    I generally think reliability is a subset of practicality. If it isn't reliable then it isn't practical, but being reliable does not necessarily mean the car is practical.

    Doug, I bought a 2004 Bentley Arnage T after watching your video a number of years ago. It ended up actually being the Arnage that Ed Bolian talked about on VinWiki, so it has some RUclips pedigree as well! I've owned it almost 3 years and have had to replace a couple pricey things (rear spheres for shocks, a new hood latch assembly and a new windshield wiper motor) but everything else has been regular/general maintenance and fixing minor cosmetic issues. It looks very close to the Arnage T you reviewed in your video, black with dark blue leather and turned aluminum trim everywhere. It has 61K miles and is my favorite car to take to car shows and Cars and Coffee events here in SW Ohio. Glad it made the list!

    Thanks for including the Panamera! I own a 2010 4S that is beautiful, fun, fast, and hauls everything. We have a roof rack and haul kayaks, bikes, and occasional furniture. On road trips, it is the most comfortable car we have ever traveled in and gets reasonable gas mileage (26-28 hw). For $25-$30K I think it is a true bargain.

    • @elsletten
      @elsletten Год назад +4

      Agreed. Right along with with the Panamera, I'd add the vehicle it shares a lot of it's mechanicals and features with, the 958 Cayenne for the same reasons. Reliable (albeit with higher maintenance costs) fun, fast and handles better than a vehicle it's size has any right to. One leg up on the Panamera is that it tows my 23 ft wakeboard boat with ease. I've had an 11 Turbo for 3 1/2 years, and 40k miles. Higher than average maintenance costs on wear items (suspension and brakes) but really only one mechanical issue (water pump) it's now at 120k and I still love it. I've floated the idea of a Panamera for my wife but she's not interested, which is probably best for the pocket book.

      Yo for real. I see old normal cars from the 70s or such and they look like body on frame 4x4s with how much ground clearance they have compared to normal sedans today. Our infrastructure is falling apart. Idk why they build cars deisgned for ultra smooth new roads when most of us ain't getting that.
      Plus living in the foot hills of the Appalachia Mts doesn't help. Many roads suddenly incline or decline. You can see all the gouges in the road where the sedans plowed into it
      No wonder people buy crossovers. Most aren't going offroading but they can at least manage our horrid roads. Some crossovers do have worst clearance than sedans to be fair. But overall, it reminds me of cars from the early 20th century.

      I agree. Reliability is #1 when considering a vehicle practical. It doesn't matter how good it is if you can't count on it. I wanted something Wrangler-ish and ended up with an FJ Cruiser because of reliability concerns with used Jeeps ,Land Rovers, etc.
      Early 2000's Silverados (pre AFM) are built like an anvil and incredibly reliable also. I have an '02 2500HD 4x4 with 240k miles and never been into the engine farther than a water pump. Transmission original also, only 1 filter and fluid swap. Change the fluids, keep it greased, exercise regularly.
