@@benjames4502 ok. So you’re living in fantasy land and organizing a fantasy boycott in your mind. Repeat after me. Twins will always be disappointing and unfun for the rest of your life. That was the best Twins show I've watched and I've seen a lot of them. You guys summed up all the frustrating issues perfectly! I compare the Calvin Griffith era (1961-1984) to the Falvey/Rocco era. Griffith era baseball was better. The hitters were better and more disciplined, they struck out less, played small-ball, could bunt and get their bats on the ball to move runners around the bases, were better with RISP. Game management of pitchers was much better. The Twins played smarter baseball in the Griffith era. Falvey/Rocco baseball focuses on hitting home runs, not caring much about hitters striking out, not caring much about having runners on 2nd/3rd Base with less than 2 outs and failing to score, not caring about LOB. Most of the players on '87 and '91 Twins World Series teams came from the Calvin Griffith era. Some players on the '87 and '91 team were obtained by trading Griffith era players for them. Only 1 or 2 AL teams in the Griffith era made the playoffs; today 6 AL teams make the playoffs. It's much easier in the Falvey/Rocco era to make the playoffs, so don't be too impressed with the number of playoff appearances in the Falvey era; 40% of teams make the playoffs now.

I think the "out of sight, out of mind" angle that Judd brought up, is the #1 reason for the lack of enthusiasm. I had no interest in upgrading when Bally's came back on Comcast, because I had found other interests, and realized that I don't really care any more.
Falvey spent the money on Vazquez and Kepler and Margot and Farmer instead of pitching. That’s the bottom line. Throw in the money he spent on Mahle, Topa, Paddack, all pitchers with known injuries. Derek Falvey is a 🤡
Cleveland and tampa Bay put far money into there drafting and player development, better coaching. The Polhads cutting scouting last off season, theres no possibility the Twins are able to mimic other systems.
You can't buy a sports team like it's any other business. Making as much of a profit as possible should not be the driving factor in all operations. That's why the vikings have such great owners, they're willing to spend as much money as they possibly can to build the best possible team on the field. Unfortunately, the twins seem like they're just completely screwed with the Pohlads. The Pohlads seem incompetent AND unwilling to spend money
Vikings are not a great example because of the NFL salary cap. Almost every team in the league is compelled to meet or come close to the cap. The NFL is that profitable that it doesn’t make sense for them to have owners like John Fischer, etc, or cheap Pohlads etc. they would force cheapskate owners out very quickly if they rostered a team of all minimum salary scrubs.
If they run back there starting rotation next year, i wouldnt be mad, solid top three and swr as a good 4th, festa could gold his own. They need starting debth after that and some left handed bull pen help, and better buxton insurance.
No they don’t need to change philosophies. This is a business. Not a baseball team. The ONLY philosophy that matters is turning a profit at the end of the year. If you think there’s a different philosophy that would work better you’re wrong. Now, it’s up to the fans of the Twins to decide if they want to show up to support this business or not. It’s not going to change. The owner has already perfected his philosophy.
Judd’s plan makes sense, and Rocco’s job may not be safe. After all Falvey fired Molitor and had a front office member fire Mientkiewicz over the phone, so he’s not afraid to pass on the blame elsewhere, which is gutless. The Padres are a good comparison in terms of market and their lack of a good TV deal, but remember they are pretty much forced to spend to compete because they’re in the same division as the Dodgers.
Why does this feel like that next year's attendance is going to be so low like how the white sox attendance was this year. I feel like that's going to be the trend moving forward. Target field isn't going to be fun anymore.

All I need to say about the Twins is why should I invest myself in a team that does not invest in itself? At this point, I genuinely hope they miss the playoffs both because their recent play has been horrible and the Tigers have been fantastic (and I would rather see good baseball in October).
As a reminder, the Twins were rated to have one of the top bullpens in baseball at the beginning of the year. So we can criticize Falvey for not adding a starting pitcher, or a reliever or starting pitcher at the deadline. But talent is not the issue with this team. The issue is effectively drawing it out, and I have no confidence that Baldelli is up for the task. Fire Baldelli and get competent management in there, and get a TV deal with no blackouts and I'll be excited about this team again.
