korean entertainment machine has done this repeatedly to American-born Koreans. Bom from 2NE1, Tiffany from GG, and many others, even those not American-born but from anywhere else. When you are so determined to be prejudiced even when the person is the same as you, well, we are already starting at the bottom.
This is NOT JESSI’S FAULT she Already said no to the fan but the fan is not respecting her decision and boundaries, she was just trying to escalate the situation and stop the fight
Thank you so much for covering this!!! 🙏🏻 It really is a terrible injustice, and horribly upsets me because I've been seeing her treated sooooo unfairly ever since she got to Korea before debut, and it has been awful. I especially can understand and relate to her as a Korean gyopo woman who didn't fit a lot of the traditional Korean looks or behaviors that were expected of us, when I was younger too. ❤️❤️❤️
The flash notification is a good variable to consider Sean thanks so much for talking about this and sharing your take on this. This should have been discussed more by the Korean public. But it isn’t. THAT IS SAYING A LOT about the Korean public. The perception of Korea increased for me after BTS. Now, I am reminded why I never cared for Korea before BTS.
@@LMck-p8b Because if she simply wanted ACTUALLY fair justice for her son, after seeing the video for herself, she would be pursuing the attacker and not someone who did nothing wrong to her child. You know what it is, fr! 🤑

The producer even messaged them not to contact Jessie. You have to remember for the victim they don’t have Kuala’s personal contact details. Only way is to contact them through Jessie’s company, the attacker, was Koala’s personal friend. If they genuinely wanted to find the attacker, they would’ve helped them from the start. Jessi is not guilty for someone else's actions. It doesn't matter what the relationship is between the assailant and Jessi. She DID NOT punch the other guy. And for fans...when a celebrity says NO, it means NO!! Geez.

Everyone can see on the video that Jessi IS NOT encouraging a fight. We can see that she is trying to stop her friend from re-acting to the heckler fan. And now the haters are saying that she should have tried harder??? Any normal woman would have turned and run away from that heckler, but Jessi, this one popular celebrity, chose to stay and pulled her friend back. And suddenly, this 3rd party guy rushed forward to assault the heckler fan. How can any of this be Jessi's fault? You did well Jessi. Thank you for not putting yourself in greater danger. Proud of you. Stay cool. Pray you recover well from all this nonsense.🌹
I did see the flashing originally so I assumed he was taking photos from the start even though she was saying no, I thought that was the reason the fight started, though I agree that wasn’t an excuse for the guy to hit him. But the fact that SHE is taking the blame for all this is awful. The fact that people seems to think one small woman should take on two large men is ridiculous and to me whilst I know kpop idols have an impossible set of “rules” to adhere to, her getting cancelled in Korea because of this and being in a photoline etc whilst there is a male kpop idol accused of ra*ing a woman that people STILL want to protect, who as far as I know hasn’t done a photoline or has endless articles about him says a lot about peoples opinion on something else

I don't know much about Jessi but, I truly like her personality. Not sure of how much negotiating she could have done with a teenager before the authorities arrived?! Nonetheless, hopefully she can do something special for the teen and that abuser needs to be found and held accountable! Btw, the flash feature is very popular and always activated especially, while at work. Sean, you are a great communicator, thank you for reporting on this!
Yeah I heard about Jessie situation it’s appalling Kmedia and netizens are trying to cancel her??korea is indeed a dangerous place for artists but safe for corrupted politicians and criminals.I hope she get through this 👍
I don't think she deserves all the hate she is getting and I don't think she should have physically separated the fight herself, however, I do believe she should have called the police and reported and they would have dealt with it themselves, and maybe the actual assailant would have been caught and she wouldn't be taking all the heat alone if any at all. But that doesn't mean I believe the boy was an actual fan of hers, and honrstly he might have approached the group with malice, since she is a "controversial" person

