    Hi Nick. Your channel is fantastic. I have a Sony XBR-75X900E that does not power on. No standby light. I am able to measure 3.3V on the standby line, but do not get anything when measuring the 12 volt line to the mainboard. I jumpered the standby, Power On, and Tcon On lines and was able to get 12 Volts to the Tcon line, but still nothing on the 12 volt line to the mainboard. Do you still think it could be the mainboard/emmc chip or do you think it is the rare power supply board failure, and if so, which power supply board. If I'm not wrong, this tv has 2 power supply boards. Any tips on what I should test next to diagnose the problem? Thanks.

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  Год назад

      This is going to be one where I would say I don't know the answer without being there to do the test myself. Here is the thing, the 75" 900E model may be designed a bit differently and you may need an extra jumper to activate that 12v line.
      Based on statistics and probability it's your mainboard that is bad and needs to be repaired.

      Sorry, we go through too much trouble and spend too much money acquiring good software to give it away for free. It's also not our IP so I can't legally sell it to you.
      If you have a defective mainboard we would be happy to fix it for you at our flat rate service fee. Once the mainboard is fixed and working you could then remove the eMMC chip off the board and clone the chip.

    Remarkable. This exact tv model failed with the boot loop 4 years ago. Got it repaired under an extended warranty which had them replace the main board and flash the firmware. It has been used sparingly since then. It actually hasn't even been turned on in a month, and of course the same issue just popped up again today. This time, no power at all.
    Sony tv fails every 4-5 years meanswhile I have a samsung and panasonic LCDs going strong after 12-14

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  10 месяцев назад

      You most likely have another mainboard failure on that TV, unfortunately.
      As for the following statement, I would like to make an amendment if that's okay
      You had said:
      "Sony TV fails every 4-5 years mean while I have a Samsung and Panasonic LCDs going strong after 12-14"
      The amendment is the following:
      "Older LCD TVs last for 12-14 years whereas newer sets fail within 4-5 years"
      When people say "they don't make them like they used to" this is very true!
      The reason is that this is something I have noticed happening with all brands, Samsung and Panasonic included. They all built their sets better in the past, they lasted longer and were more serviceable as well.
      Now if you tell this to any reps, of any brand they will tell you that newer sets have way more technology and moving parts and thus have a higher chance of something breaking, which in their defense is true.
      Let me know what you think and if you agree or disagree.

    • @nybiggs
      @nybiggs 10 месяцев назад

      @@NicksTVRepair I definitely agree that a lot of it has to do with how complex TVs are getting today. I had an earlier model Samsung plasma that had a thread on avsforum hundreds of pages long because the TV had a common defect where the screen would sparkle after a year or two. Samsung never admitted any defect.
      This exact model actually had its base warranty extended from 1 year to 5 years because Sony admitted there was a defect where one of the later firmware updates started causing a lot of tv sets started to fail.
      I guess it's good that Sony TVs can be repaired fairly easily. But the idea of poassibly having to repair the main board every 4-5 years is insane.

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah, this is true. From a customer standpoint, you would expect your appliances to last longer than that.
      It is weird though because you expect to do yearly maintenance on other things such as your car. Personally, I would prefer to pay more upfront for a higher quality product that would require only certain parts to be replaced every 5 years but have a screen that lasts at least 20 years. Those replacement parts would need to be made available by the manufacturer for at least 10 years after the manufacturing date.
      I mean if I said that to any large business, they would laugh at me but can you imagine how much less we would be throwing away. This would reduce the amount of metals and chemicals we toss into landfills significantly.

      What is the issue you are experiencing with your TV?
      Chips are typically used across many models, so it's not because a circuit board is no longer available for your specific model TV that the components are all out of stock as well. We are able to get components for many circuit boards that are completely out of stock and have been for years. In fact, a large portion of our repairs are for discontinued circuit boards that are no longer available.
      I would highly recommend you give me the full list of symptoms you are experiencing with your 55A9G and I will tell you if I can fix it or not.

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  Месяц назад

      Based on the information provided I would tend to believe the defective part is not the eMMC but the main processor chip. The reason is because the eMMC when it fails wouldn't cause the HDMI to stop functioning, however the HDMI processing all occurs on the processor itself. When the processor fails it can also start causing symptoms similar to the eMMC as it stops communicating with it properly which is why you are experiencing the boot loop fault. With that said, of course it is possible that both are failing and both require repairs, and if that's the case then that is something we can take care of for you.
      Your local tech doesn't have the tools and software for this repair, this is normal, in fact no one does other than us. We are the only ones currently able to perform the repair of this specific mainboard. This is a very niche and advanced repair only a few hundred companies in the world have the tools required to perform it, and almost none of those companies are involved in fixing TVs.
      You can no longer find new replacement mainboards for this model, they are discontinued and only used / for parts boards are available on eBay or for sale from recycling companies with very low to no quality control.
      If you are looking for a sure thing, properly tested mainboard, the only way for that to happen would be to send your original for us to fix.

