    Just discovered your channel and subscribed. Excellent. I flew with China Southern to Amsterdam ans back a few months ago from Sydney and found them excellent. Stopped overnight in Guangzhou as you did. The arrival time in Guangzhou and my flight time the next day were ideal for an overnight stop. I stayed at the Pullman and it was excellent. I would definitely use CS again for a trip to Europe because their prices are competitive without compromising safety, efficiency, service or comfort. I think they have a very promising future in the Australian market. Thanks again, Ryan, and look forward to seeing more of your content!

    Travelled to NZ and back from the UK with China Southern. Honestly can't fault them. The leg room was great, service was great, food was great, inflight entertainment was great.
    Only thing that I wasn't the biggest fan of was the layover in Guangzhou. It wasn't long enough to be able to go out and visit China and explore, but long enough to be very bored in the airport. I did end up getting a pass for the Premium Lounge, food was decent in there, very nice showers, but that only killed two hours. I'd love to see the airport developed more, and I would have no issues with flying with them again. Missed my connection in London on the return trip and CS very happily rebooked the next flight and put me up in a hotel, the only nightmare I had the whole trip was with British Airways trying to track down my bag after I missed the flight :D

    I had to replay 14:12 because I thought my ears were playing tricks on me 😭💀
    Those meals actually look quite tasty too. I’ve seen a few tik toks now of Aussies opting for this route to LHR as it’s allegedly more price competitive. At least it’s putting up some good competition against QF, EK and SQ.
    That pineapple tart, is it the same as the ones that you can purchase in those jars? My dad used to get them for us around CNY and if left to my own devices, I’d eat the entire jar of pineapple cookies without any shame LOL
    Might have to give this airline a try sometime!
    Thanks for sharing!

    Nilesh

    • @ryansofly
      @ryansofly  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes those meals are awesome. The pineapple tarts in those jars for CNY, which I'm assuming are the ones closer to SE Asia has cinnamon and cloves infused into the jam, so it is slightly different from the ones found in China and Taiwan. Still they're all delicious nonetheless. Those CNY tarts are a fixture of my childhood home. Yum...

      A lot of major international airlines do not speak English as their first language. JAL and ANA comes to mind. And my recent jaunt with Vietnam Airlines as well... Despite that they're all a joy to fly with. I think non English makes the experience more enjoyable anyway.

    I figured out the secret of why China Southern can serve meals so quickly, much faster than other mainstream airlines. It's because they stack the hot meal trays on top of the serving cart and quickly place them on a pre-prepared tray when you choose your meal. The drinks are served in the previous round. This is unlike other airlines, which slowly take the entire tray out of the hot cart, add the bread one by one, and then serve the drinks at the same time. Especially for the passengers seated at the back, this method makes a big difference. Waiting can feel very long when you can smell the food but have to wait a long time to be served. China Southern's approach makes it feel like you get your meal quickly no matter where you're sitting.

    • @ryansofly
      @ryansofly  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yes indeed. I saw the mains stacked on the meal cart. Which I thought most airlines would do. I think Vietnam Airlines does the same as well if I remember correctly. But I agree, the speed in which the meals were given out was very fast.

    About a month back I had a domestic flight departing CAN… also with China Southern… delayed 2 hours… day before my flight 4 hours, as you said very common, at least for Guangzhou traffic. Shanghai I have had much better luck. Enjoyed my experience with China Southern and very surprised I got a specialty dietary meal on a domestic China flight of 1.5 hours… something I don’t get in Aus! Looking forward to China Southern (hopefully) restarting ADL-CAN in the summer 🤞

    Ryan - what an interesting routing to reach Europe. Yes the airlines of China are capitalising on their time saving advantages by selling tickets at low fares from Europe to Asia (besides of course Australia-Europe). I mean one well-known UK vlogger recently found the cheapest fare for London-Bangkok was with Air China changing in Beijing ! I mean a couple of years ago that routing would have been ridiculous in terms of extended flight time and excess flight mileage. Looking forward to the rest of the videos from this trip.

      I was actually surprised at how short this west bound flight is! I really like this itinerary because our jet lag was very light when we got to UK. We were over it by day 2. Compared to our last flight to Europe which was a 31hr journey with no overnight stops, it took us almost a week to recover from it, and by that time, it was almost towards the end of our trip.

Everytime I transit through Shanghai they would take my power bank to check the capacity rating even though the 10000 mAh power bank is clearly much smaller than the 27000 mAh limit for flying. Singapore took my nail file because the rounded tip "is sharp". Manila took my nailclipper because the tip "is sharp". Angeles / Clark took another nail file because the rounded tip "is sharp"