Jessi is the alter ego that represents and says everything South Koreans wish they could say outloud. Her authenticity is very appealing. Unfortunately, the guy who hit the teen fan had no understanding of how his actions would affect Jessi. From what I've read fans are upset that she didn't do more to protect the fan. She also said she didn't know the man that hit the fan, when in reality she actually had met him before. I agree, the phone flash triggered the men - her friend is in the white shirt and the guy that hit the fan is in the black shirt and comes to help his friend. Bottom line, at the end of the day she's in the wrong place, at the wrong time. I think the "cancellation" of Jessi is an overreaction. I hope she can get through this.
Thanks for making this clear. It’s so unfortunate that she is going through this. Would be nice if the media is scrutinized and shamed like she is. I hope that she totally cooperated with the police and didn’t hinder the investigation. I really like her and I hope this doesn’t affect her career much. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank You Sean your sincere breakdown of all topics truly helps me understand better. So what about this scandal going around. regarding HYBE's LEAKED INTERNAL DOCUMENTS. Will you be elaborating about it ,would love to hear your thoughts.
It's crazy that folks believe she should've been the one to stop the fight. There was more than enough guys out there that could've intervened and handled that. Even the the other female jumping in and grabbing ol' boy, she shouldn't have had to do that. And no Jessi shouldn't be blamed for his actions, he chose to go in on that young man. And since this guy was Koala's friend then Koala should've checked his friend, gang affiliation or not. Far as I'm concerned he's not a real friend to her either. You don't let her take the blame for your "friend's" wrong behavior.

@@underthegardenwall She did fled the scene. I feel sorry for the fan that he wasn't consoled. Jessi might have thought it was better she fled? The assailant was a gangster. It would look bad on Jessi if she was associated with a gangster. Maybe she drank to much and not making the right decisions. Maybe she's human and had a off night. But even if Jessi did it to intentionally hurt the fan's feelings, the reaction is overblown. There's a point when the punishment is not fitting the crime, and this is one of those cases. I hope Jessi has had the opportunity to console the fan now. Really she should not have been forced to give two public apologies. She should only be responsible for one private one.
I agree with you on some blame on the victim coming up with a phone that is already flashing. Not blaming the victim, but saying it made the situation worse. Look, I have guy friends and some them are hot heads. When you add alcohol in the mix it can get worse. I saw the situation as the victim who is also Korean American, saying can I have a picture, the phone flashes and Jessi politely says no. Koala (probably drunk or over protective) starts to yell at the guy in English. The Chinese guy also speaks English only sees his friend Koala angry at this guy and jumps right in with no questions asked. I have guy friends like this that will ask questions later and have beat up guys first if they see one of their friends upset. The issue I have is why is all the blame on Jessi? What do you think a female could do in this situation? Also, if the rumors are true and the Chinese guy is not just gang affiliated, but with the triads. Do you really think she is going to risk her life to rat on a triad. Hell no. The hate on Jessi is crazy but it goes to show, gyopos are Korean until a scandal comes up and now she's a foreigner and asked to leave Korea. I feel bad for her.

I love Jessi, and support her. Is really stupid to punish her, for what other person did. What is going on in Korea? It seems that they don't approve bullying but they are bullying idols?
Yes. I teach high school and early college students and they definitely use the flashing mode. It's pretty annoying in class where they aren't supposed to have it out at all anyway... but so do vibrate and of course sounds. The first time I saw it I did wonder what the heck was going on and wondered if they were taking pictures or something so I can see where the guy might have thought that. BUT...... Also... I don't think it's ok for someone to just beat on a fan even if they were taking unapproved photos. They could have yelled at him or gotten in front of her to block him. Repeatedly hitting him? No. But again I don't see how it is Jessi's fault except that she needs to be careful of who is hanging with her group. And EVEN if she IS REALLY a tough woman... those dudes were A LOT bigger than her. Sure she might go toe to toe with me... I was about her size at her age and I was in Korean martial arts for years....... but even I would hesitate going against that guy if he really was some gang guy from China. She didn't know him like that. Me and another woman? Sure. Me and an average guy? ok... Me and any guy trying to hurt me? Yeah... but that guy??? I don't know.

