  • Hey guys! here is my long awaited pregnancy Q&A video - a very long one at that. I hope I answered everything to the best of my ability but it can be hard to pick the words for some of these topics! I hope this video only brings positivity and if you are someone struggling in this area right now, I am thinking of you and your family. I hope sharing my experiences with you only brings positivity to your day
Please remember that every pregnancy and every woman's journey is different and cannot be compared. Whilst I am having an overall positive experience and could not be more thankful, there are hard days that come with this journey too. Just because it is 90% positive does not mean there are not 10% harder days in there too :)

Just wanted to comment regarding the epidural (not to change your mind at all, but for people following) - it doesn’t make you numb from the neck down. I had a spinal block, it actually wasn’t a choice because I had forceps, but now it’s made me want an epidural if I have a second. It makes you numb from the waist down and it’s bliss after the pain 😂 the feeling comes back pretty quickly and I had no issues afterwards with my back at all. Also, you don’t even see the needle and I didn’t feel it either. Just wanted to comment something positive to give another side 😊 x

I just had my fourth baby and I swore I wasn't going to do epidural with this one ( I did with baby 2 and 3) but after several hours crawling out of my skin in pain I was like why am I torturing myself. Got it and don't regret it. I was numb from waist down as well but could still feel the pressure of needing to push and I could feel baby come out. Just no pain! 😊. I was definitely able to enjoy the labor experience more thanks to the epidural.

Great video and very thoughtful of others, I am some of those... not trying but not preventing for over three years without the luck yet ... fertility investigation begins.... still enjoy other journeys and seeing them grow and develop and have that lucky fortunate time and be happy for them ❤ love the idea of that app!

Tens machine can help with pain during labour. Also, partner applying pressure to your back can help. Then controlled breathing and if you want it gas and air

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!! ♥️
I found the digital course from the Positive Birth Company incredibly helpful :) also don't think it's too naive of you to not want the birth to go too quickly.. I was in (active) labour for about 10 hours and thought it was perfect, because it really was like a journey. Might have actually been a lot more overwhelming had it gone much faster.
Also, I'm sure you'll absolutely be able to do it without an epidural. The breathing techniques really helps. All the best to you! xxx

I think the most important thing that you said is you'll go in with no expectation!!! I had way too much expectations and as you said put too much pressure on me and everything went differently than I expected. But I have the most gorgeous son now and everything's fine

You are such a beautiful soul Stefanie, I SO appreciate how sensitive you are around pregnancy chat.... I wouldn't usually choose to watch a video like this, but was so lovely to hear your experience 🥰Sally Parkes has some amazing pre and post natal yoga videos.... I did my training with her and I also have a pregnancy playlist on YT, that's not too baby focused if that makes sense! Also Spinning Babies is an amazing resource for comfort in pregnancy and birthing positions ❤P.s. I think you're having a wee baby girl 🌸 x x

Hey congratulations!! I have just been watching your video. You said you mum had said about all your fam and auntie etc buying you stuff is so true but when I had my baby it turned out everyone bought a wee outfit or something so I didn’t end up with the essentials I thought I would get lol. Just make sure you have a free different sizes of vests and sleep suits for the first week to see what size they will be. My baby was weighing big and then came out 6.15 and was too wee for new born sizes. My mum had to run all over the shops trying to get tiny baby which was actually quite hard. They will literally be the only things you need to start. Hope you don’t mind me saying as it was what I expected and for the opposite lol. Also aldi wipes and nappies are amazing having tried loads of others. Hope you are doing well xx

It’s really hard to make a firm choice about the epidural. My best friend did all these hypno birth techniques and some other things as she really wanted an organic birth. However she couldn’t predict the level of pain and everything she planned went out the window mid labor.

Read book birth skills. Such a good book for birth preparation and effective pushing. Try gas for pain relief. Helped with all of my births. Takes the edge of the pain.

I also don't do anything other than tracking my cycle condoms on the risky week etc... Always had a feeling messing with hormones was a bad idea so I just refused! Almost 40 now 2 kids in... Now hubby is snipped (hooray!)

    Hi Stef
Been following you since 2017. I had my first child in 2019 then my 2nd in 2020- 15 months apart! I had them both in the water in a midwifery led unit at my local hospital. BTW yes you do shit but they have little fishing nets to remove it TMI!! My 1st was 19 hour labour and 2nd 8-9 hour maybe. Both I just had gas and air and boy i had so much fun with that blue tank haha. I breastfed my first for a year and my daughter who was born in 2020 is still feeding off me. I have also donated approx 165L of breastmilk with my 2nd born to a milk bank. Despite this yes i went through 4th trimester and for my it is more of ensuring that the people around you are aware of it. my 4th trimester was the worse with my 2nd because of covid!!! thanks boris-arsehole. breastfeeding is such a challenge and you really have to be 1 million percent constant. I had mastitis so many time and blocked ducts, antibiotics etc- up 3-4 hourly in the night to pump milk too. I did this for both babies and when the baby latched it was toe curling. no yes it is not NATURALLY EASY despite it being to most natural thing in the world. My friends always comes to me for breastfeeding advice but please always see a breastfeeding specialist and get as much support as you can. If it doesn't work out then thats absolutely fine as like I said it's HARD!!
Congratulations to you both and looking forward to seeing you're journey as a mummy
