  • We review the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Mojave truck, a new trim level to help compete against the Ford Raptor and Tacoma TRD. The updates to the Mohave include many suspension and chassis changes that we discuss. Will these updates make this one of the more desired midsized trucks in the segment? Other options are the Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, and Ford Ranger.

I actually agree with this. That’s how I feel about my JK 2 door, I love its character. It’s by no means perfect and very much so with it’s bad catalytic converter, even so it’s hands down the vehicle that has the most personality I’ve ever owned and I love the damn thing, deficiencies and all.... why I’m willing to put up with those problems. I usually dump my cars before they develop issues, not this one, it’s been long paid off and not leaving my fleet.

They will sell 1, 000 of these on Nantucket. Our speed limit does not go above 45 mph. Half our roads are unimproved sand. Much like most of Massachusetts our paved roads are 50% potholes. And, we already have 1,000 Gladiators on the island. I look forwards to be side swiped on my bike by 20 of these each day. But that name is spelled wrong the model should be called Jeep Gladiator Madaket...because that is where 90% of these will be parked.

That’s kind of the thing with Jeeps, it’s just so variable.... as in so many ways to option it out. I’m not sure about the Mojave in this case but if you want a bare bones example with crank windows, no A/C and a manual transmission, you can do so, or you could load it up with every option as well.

I agree this is THE trim for most people. I even think it might be one of the best for forest workers. Daily commutes on dirt roads can get very old very fast and most of them end up in more expensive full size pickups that probably ride better but not much on bad roads. Lets face it, the rock crawling crowd isn't huge but the weekend warrior that likes to explore is. I only wish they made it in a shorter wheelbase version. Maybe a regular cab on a Wrangler Unlimited wheelbase or a regular 4 door Wrangler with much shorter bed. Its just too long for me. The type of off roading I do is such that when I decide to turn around the road is already pretty bad...in this you'd be reversing for miles before you could turn around.

Since I’m a retired Chrysler employee I had help build Jeeps since Chrysler bought them, and have owned or leased ever Jeep that had been made. Just traded in my 2019 Ram Laramie for a 2021 Mojave and totally love it. I know the ride and the wind noice would be completely different and have no problem with that . The problem people have is they buy something they don’t want and will not accept what they have. I love the size of the Mojave because my wife and do gardening and we are alway getting plants, mulch, dirt, and other things for the home. Besides that I mainly use it as a daily diver and like the ride . I am looking forward to maybe fine some trails around Michigan where I can take the Mojave.

This makes so much sense. I’m not a huge off roader, but when I’ve done it, sand and high speed trails are a blast, and rock crawling is stress inducing misery. I don’t care if skid plates are designed for it, it’s not a fun sound. If tailoring it to high speed running also makes it better on road, all the better.

I love how it hugs the road and corners in the turns. It's definitely a unique driving experience. I've only had my '21 Mojave 3 days, and it just connects with me. Mine had an original sticker price listed at $61,575; and I drove it away from the dealer lot for $43K, with only 33K miles. I'm Jeep-hooked in a very short period of time. Thanks for the video!

Is this rig worth $800 /mo for 6 years (3.5%, $52000)? I just can't see it for a weekend dune buggy/truck. We have to get realistic here. To me the number one draw to the Mojave over all the other models of Gladiator is the extremely beefed up frame and shock mounts, this makes for a super strong truck for towing small to mid size travel trailers and SXS's, yet the jeep is still great for mild to medium trails offroad. I don't think your gonna bend this frame while towing or heavy hauling. If I was buying this I would add a hard side camper shell with roof top pop up sleeper its about 340 lbs. Perhaps an Overland AT Shell for desert camping in style. I would probably prefer the 5.7L V8 but the V6 appears to be adequate.

Oh my gosh, a vehicle with unique character! That's the key reason I don't enjoy pretty much any new vehicle, they have a lack of character.
The only Jeep truck I've driven, a Comanche SporTruck, road like a dream. It was the smoothest and flatest handling truck I've ever had the pleasure to drive.

I think this will pretty quickly become the default off-road trim for the Gladiator. The Rubicon upgrades never made that much sense on something with a 140 in wheelbase, but the long wheelbase of the Gladiator makes it especially well-suited to the Mojave's "desert runner" setup, and, like you said, the Mojave's upgrades also make it a better daily than the Rubicon.

I really wanted to like this thing when it came out, on paper it looked awesome, and I'm sure that it is.
But in person I just find it to look odd, I'm not sure if its the proportions, almost like the bed seems to long, or maybe the cab? I dunno.

Easy to get lost under there sometimes! Love you Gnarly Roosters!

What really sets the Mojave apart from the other Gladiators is the beefed up frame, its got a lot of added metal welded over the stress points, much better rig for towing than the rest, no slouch offroad either. This Mojave should put my 06 Tacoma to shame offroad. How come no Gator color in 2021??? I wanted Gator.