Being famous, people will want to get close to you for many reasons. Sometimes, people will really just want to spend more time with you, so they'll kind of badger you and ask you something or for something like a picture to get you to spend more time with them. This is a little needy, but it's perfectly innocent. Then there are, what the old school in America call it, "glory chasers". They feel the more time they get you to spend with them, the more "power" they have over you. (In the grand scheme of things, "power" is not a thing, it is a concept created by man for people looking to compensate for something, or for whatever reason they may have taught themselves or had been taught to need to use the concept of power...but no one actually needs it, it only leads to manipulation, scheming, and other horrid practices committed by humans). These glory chasers are really good at looking innocent to the naked eye, as part of their m.o. Is to get away with being a dick in front of others...they get off on it, kind of like how people get off on cuckolding and gas lighting. For some, it's socio-sexual. And it's gross to anyone who does not wish to participate. It's one of those practices you really should keep to yourself. They are good at making it look like they simply wish to talk to you, when in fact they are getting off on making you have to stay in their presence "uncomfortably". It's how people treat people in captivity. It's also how predators get young people into their homes so that they can molest them or introduce them to the sex trade. Being famous, you get no less than one person a day trying to glory chase you. I've got more than 300 in one day at the airport once, it's not okay. In this case with Jesse, I can't tell if the male is trying to glory chase or if he simply wanted more time. I could see why her crew would hit him though, because they may have felt he was trying to glory chase her. This usually happens on days or weeks where an artist is glory chased by many individuals, almost a crescendo leading to a publicity incident. This mechanism is used by people who wish to make profit off of incidents involving celebrities. People will organize a set of incidents leading up to the incident in which things finally get out of hand, and therefore presenting the opportunity for a scandal. These scandals make people hundreds to thousands of dollars. It also feeds the public with propaganda and creates a buzz that can allow for people to use said buzz to promote whatever they wish that would fall linear to said scandal or incident. It also makes the persons who love spreading rumors feel more popular, and given that these people will do anything for attention, these people love when scandals go down so that they have something to talk about. It's really said that in 2024 after all the work we have done for discrimination and equal rights, that people are acting so foolishly. It's wrong. Please back off of Jesse. Not cool man, not cool. I decided never to release or sign, so I get to yell at whoever glory chases me and put them in their place. Being a signed artist, you have to watch what you say and do your best to walk away, and that is sooooooo difficult. It takes its toll. Please go easy on celebrities and try to understand that these things happen, even though they shouldn't, as the people who glory chase should seriously be punished for their behavior. Peace and love.

Jessi’s “Persona” is just that, a “PERSONA”! This is like people not liking certain actors/actresses only because they play villains extremely well! From the different interviews I’ve seen of Jessi, she actually seems pretty tender hearted. This is 100% guilt by association being placed on her. Do I think she should have stayed with the fan until the police arrived, yes. However, I wasn’t there and I am not a celebrity, and the “rules” are a little different. I hope one day the world and especially the people of SK realize that celebrities are humans too, and that they, the SK citizens, DO NOT own the celebrities. Thank you Sean.

I think all of this is very unfortunate. I also think it's weird how the Korean public is blaming her. I think the whole "her friends being in a gang" is justification for them treating her like crap. Shes literally a celebrity girl around a bunch of fighting men. What was she supposed to do? As a celeb, you take yourself out of a messy situation. The publics reaction is so twisted to me.
My unpopular opinion is that celebrities are humans first, as fans we should learn to leave them alone when they are NOT on oficial schedules, if we see them having a meal or having a drink, having a smoke on their private time, we should leave them alone please. Personally, I wouldn't approach them to ask for a picture or autograph. There are a bunch of those online.
🇺🇸 Where were her Body Guards.. that’s the dif in the US, popular Celebs always have their Body Guards with them at any Social gathering, it makes a huge dif in these situations.. So if ur wondering how Guards make a dif, they would b on guard inside or outside to address any Fans with questions, at the same time they can stand against any Bullies hanging around.. so hopefully she’ll keep her Guards with her from now on.
This is so “unfortunate “. I know JESSE because of the older Kpop Star 🌟 HYORI’s BED & BREAKFAST on Netflix. They collaborated so that’s how I became familiar with JESSE. I like her because her persona is unique and yes, NORM for American. I see this as another attempt at (BLACK MAIL) because she is a Celebrity just like the SUGA situation. I felt that young kid was a money grab target 🎯. I don’t listen to either really but I try to support them as humans and I pray no one tries to attempt to EXTORT $$$ because of the “CELEBRITY” Status or because of envy with a dab of JEALOUSY. Of course she has the right to refuse pictures with any fans request…she’s not obligated to do it especially because she’s having dinner and maybe a few drinks 🍺. She’s an ADULT. I pray the HATERS leave her alone. Once again, I like her unique personality and style. Sending her ❤and encouragement and you as well SEAN. You’re a voice of reason in this matter.
I think what people forget is that if Jessi was drinking, her decision-making could be hindered. When you drink, the actions you take when sober are different than when drinking. Her being not as in your face upfront could be because of this. She may have been shocked and responded slow.
When company do customer behavior research like public relation company, but haters accused the company who made bad comments in social media including their politician, it is very funny and stupid. There are many stupid people in South Korean.
Honestly, other than G-Dragon and TOP (from Bigbang) Jay Park (maybe), and most definitely my girl JESSI❤ everyone else in KPOP can suck rocks…! JESSI is talented, unapologetically herself, and a baddie too so I get why Koreans in Korea (just cause she's not 'Korean-Korean') have been looking for any excuse to tear her down…but they need to chill cause it's JESSI ❤mannnnn! She's one of my "they can mess with anyone else in KPOP but her" so they need to chillllllll x2!
Ugh, this just reeks of people with sad little lives taking out their frustrations on who- or whatever because that's easier than changing the one in the mirror. And to the media: Try earning your money using the high road instead of always rolling around in the dirt. There're so many more urgent and important problems in the world for you to focus on. JFC! 🙄

