We were the couple right in front of you on the Harbour Hopper. It was a pleasure to meet you and Don! Glad you enjoyed Halifax and Maritimes. And yes, the driver was sure Giv'n'er going into the harbour - everyone was soaked. 😊
You are an interesting man that seems to enjoy all you do. Nice narration. Wishing you the best for your upcoming surgery. Hello to the lovely Jenny B. Carry on!
I lived in Halifax for 38 years. I hated the terrible winters but loved the vibe of the city and the Maritime people. I am so glad you and Don enjoyed it.
Hi Tony, we are glad you enjoyed your Haligonian adventure. It's great to get your perspective on our town. Living here, we take it for granted, but watching through your eyes was wonderful. Halifax what a great place. Thanks Tony 😊
Halifax is one of my favorite ports. On your next visit, try to walk around in the public gardens and the old cemetery. Headstones have interesting art. Gardens close to Citadel, so easy to stop there. A pull up to the gardens from the terminal, but downhill after that. One time we were able to tour a Spanish tall ship that was in the harbor.
I did a NE/Canada cruise last year and loved it. We just walked around, no excursions. We did go to the maritime museum and really enjoyed that. Going back again this Fall and will look into the bus-boat tour!
Went to Halifax when I was younger on a tall ship. Would do it again in a heartbeat, cool place. Looking forward to going back on my own terms next time though!
Being from Halifax and coincidently also a tour bus driver , I love hearing about positive experiences in our " Cute " Little big city. over 200 ships due in this season , love to see it!
Love Halifax. We honeymooned there 35 years ago. At that time, we didn't know anything about the munitions accident that fairly leveled part of the city. Did you know every year Halifax sends a Christmas tree to Boston to thank them for their assistance after the accident? Such a beautiful waterfront that continue to wow. So many amazing places to pause for a lobster roll or libation. We took the ferry last September: beautiful vistas and a quaint town on the other side. Thanks for the video, Tony!
Just FYI, the Halifax Citadel is a National Park now, not an active base. The soldiers are just actors :). If you ever go to Quebec city, the citadel there is still an active military base
WE LOVED HALIFAX AND CANADA IN GENERAL AND ARE GOING BACK AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2025 ABOARD RCs VISION OF THE SEAS OUT OF BALTIMORE!!...NICE PEOPLE, EH, AND CAN'T WAIT TO DO A FEW MORE BEAVERTAILS!!!....
Thanks for you vid on Halifax. I was there in the 50's when I immigrated with my parents from The Netherlands on Holland America's the Waterman (my first cruise!). Glad the city has evolved to a cruise port.
Sorry, just some minor corrections. The last person interred in the Old Burial Ground was in 1844, long before the Titanic. The victims of that sinking are buried in Fairview Lawn Cemetery (121), Mount Olivet (19), and Baron de Hirsh (10), all some distance from the downtown. Also Fort George atop the Citadel is a National Historic Site and the soldiers you see in 19th Century attire are reenactors.
so glad you enjoyed a small part of my and dons Canada and thank you for doing this video to the world I am sure a lot of your fans will have a positive feel as to what the Maritimes has to offer.
Spent 4 days walking around the waterfront and 2 days at the Citadel... stayed at a friend's place about a mile from the Citadel.... a WONDERFUL PLACE.
My original hometown my relatives. Many generations ago came from there from Scotland. thank you for my trip back home loved walking there been decades sadly
The Drunken lampposts are so amusing. They represent 3 drunk guys- Fountain which is the one peeing into the water, Get Drunk which is the wobbly one looking in concern at his friend Fall Down which is slumped across the pier.
The lawn mowers are geofenced battery powered ones; my employer uses Husqvarna lawn mowers that have a similar setup. The work like a Roomba. Boston has Duck tours; I wouldn't go on one as those vehicles are rather squiffy. I like your overview of the port, though! Being from New England, I'll just focus on the Caribbean, Europe, and maybe, maybe, Alaska at some point.
No, Sir, no Titanic survivors were brought to Halifax; only her dead. The cemetery you passed while on the Harbour Hopper, is The Old Burying Ground, which was the original cemetery for the city, dating back to 1749. It closed in 1844. The Titanic victims are buried in 3 cemeteries -- Baron de Hirsch Jewish cemetery (10 buried there) in the city's north end, Fairview Lawn non-denominational Cemetery (121 buried) in the north end and abutting the Jewish one, and Mount Olivet Catholic cemetery (19 buried) in the west end.
