Tablo had a podcast (DIVE Studios) and was on Superman Kshow with his daughter Haru. He is also a powerful raw published poet. Not to mention a mentor for HipHop KR. He is a legend.

Tablo is a genius and a good dad. And action speak louder than words. Watch his pod cast and return of Superman show. This guy is 100% humble warm hearted man and works hard to make it. And I'm glad he had his family's support.

@@anastasiaabrahim9096 I watched Tablo on Return of Superman and Haru was adorable. There are two things I remember clearly: How shy she got when she met GD and that Tablo said he'll stop doing this show if Haru isn't having a good time. I didn't listen to hiphop until Festa 2023 when I found BTS. But I'll check out Epik High too. It's scary how many singers/idols. have been driven to a premature end by cyberbullying

I think K netizens are vicious. How they get pleasure out it tearing up people is something I don’t understand. I’m Korean American and to me it just brings down the Korean image. I’m proud of being Korean American but really ashamed of the toxicity.
I don’t think they were keyboard warriors. They were keyboard tyrants!
I didn’t know about Epik High until RM sang the song Umbrella. Amazing performance. Dan must have very high intelligence to go to Stanford and get his degrees in a shorter time.
The alumni group as you said is dysfunctional but also made up with mostly cowards. They want the glory but not brave enough to stand for what is right. I respect your courage!

This was such an incredible violation, betrayal of this amazing artist. That he still lives through this … truly tragic on a level that time will not cure. He is altered forever. I came to adore this artist about a year ago, not knowing any of this. He is genius in his own right. I am incredibly grateful to him for daring to continue in the face of this. We who support him in his success, understand this will never go away. It has become a part of his fate, his story. We will listen.

My first time I heard of Tablo is RM's latest album called All Day (with Tablo) and I love it, all RM's or Kim Namjoon's album "INDIGO", I love it, listen to Spotify, put in on in my car like every day, RM's collab with Table I love it too. So, listening to your vlog right now, I feel sorry for this guy Tablo went through. I don't really care where he graduated or whatever language he can speak or what not, if I love listening to his music, that all it matters. Doubts of people in Korea is quite really shallow.

I mourn the loss of the singers and actors who lost their lives by their own hand because of this behavior. It is murder- nothing less. I salute Tablo and those who survived this and it is my fervent prayer that they be blessed double portion, pressed down shaken together and running over.

I first came to know of Tablo on the show "Return of Superman" when Haru was just a toddler. And I became a fan of Epik High back in 2014. Then because of that, became somewhat aware of his struggles during the scandal. Only last year while listening to podcast "Authentic: The Story of Tablo" did i come to know his pain 💔 😢 . Oh my goodness. I celebrate his strength of mind and character. I think his love for his family, in particular, his deep connection with Haru is where he has incredible motivation, strength and determination to rise up and conquer those who tried to crush him. Thank you for airing this. And I hope more people will go to the podcast to listen too.

Sean this was a complicated situation and you explained it well. So proud that you came to his defense! Cudos to you. That was difficult. I gotta be a special kind of dumb here. I just don't understand how in the world you can ruin someone else's WHOLE life and get away with it. Is that site still functioning? Are any of them behind bars? Defamation of character here. In the SJM case we had to call the other guy " Mr A" because be was a suspect. We couldn't say his name at all. Is it because there are no laws concerning crimes committed on the internet? They went to his university. Openly harassed his friends. Hastened his father's death through stress. Caused his mother's business to close. Esentially ripped his life apart. Please 🙏 tell me what justice was done to make amends. I fhink we're lucky he didn't commit suicide as so many have done. There is no WAY any of us could possibly understand what he went through. So congrats to him. He's a survivor of the first order. Congrats on his new album because the best revenge is to live well. I pray all the best for him and his family from now on....

Ok saw the end of the live and waited to see the beginning. As part of BTS Army in the states one of my joys had been finding groups and individuals who are singers but not part of the traditional k pop genre. Epic high has been one of them. It is sad that he has gone thru all this unnecessary hassle.
There are many very smart and accomplished people who are/have been able to successfully maneuver thru the systems and come out looking like the stars. It is sad that some who are not so blessed have to take it upon themselves to question what they will never understand or accomplish.