Hell no.
Can you do a video on the hybe reports that were discussed during the assembly
He won't do it because he is ignoring all the shady stuff Hybe did coming out of that report. He's a Hybe stan. He acts like nothing happened and just spews misinformation, an absolute coward.
@@davidrizzuto2121damn . It’s been a few days now so I was suprised when he didn’t make any videos yet . He’s usually so quick
JESSI, WE ARE WITH YOU!!!
YOU ARE A QUEEN ABD WE KNOW HOW KMEDIA DESTROY LIVES.
WE STAND WITH YOU
This is the same thing as the suga situation. The thing that piss me off is that the video is there and ppl just can’t make sense of it?
I love her variety show content, she’s hilarious!
JUSTICE FOR JESSI
WE LOVE YOU JESSI
🙋🏽♀️🤗😍💜✌🏽🙏🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
#JUSTICEFORJESSI #KMEDIASHAME #ARMYLOVE
Jessie is the queen, and no one can bring her down ....she is so transparent and strong woman....seeing her sad makes my heart sad.....
And ....
Sean we want your insigjts on the assembly where belift coo was called for......there are so many articles going around and we are worried sick, can you make a video on it so tht its clear for the international fans.
I'd not idea some mobile's have a flash alert for texts and calls coming in not seen it used here in the UK. I guess they don't bother with that function as that would be blasted annoying. But then most people here keep their mobiles in case's to protect them as screens are easily smashed. Hardly anyone carries one without it being in some kind of protective casing.
I say this respectfully Jessi is an American version of SALT AND PEPPA , LITTLE KIM , NIKKI MANAG ALL WRAPPED UP IN ONE . I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST HER , I HOPE SHE STAY STRONG AND KEEP MOVING AHEAD 💜💖❤️🙂
Not the first time and won't be the last where the kmedia and the knetizens assume before getting all the facts.
Look out over there.if you'll sneeze you will get sue..what a joke.🤦♀️
Poor Jessie😮💨
Jessie been hated on in Korea. They were waiting for this because she not a real korean but Korean american. She didnt do nothing wrong. 2 men got into a fight and thats where the issue should stay between those 2 men
Yes 👍🏽..good point.
My understanding of the backlash is that Jessi has not fully cooperated with the police investigation. It may be true that she only knows the assailant in passing, but she does know people (Koala) who do. I am ok with her not getting involved in the fight, but she could have done more to get the assailant brought in
She wasn’t cheering them on to fight or provoking it in any way. She even tried to stop the fight but they are MUCH bigger and stronger than her. I don’t understand why she’s getting so much hate. What the guy who punched the teen did was wrong and HE should be held responsible, not her. She was basically just a witness to this
My Jessi who rarely foes out of jer home but jad to that particular day😢 who do you? The fact that there arr more people who could take her side as they were all out together but all of them leaving her to bear the heat. Neither is the news of drinking after true. They truly let at a bar, but they didn't even drink. It's such a pity!
Damn, I am sorry Jessi.
People seems to have learned nothing. Damn.
Love love love Jessi! You are right….shes funny, beautiful, talented and outspoken…..so what? Why isn’t the male that brought the plus one getting the blame here? For Gawd sakes….leave her alone! ❤️🇨🇦
Are you going to be just as Zealous at HYBE as you were New Jeans? The Leaked HYBE Documents provide you with hours of Content? Will be See any of it against HYBE? My Prediction is we MIGHT see a minute or two of content that you will downplay. But you won't be Zealous to try to uncover the Truth as Your Bias is HYBE.
I think people are just using this event as an excuse to bully her cause they don't like her bold looks and demeanor. For reference, let's say one of K-pop gg it girls such as IVE Wonyoung was in this situation, I doubt anybody would attack her to the degree Jessi is because she has a strong persona.
