      that's great advice right there
When it comes to sales, I only search for items I'd buy at that moment anyway
For example, since I buy necessities such as toilet paper or yogurt, I'd buy a certain brand if it's on sale and the quality of is worth it
Plenty of bargains are actually fake sales, when the discounted price is actually not that much lower (it's just been lowered from a higher tag for the sale effect)
Just like Nate said, you're not saving $800, you're in fact spending $400 - since you wouldn't have spend that money anyway

But on the other hand, in the US at least, you can use your car to make money in your off time with contractors such as doordash, uber eats, etc. At my old job I would make ~$600 a week before taxes, but about 2-4 days a week I would go doordash (most popular in my region) for just a couple of hours. If you are familiar with your car in terms of maintenance, condition, and efficiency you can easily minimize excessive miles and gas economy. This easily boosted me over $300+ extra a week after expenses. If you learn how to maintain your car personally (common things at the least such as oil/filter changes, tire rotations, etc.) your miles will pay for themselves and you will definitely save on maintenance costs.

@@BimmertechG01 righttt.. i actually do uber eats and door dash and have made more money than a regular job.. and still am conservative as this guy.. today having a car is actually an asset or a tool to make just as much money... especially when he says he spends $100 a month...100x12=$1200... and that can literally buy you a cheap car to do these kinds of jobs or a good down payment for a decent job and your extra earned money pays the monthly car note and insurance.. so i get what he saying especially if you're single and young like him no children not married and make money through youtube obviously then that works.. but if you don't have those things and you have kids, then that portion of the video about a car is not for you.. he will learn when his time comes with a family he will NEED A CAR.. Story time: about 3 weeks ago, my wife and I decidedly to do something I swore I'd never do, which was buying a brand new car (actually, a dealer demo, so it was a good deal). Anyway, as we went over our budget to find out if we could afford it, we found out we were spending literally hundreds of euros a month on delivery and take out. To make it worst, it wasn't even fancy restaurants, but mostly "cheap" stuff.
Since then we have been making almost every single meal at home, we have saved a lot of money and we actually eat better and healthier than before.

Your car idea is so true, I found that out by accident. I started saving super quick after I wrecked my car. Instead of immediately going out and buying another one I just walked to work for a while. Then once I realized how much money I was saving by not having a car (maintenance, impulse buying, fast food) I didn’t buy another one. In 1 year I was able to save $9,000 from a $15 an hour job. The year after that I was able to save $11,000 in total. Headed to $30k and still don’t have a car!😁

This is simply not an option for the many people who do not live in large cities with public transit systems. Where I’m from, in South Texas, not having a car will severely limit one’s job opportunities, as well as quality of life. Of course, one does not need to buy the most expensive vehicle and be tied to making $500+ payments per month for 5 or so years, it’s simply a way to get from point a to point b and we should always remember that.

One of my favorite souvenir ideas that I came up with is a tray on a bookshelf with coins from every country I've been to. When travelling, I'll just keep in mind that I'd like to save a coin of each denomination (.01, .05, .25, 1.00 etc), and toss them into my dopp kit during the trip. Then at home, every once in a while, I'll see the tray and sort through it for a minute or two and see a coin from some country and memories from the trip will immediately start coming to mind. Good stuff. :-)

I’ve been lucky to make it to 41 countries on 4 continents (many more than once) over the past 6 years and mostly stayed in hostels... This allowed me to meet people from all over the world, make friends and have an amazing time (and save a fortune)! I ended up visiting many of those people and meeting them in other countries. I had a goal to make it to 50 countries before I turn 30 but I don’t think I’ll make it now with Covid. I can’t wait to get back traveling. I only discovered you on RUclips tonight (I’m from the midlands of Ireland) and I’ve watched several of your videos and they are absolutely brilliant! Thank you! I’m guessing your heritage is irish?? I am 100% with you. I am 3 times your age, and financially independent. Part of this is having a decent and steady job. Part is also throwing money out the way many people do. The only downside to this, maybe a delightful downside, is that the frugality habit is very hard to break. So I may leave a lot of money on the table when I die, which is kind of not the intention. You may not want to look back and realize you've denied yourself some pleasures of life in the name of frugality. That is something to consider when you occasionally splurge. I need to splurge a little bit more often. Also, had I held more equities than fixed income instruments when I was younger, I'd have a hell of a lot more than I do now.

Was gonna say the same thing haha I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and you’ll have a hard time getting around if you don’t have a car. I do have to say that Houston has better public transportation than all of the other big cities and you could get away not having a car if you live in certain neighborhoods. But generally, most of Texas is rural so cars are a must

All my friends make fun of my car😂 I paid 5k cash for it and never had a payment. Had the damn thing 7 years now and never left me stranded. I always tell people that wanna buy new cars they can’t afford it. If you don’t have the money for it right now, you can’t. Buy a $1k car and when it breaks down, buy another $1k car.

I understand the logic about books 📚 I pride myself on my book collection however. For me it’s just been one of those long time goals to build a massive library, it’s a badge of honor. Being able to tell people observing your collections that you have read 75%of the books on your shelves (and mean it). I imagine my office in my $10 million dollar dream home one day, a whole wall of books, there for easy reference when I need to grow in different areas.

4 years ago I gave most of my books (and I had really many many) and my magazines also. And I started to do everything on my tablet with digital books, or audio books sometimes (if the reader brings something) or digital magazines. I can then travel with my library and many books are free when they are old enough. Also some libraries have had some of their old books scanned and it is possible to download a scan of original editions which is just amazing.

On sales I always remember what my father used to tell us when we used to jump up and down seeing off in shopping apps, "it's the stuff the sellers want to get rid off, one that no one wants to buy when sold without off, so why pay money to clear off their stockpile, also if you wait for 6 more months probably you will get the same for 90%off"😩, alas most of the time, it's true... Most ones especially in grocery stores and supermarkets it may be ones that are about to expire or dresses in stores that was never sold all over the year🤷