We have been to Halifax as a cruise stop quite a few times now. We always walked off and did our own thing. We did do the duck boat tour one year which was fun. We have walked up to the citadel fortress to see the views and check out the museum inside. We watched them fire off the cannon at noon. Nearby the port is Alexander Keith's Brewery which is a fun kitschy place to visit. Another trip, we rented a car and drove up to visit Peggy's Cove on our own.
I've been going back & forth trying to decide on whether I'd give it a go on my own or do a cruise excursion, as this will be my upcoming cruise will be my first visit to Canada, but this video has sealed the deal. I'm going on my own!!! Thank you so much for sharing and GREAT narration!!! I'm definitely seeking out that Harbour Hopper when I get there. :) Absolutely subbing!
We live in Germany and always love to visit Halifax. A very pleasant city! I like those street lights on the ground on the boardwalk. First, I thought it was a leftover from a storm... Only to learn it is Art.... 🙈 And if course a visit to the Titanic Museum and the Citadel and and and.... Great place!!!!
Excellent video, Halifax looks like a beautiful city, and thankfully quite wheelchair accessible. Will discuss going there in the future with the missus thanks to your video!
We have been to Halifax twice. Did the Hop On Hop Off on the HAL cruise and a self guided on the RCCL Transatlantic. We will be going back there on the QM2 and booked an excursion to Peggy's Cove.
Hi I was a bit disappointed with tbe Peggy's Cove trip and wish that I had done something like this instead. We visited the cemetery where Titanic peopme were buried but it ended up being a bit rushed. The lighthouse at Peggy's Cove is picturesque but it was crawling with tourists & hard to get a lunch spot! Anyhow enjoy it.
Thank you for the great tour of our waterfront in Halifax Tony! Next time you’re in Hali-town, let us know and we’ll take you out to Peggy’s Cove if you’d like to see it. Oh did you get to meet Merlin the Macaw at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic? 🦜 Take care and thanks so much for all the great info and tips you share for cruising. 😎🏖️🏝️🌴
Thank you for your video of Halifax- I went on a tour with the ship in Halifax and I did not see all of the areas on your video of Halifax that you are showing and so I really enjoyed watching your video and seeing areas of Halifax that I did not see.
Was your Harbour Hopper captain named Dave? He's a friend of mine. There is so much to see and do in Halifax and in our small coastal province in general, a very short stop by cruise ship only gives you the smallest glimpse!
Glad you and Don enjoyed Halifax and got to experience our downhome hospitality. As I live here, I would agree to explore on your own. It was nice to see my fair city from someone else's point of view. Gives me a chance to appreciate this wonderful place I live in.
We did the Harbor Hopper.. It was great…but… when we entered the water the driver drove in fast and we were in the front seats and we got soaked…lol I looked up at the driver and his shoulders were going up and down because he was laughing so hard. We were laughing really hard too, it was hilarious. He did give us paper towels to dry off with. But we loved Halifax!
Great video! If you're ever back in Halifax, check out the Halifax Central Library on Spring Garden Road - unique architecture and white walls and staircases inside.
Nice! My first and so far only cruise (another is booked!) was Canada/NE on Princess in Oct. I loved each port and booked no excursions. In Halifax, I loved the Maude Lewis galleries in the art museum. She was a folk artist and had a small cottage in Halifax that she painted all over. The entire little house is in the museum and it is wonderful. Then i went to the beautiful Public Garden (I love parks), had some seafood chowder at a restaurant, and explored the walk along the harbor. Great day. I walked past the Citadel and Maritime Museum but didnt make it inside either.
We did an excursion to Peggy’s Cove, then took the hop on hop off bus around town when we were there in October 2023. The excursion to Peggy’s Cove was too short. If we ever go back to Halifax, I think I would go there on our own. There was some interesting shops and restaurants there to see, but we barely had enough time to look around the lighthouse.
Halifax is a really easy place to explore. On your next visit I do recommend going into the Citadel for their tour. Its very educational. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Nova Scotia.
We typically create our own excursions like you did here for our first visit to anywhere. The second time we visit anything recommended or that we might have missed. If there’s a casino, we do that too. Won in Bimini last month. So that was fun!