the way they treat jessi is giving very much "she doesnt even go here" type vibes. there still seems to be much stigma against mixed nationalities over there, it seems to be one huge toxic dumpster not to mention it doesnt help that she is moderately older than the average idol nowadays it seems like theyre so quick to name and shame anyone who isnt the expected standards for an idol
There's a video of Jessi and Henry performing Tones-And-I's *Dance Monkey* (they did an awesome job!🔥) and in the comment section someone said:> Jessi - Korea's culture shock. And I remember giggling at the accuracy! She's too "out there" for Korea's perfect standards.
Well stated. I agree…it’s her “PERSONA” that makes her endearing and uniquely outspoken S. Korean/American and I love her transparent personality ❤.
In the US, they will go after the assailant. There’s even video evidence.
I don't understand the Korean law because those who did nothing wrong are the ones who will be charged and quickly appear in the news and then while the people who are guilty seem to have nothing to do with them, there is no news about them..😢Jessi laban lang
I would never start by saying, violence is never acceptable. But as a woman being approached later at night by an unknown man (18ish is still a man) is scary regardless who is with you. So her friends stood up for her, as there was no sound we cant tell what was being said but there was defo some conversation which has sparked a situation. She tried to stop but being a realist realised there was nothing she could do so walked away. This is something most par3nts tell you growning up, if something is happening walk away before you get in trouble. What so people expect. If she got hurt what would people say?? Its ridiculous the way people who have nothing to do with anything have the biggest say... this makes me angry sorry for the rant x
@@tanyarobinson2954 You're absolutely right!!!
Yeah, she got so scared she went to another bar drinking lol
@@Kevin-ol7gj Why wouldn't she go back into the private establishment she had been in, to get off the street and away from the situation??? Not to mention away from a random weirdo that came up to you and bothered you on the street, and now caused all this drama
It's a kind of irritating to have a flashing phone stuck in your face but I think that guy overreacted.
The public's reaction is just disgusting. They're really going to destroy this woman for something she didn't even do😡
your pretty silent since hybe was exposed why aren't you barking now about newjeans dxmbfxck
Yo, and here i thought she threw hands on an innocent bystander or something but the headlines on some of these musleading articles. Smh
Didn’t she say in the Eric Nam interview that she doesn’t drink? 😭
So, I'm guessing tomorrow is the HYBE's internal report?
When company do customer behavior research like public relation company, but haters accused the company who made bad comments in social media including their politician, it is very funny and stupid. There are many stupid people in South Korean.
Im a B cup and I absolutely love jessi and her potty mouth. Shes so real.
Honestly, other than G-Dragon and TOP (from Bigbang)
Jay Park (maybe), and most definitely my girl JESSI❤ everyone else in KPOP can suck rocks…!
The Momma trying to create real life K-drama in her son’s life.
Kmedia and shamelessness are tight friends
At this point is there anyone in SK who isn't a hater!!!??? I've never known so much hate in so called music fans!!!
JFC! 🙄
Jesse is the Korean Nikki Minaj in her own right ❤
I thought he was taking pics of her from the side
Jessi is the next Kmedia witch hunt, but not as bad as Suga's. Isn't that guy an 18 years old? It's an adult age here, but they keep saying minor.
It's because legal age in korea is 20
It's actually 19..
And, kind of a loop hole... If Korea hadn't switched to International age last year, the guy would be 19-20 years old in Korean age.