I always appreciated your inside the industry type analysis, but my respect for you as a person just shot up. I appreciate that you stood with him. I know how damaged he and his family have been by that whole scandal, even to this day, even to the point that in a recent conversation on Suga's podcast he said he would not have become a musician if he had it to do over again. My own theory about the cause of that was because of the large no. of westerners living in Korea and exposing Koreans to a culture they didn't like. Tablo's hip hop rebellious style and Canada/USA roots made him the target of that dislike. I also thought that there might be govt. involvement in that organization to try to destroy his influence. His career was never the same after that. I'm not a big hip hop fan, but Tablo is such a good guy, I can't help but love him.

Just speculating: Given how an online campaign by a very big online group associated with IVE's company, against Le Sserafim in order to promote IVE's debut, was recently uncovered, is it possible that there was at that time a campaign against Tablo, because Epik High was outselling groups from SM?
Dirty and unethical methods seem to be common practice? For example, SM did the same to INFINITE who was bought from Woolim, which according to your report here, is Tablo's first company.
INFINITE was a competition to EXO. Lee Soo Man bought Infinite, and destroyed the group. I was told SM / Lee Soo Man (same diff since the man IS the company) told the fandom of INFINITE to buy EXO's albums if they want to ever see Infinite again in a comeback. From what I heard, in the hope of seeing INFINITE again the fandom did support EXO, but in return LSM killed the group. He never kept his promise.
From what I heard, when Big Hit Entertainment was close to bankruptcy, someone offered to BUY BTS too. (Shudder).
It is not too far fetched is it, that there was a more systematic effort to eliminate him from the competition. Especially given the crazy environment that you and many others have shared.

There are many college programs where one could work on an advanced degree at the same time working on your Bachelor’s. Also some kids could take college level classes (AP or IB) in high school so could be a semester ahead or more their freshman year and thus graduate
college early. (AP classes have been around since starting in 1952.)
I feel that overlapping degrees like English/creative writing could be done in 3.5 years due to similar degree requirements. Especially if you are studying and not partying.

Like Japan, it's so suffocating living out the daily expectations- face-prejudice that many become imbalanced and seek out to harm whoever they are jealous of. Tablo being one. If they would spend a little more time improving themselves instead of tearing others down maybe they could accomplish something in their own lives. We have those kinds of folks here in America but it is mainly jealousy of someone having more things than them. I was blown away when I started watching BTS and then some K-Pop at how people just did all they could to tear idols down. If you don't like them don't listen to their music and go on with your life. It seems some psycho people see success as a crime. Just can't wrap my mind around that kind of jealousy. Hope this gentleman will be able to have a better life now but the scars will never go away. I guess the online mob people made a big fuss about Tablo's credentials because they were plain jealous. Sometimes jealous people love to 'crucify' those who make a name for themselves be it in education, career and whatnot. Poor Tablo. He and his family truly suffered. I supposed Tablo's situation was something like a case of at the wrong place and at the wrong time. These online nasty mob people had nothing better to do thus spent time on social media spewing anger and hatred. I read somewhere that a few of them were finally charged with defamation. Serves them right if indeed they were were charged with defamation. For what it's worth, I like Tablo and I like his part in Taeyang's Eyes, Nose and Lips. In my opinion, he is the 'master/ sifu' when it comes to lyricism. I salute him for graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and Masters in Creative Writing. To all those jealous haters who had nothing better to do, get a decent life instead of spewing anger and hatred onto others who worked hard to be at where they are. People who spend their time feeling jealous and spewing anger and hatred are nothing but scums.

