Spoilers* they are witches who convince her that only beauty matters and nothing else is important. They turn her into a narcissist using visual cues as magic and they did just that, she fixates on herself, the middle triangle, and the mirror effect of kissing herself makes her fall in love with not who she truly is but her beauty. Mirrors don’t show what kind of person you are just what you are and she fell right into their trap. This scene tells such a story in only a few minutes and the theme of the movie is shown the most in this scene. Truly beautiful Refn this is a masterpiece.