      If the picture is not appearing it's most likely because the ribbons are not properly inserted. This is the most common reason you don't get picture after replacing a mainboard or swaping out the T-con.
      Reseat your ribbons, that should do the trick.

What actually happen when we do a Factory reset? will it pair a new board? Thanks in advance.

      Hello Kim,
      Something isin't right with one of the boards, the software you are using, of the flashdrive. If you tried everything in the video then it should have worked.
      Recheck all of your connections on all boards, try using a different flashdrive, and make sure its 4gb or larger. Make sure the drive is formated to fat32 and has no other files or folders on the drive.
      Make sure the file is not inside of a folder or compressed/ziped.
      Try again maybe using different USB ports. Maybe the USB port you tried is broken or damaged.

    @NicksTVRepair - I have this exact model TV, Most of your Sony TV repairs seem to involve replacing bad chips. Mine has an intermittent main board. In that the TV appears to be dead, but if I tap all over the main board, it will come back to life. My question is- Do these Sony boards ever suffer from heat related cold solder joints and can baking or a heat gun fix my problem? Thanks!

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  8 месяцев назад +1

      In my experience almost never bad solder joints. 99% of the time it's either an eMMC, HDMI processor, a lightning strike or power surge damages the processor.
      With that said, it's not impossible, just improbable.

    • @MarkShapiroMusic
      @MarkShapiroMusic 8 месяцев назад

      @@NicksTVRepairthanks for your reply! So you're saying that in general Sony TVs don't suffer from the BGA solder problams that Vizios and LGs do?
      If I do have a damaged chip of any kind, would tapping on the board get it working temporarily? This TV will work for short periods of time (usually until I turn it off) and then to power up the next time I have to do the tapping routine.

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  8 месяцев назад +1

      Correct Sony TVs don't suffer from the same cracked solder joint faults we see a lot with 4k Vizio sets. LG doesn't really suffer from that issue either. The LG sets from 2009-2015 perhaps did but not the newer 4k sets from the last 5-7 years. Now with that said some of the Sony sets and LG sets do get CPU failures, but cracked joints are not the fault, it's internal failure of the processor in which case they need to be replaced not reflowed.
      This situation where tapping the CPU allows it to work, I have not seen with any of the Sonys made from 2013 and up. I have fixed over 2000 mainboards and have not seen cracked joints on them. It's 90% of the time failed eMMC, 5% shorted HDMI processor, or 5% failed CPU that needs replacement. Never really seen cracked joints on these before. With that said, it doesn't mean it's impossible. Just very unlikely. If the chip was damaged typically tapping it would not fix it no.

      Fane,
      It sounds like you don't have proper communication between the new Mainboard and the screen. Most likely this is due to the ribbons not being seated properly. @NicksTVRepair  Год назад +1

      Hey, that's awesome! That doesn't always work, in fact, most of the time it won't but if it does that's great. It usually means that the software you installed is a different version which most likely has no critical data in the bad blocks of the EMMC chip meaning it will allow the chip to work for a small amount of time before failing again. Sometimes it means you can get the set working for another few weeks, or a few months and I have heard of people getting another year out of their set before it eventually failed again. Rarely does it give a long-term solution however because this is not a software fault, as shown in the video the EMMC chip fails on a hardware level. Sometimes the failure is more severe sometimes it is less severe.

      It is possible it is a fault with the TVs mainboard, but it is also possible it's an issue with the signal type. Plug the PS5 into another TV and go to the picture display settings. Make sure to set it to auto. Then try it on the TV again.
      If you still have issues then I would have you double check to see if other HDMI devices work on the TV. If that is the case then you may want to try a software update or factory reset of the TV or PS5. If other HDMI devices also don't work on the TV then I would recommend you send us your mainbaord for repair as your TV mainboard most likely has failed and will need servicing.

      The pairing process takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour sometimes. You have to wait for it to stop blinking then it should shut off and turn back on with the picture. If it starts blinking orange and green again then you have to do the pairing a second time.
      Yes often it needs to be done twice this is normal.
      If you still have issues I would recommend doing it a third time. If you still have issues then look into reseating your ribbons, and trying again.
      This should resolve the fault.
      If it does not then it's entirely possible you received a defective board.
