@@CrokeyHigati That won’t work for me. Either it’s lame and kills the nostalgia or it’s good, tedious, and social enough that my phone explodes (and then I can’t play it anymore).
It won't be the same, look at NEXT. It takes 15 minutes to level skills from Rank F to Rank 1 now. The new generation of players can't handle the grind, so a faithful remake would never be a hit. A bastard version might work... But it won't be the same game.
It was fairly popular about...I wanna say 4-5 years ago. That was about the time G3 was cooling off and everyone was hyped for G4-6 (which happened all at once in America), and was the peak of it's lifetime advertisement. Past that, the game's age (both in terms of graphics and internal engine) and Nexon's mismanagement started to show. It's still alive, for certain. But it's aged fairly far and Nexon America is a poor caretaker. The game is *extremely* popular in Korea, however. That's why big name animes keep doing tie-ins with them, including ones we never got in America (FMA).
It was not popular in the west, because of a few reasons: 1. The game was already aged when it reached the west (2003 vs 2008) 2. WOW was the staple of MMO by this time, so it did not manage to attract many western players. On the other hand Mabinogi was THE THING in Asia before WOW, so many Asian players hold Mabinogi in high regard. 3. Because Nexon America rushed through the early updates, western players did not have time to develop their character skills or enjoy C1 as much as they should. I feel bad for Western players sometimes...
There was a stigma about Korean games being more grindy than American or Japanese MMOs. But it is just a stigma. There was also the fact that people generally tended to enjoy power leveling and raid intensive games. CoH was being turned into a Raid Intensive game at the time due to WoW's pioneering in the field. People generally didn't play games for stories either. It is sad.

If Mabi got a remake, it would probably be a bigger hit than FF XIV.
It is getting a Mobile game remake if that counts,
