I bought a ‘23 Mojave 6 M/T yesterday and knew it was designed for fun off-road runs…but I didn’t realize it was THIS capable. Holy shit. I’m too excited. Thank you for this review.
Nice, M/T. Prob the best trim if you are gonna leave it stock. I went Rubi diesel for a few reasons, but the deciding factor was the power plant, 300whp and 550wtq after an ecu tune. I spent like 10k on the lift and triple bypass shocks 😅 . If I had a Mojave I'd just do an AEV spacer lift, 37s, gears, front locker and it'd basically outdo any stock rubicon. Really rare to use the front locker but it has helped me twice.
@@theWACKIIRAQIended up trading it in once I learned it doesn’t have rear side curtain airbags. I’ve got kids so that was a big deal for me. Jeep announced recently that the 2024 model will have the airbags and I’m definitely considering getting back into one.
I keep seeing videos of people trying to compare it to the Rubicon by constantly putting it in rock crawl head to heads. Of course the Rubicon is better at Rock crawling! We wanted to see the Mojave doing what the Mojave does best. Loved this video.
Funny how people complain of the hp and speed. It is not a sports car. 285 is enough, but get a full size if you want towing and hauling, get a Porsche if you want to go fast! The sandals are a nod to veteran automotive journalist and longtime Jeep enthusiast, Rick Pewe.
I have a Wrangler with a manual. I drove an Auto and it feels faster. Still underpowered. It should come standard with a 5.7 Hemi. I'm constantly getting frustrated struggling getting up to speed and getting 8-12mpg because it just can't hold speed. 6th gear is basically useless.
@@victorandrade7940 Should have gotten the automatic, the manual is pretty pointless because of how crazy good the 8 speed auto is, funny enough the 8 speed has a lower first gear than the 6 speed manual does, and it has a much higher 7th and 8th (duh, due to lack of higher gears) The manual in the new jeeps exists to just check a box, it's a dead thing and needs to stay dead because autos have gotten to the point of superiority. as for the power issue? Supercharger kit, it's like 8 grand and gets you above 400 horsepower without engine swapping, and forced induction V6 is the exact type of powerplant the Raptor has so it fits in with the desert sled thing.
Mojave to me seems a perfect tow rig for small to mid size travel trailers, with the upgrades to the frame. You still get a great 4x4 in the process with dana 44's front and rear. The V6 engine has come along way and is now pretty reliable compared with its first few yrs. Its growing on me. The ecodiesel also seems a viable option to me for towing with it. I am a Tacoma fan from way back, however am slowly coming around to this truck as a possible new rig. The Tacoma has been going the other direction for yrs now with reliability, not happy with where its headed and more other mfgrs are going in the right direction as far as what I am looking for in a new rig.
i love mine i traded my Silverado trailboss for a mojave and im loving it the tow is just perfect for me i can tow my lil camper and my quad trailer with out a problem plus i love how nimble this is for a mid-size truck
Only problem with the Mojave is the low payload. A trailer and a couple adult passengers can easily put the mojave close to max payload, before putting a pound in the bed.
What gets me is it doesn’t have power…it’s a v6 pickup. If you want a fast car don’t buy a truck. I use the crap out of my 20 gladiator. I love it. Payload for the normal auto is 1700lbs btw and tow is 6000 without max tow package.
That tends to be Wranglers/Gladiators tend to feel that way mostly due to gearing, Rubicons with autos are really bad about that because their first gear is a really deep crawler that only stays in gear till about 5 MPH and forces second gear to act like first.
I just got a Mojave on 6/7/21. I've been a Wrangler guy for many years and I have to say.... The pedestal showroom attraction is now mine! 😂 Black with Orange accents with every factory possibility upgrade was done. Just over 70,000 out the door, and I'm as happy as can be with this ride. Just as a side note, I traded in a 2018 Cheif, Sahara with 34,000 miles, and the depreciation was $2059 from the sticker price originally, after what I purchased for and the trade-in, I made a few dollars. The Jeeps really hold their value. Now looking forward to 2023 to see what's next.
And that is how you do that. Excellent review. Liked, subscribed. I just drove my Ram 1400 miles on a whim snag a crazy colored Mojave and I love it.... Except the power. I got a 6-speed manual hoping it would be more engaging but I swear this truck does not even have the power my Ram did with the same engine.
I love mine, have not jumped it yet. Have taken some pretty bad roads/trails at speed and it was perfect. Speed, yeah it is slow. Supercharger or Hemi can fix that.
I don't have the Gladiator, got the 2020 Wrangler Sport 2 door, and I have a blast in it so I can only imagine a Gladiator Mojave! Man us Ontario people off road 👌😎🇨🇦
Supposedly a 4L version of the Pentastar was planned from inception but was cancelled for some reason. That engine could be a nice improvement in power without the complication of turbochargers and without the weight and cylinder deactivation of the Hemi V8. Lighter is always better off-road, especially for racing and jumping. My guess is the suspension/frame and perhaps even the body itself would have to be upgraded even more with the weight of the V8. Please keep it simple Jeep. Bump the V6 to 4L and stay away from direct injection!
I test drove one of these before buying my f150 and loved everything about it, except the power. IMO these should be standard with the 5.7 hemi at the price they are. No way I could justify spending a lot more for a lot less on the gladiator over the f150. Its almost cheaper to buy a daily and then buy an older trail jeep for wheeling than to buy one of these and kit it out.
I hear you! To drop a Hemi conversion would cost us 40/45,000 in addition to the cost of the vehicle. It cost Lite Brite 40,000 to drop the Hemi engine. They are planning on a Hemi in 2021.
@@ericsalinis733 Or you could just get a super-charger kit for the Pentastar that pushes it to the exact 440 ish horsepower the Hemi has for you know....like 8 grand.
This package on a single or plus cab, would be perfect for me!! I love it, just don't want or need a 4door. I know today's buyer does. Looked at them, just to dang long.
a little more consideration toward performance would have led you to the 8 speed auto. It is better in every way for the mojave. 4 and 5 on the 6 speed are just too tall.
He doesn’t care, it’s not his $70,000 truck. He couldn’t gives a fuck if he abuses the shit out of it. Hope the Ford guys see what really happened on the 408 video (link is in the description). Looks like it’s already too late to save the Bronco testers. What a jerk-off this guy is. Reasonable jump is one thing, total abuse is another. I
Jeep blew it with the pathetic power! I added the Ford Performance Tune to my 2.3L 4 cylinder Bronco and on premium fuel it gives me 330 HP! It’ll blow the doors off of this thing off road!

I just bought a mojave this past weekend. I hope I have the balls to use it the way it was built. Great video.
Love it! Thanks for watching, I pretty much ate my balls doing these jumps
I bought one a month ago, I love it so much and it drives so nice on the beach, nothing like it
I got a 2021 last month and I’m loving it. It drives so smooth
Congrats man!
The sandals is a nod to Rick Péwé he is always in sandals and an icon in the Jeep community
Who?
I bought one 2 weeks ago! It’s too expensive for me to have the fun I would want with it! The Gladiator is a beast!
You know it’s capability now!
This guy truly knows how to make great vehicle reviews.

'285hp is enough'....till you get into the ecodisel that has 450 ft lbs of torque see what your missing out on... which is effortless cruising.

It's a cool truck for sure but the mojave's payload is much lower unfortunately
I drove one yesterday AUTO and it felt quicker then the Manual. What you said about driving it in the suburbs its spot on.