TY for this video. As a newbie to Kpop, I've been wondering how Kpop fans react when their idol needs concerted help and support at key times in their lives. Tablo's experience seems to be a common experience in the Kpop culture. Fans weaponizing themselves to attack an idol or celebrity who seems to be doing well remains a familiar strategy even in 2024. This isn't healthy nor is it practical. This type of behavior is a major turnoff to Kpop's international fans.
It seems to me that there are enough idols, celebrities, and Media folks, like yourself, who've experienced the effects of this fan weaponization to unite together and form a company where their incredible talents can shine in the global entertainment marketplace. Why hasn't this counterbalance to the fans' mobilization happened? It seems like a no brainer.
International fans have no problem supporting artists, entertainers, and others who they feel are being unfairly targeted. In fact, Americans and Europeans go out of their way to support an artitst financially as an act of defiance when this abuse happens. International fans can be weaponized as well, but generally not for hostile reasons unless a celebrity has done something criminal. Why aren't international fans given the chance to weigh-in and help support these artists under attack? Is it because of different cultures or is it because of a lack of global awareness when an issue arises?
The current MHJ-HYBE saga is evidence of the.possibility that experiences like Tablo's could be counteracted by the international Kpop audience. Internationals...including myself...are convinced MHJ is in the wrong. And the international fans won't be bullied by Korean fans into changing this conclusion despite Korean fandom doing its best to flip our support away from HYBE. As such, HYBE continues to enjoy making money for its business instead of being destroyed by the controversy. Why can't this appeal to the international market and fandoms help current and former Kpop idols and celebrities ostracized by their local communities? Why hasn't this approach been tried as a formal united strategy instead of a random happenstance? What am I missing?
I really want to understand what can be put in place as an antidote to the poisonous and unhealthy mobilization of Korean Hallyu fans that's happening even today in 2024. We need to stop the Tablo Effect for once and for all. It's time to take action.🤔

Wait! So you are telling me there are people who ruined one's career and life over a FREAKING DIPLOMA! WTF! How can people have so much free time to do these! Like why would you care if he had a diploma or not! He is an artist! He proved himself with music and talent! And this should apply for all the idols..

Epik High and Tablo rule. Loving the new "mini" album. I like between 5-10 songs on an album - a solid 30 minutes. It's fascinating watching bands like Epik High and The Rose getting their music out there in their own way. Too much drama and jealousy so sad that he is still going through this. Good overview. Thanks for your insights as usual.

Frankly, my only exposure to Korean culture comes from K-Drama but your description of what happened to Tablo is so typical of the machinations of villains in a K-Drama. I hope Tablo is faring better now. I enjoyed his recent collaboration with RM of BTS which should bring him a fresh new audience, like me.

I read about this in now defunct Korean-American magazine called KoreAm back in 2014(?) and it was mind blowing the hypocrisy, judgmental society that is the land of my people. I thought this mindset and attitude was just my family but nope! I think I also heard or read somewhere that a Korean-American man in New Jersey started this whole controversy, do you know if that’s correct?

I attended a similar university in the US. Students are thrilled to be accepted, but they don’t realize they’ve lifted themselves away from many people. The amount of anger, insults made in jest, and hatred alumni receive are unbelievable. If I knew that that was part of the legacy of graduating from an elite university, I wouldn’t have included the status as a reason for attending. The alumni who do get support from the community are those who attend public universities which are relatively difficult to enter, (and preferably have strong football teams).

Don’t people believe that a person is INNOCENT until proven GUILTY.
Have proof before humans decide to point fingers for unsustainable rumours that could end in disaster for the people, their family and friends involved.
I RESPECT tradition and South Korea is defined by that tradition but I personally feel they need to adjust a bit with the times. Tradition is very good , but there’s good Traditions and bad Traditions. We did evolved so much since the 50’s - 60’s and traditions should also accompany the evolution of times

Their all Korean, whether they grew up in the US or in Australia or in Europe, they are artist and if they debut in South Korea and they are famous now, good for them. What they don't realized, I am listening to their songs & music not in Korea, I listened to them on platforms in Spotify or Apple Music, which I don't see them as Korean or American, I only listen to their voice period. I love listening to them.

No one in Korea is safe from the social gaze turning on you. It must feel really restrictive to be a Korean celebrity. you have to watch your every move - even if you are doing nothing wrong.

Genuine artists never look back on their experiences with hate. It makes their narrative unamusing. This new generation of Korean immigrant singers unfortunately don’t have the talent that gives them an audience in the West. They are sometimes chastised as thats your people, your struggles.
If only outside cultures could understand the frustration that these young Koreans went through, watching their friends get shot to death working in a shoe store in Detroit or Chicago for a summer job.
It truly is sad that this is how far these young Korean immigrant kids have come. They have to travel two thousand miles across the Pacific, back to South Korea in order to get their voices heard! I for one am angered that none of the mainstream music industry wants to nurture their talents, they prefer to stay within their own click, but amusingly the westerners also complain they can’t get any recognition or following from a Korean music industry program. What is up with the agenda that represses one group and uplifts another?