I saw Halifax briefly while at bootcamp in Cornholeus. I would like to retrace my journey from Annapolis to Halifax as a free civillian and in summer. I am not cut out for regimented Navy life.
What a great video. My grandfather's family first came to Nova Scotia many many years ago from Poland. On one of the buildings is the name of the family store.
We enjoyed our stop in Halifax off of the Nieuw Statendam. We walked much of your route including up to the Citidel and down along the waterfront and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks for the video. I will be making my first-ever cruise in September and Halifax will be our final port so it's great to see that it's easily walkable.
We took the Canada/New England cruise in 2019 aboard the Norwegian DAWN. Each port we would go to the port parking lot and find a cab or someone making extra money driving their personal vehicle and have them drive us around for an hour, giving us the history of their town. We would have him drop us in town after he suggested things we should check out on our own. We saw the Maritime Museum and window shopped. It was a very interesting trip. Hubby thinks it was even better than the Alaska cruise. We live in Vancouver, BC, so Alaska wasn't as much of a change as the Canada/New England. When you were in the water and you commented on the little boat that looked like a type of ferry, we have them at home. The Sea Bus takes foot passengers back and forth between lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver and the old train station in the downtown area. I used to live on Lonsdale and would take the Sea Bus to work every day. It was an awesome start to the day! Looks like you had a great day in Halifax! Thanks for sharing.
That little ferry you saw was the Dartmouth ferry. It is actually the best place to get a good view of the waterfront. It leaves from the Halifax waterfront and goes to Alderney gate in Dartmouth. It takes 15min each way and is $2.75. A very good way to get great pictures with out spending a lot. There s also a second one that goes to Woodside a little closer to the mouth of the harbour
Grandmother took me every week to the Museum to look at the models, you can spend a life time there, I would spend hours every week just mesmerized by the models.
I did it on my own. I did the fort, and the cute little area of town with eateries. I was on the NCL Bliss Inaugural transatlantic/cruise. The ship ran out of beer, but it refilled at the brewery that is right by the port. 😮
I really appreciated this video because when we went on our Canada cruise 2 years ago (due to the hurricane) it rained so bad we only went to the port shops but we did get to The Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia. Looks like I need a do over.
Woot woot! So excited to see this! I live one hour away from Halifax! The Public Gardens are nice to see, the Bluenose2 ship…have been on that a couple of times, it is featured on our ten cent piece, also Peggy’s Cove, the area where Swiss Air 111 crashed and of course, closer to me…Lunenburg! Do come back again!
We took an excursion that included Botanical Gardens, Peggy's Cove, Cemetery where some Titanic passengers were buried, visited a Maple Sugar store that had alcohol in the Maple Sugar, finally a drive around citadel.
Thanks Tony…i really enjoyed this video..I am always looking at do it yourself touring. Halifax will be nice to do on my own whenever i get to a New England Canadian cruise🙂🚢
I got scolded. Scolded in Scotland! Check it out - ruclips.net/video/lYSbMgCrSXA/видео.htmlsi=VDVD5s9pZlIByrue
MUSTA REFERRED TO A RESIDENT AS "SCOTCH" INSTEAD OF A "SCOT"!!....remember, ONE is a DRINK!!..LOL!!!
We were the couple right in front of you on the Harbour Hopper. It was a pleasure to meet you and Don! Glad you enjoyed Halifax and Maritimes. And yes, the driver was sure Giv'n'er going into the harbour - everyone was soaked. 😊
Good to meet you guys also!
Good to see you and Don having fun together.
I loved Halifax, especially going to the Titanic cemetery. I went from FLL on the island Princess.
You are an interesting man that seems to enjoy all you do. Nice narration. Wishing you the best for your upcoming surgery. Hello to the lovely Jenny B. Carry on!

We did a ship excursion when we visited and went to Peggy's Cove which was beautiful.

The hop on hop off was great. We got off at the Titanic cemetery. The docents gave very good info about who was buried there.
Went to Halifax when I was younger on a tall ship. Would do it again in a heartbeat, cool place. Looking forward to going back on my own terms next time though!

In Boston they call them “Duck Boats”.
Just FYI, the Halifax Citadel is a National Park now, not an active base. The soldiers are just actors :). If you ever go to Quebec city, the citadel there is still an active military base
The cemetery that you showed is not cemetery where most of the titanic bodies were laid to rest. They are at the Fairview cemetery.
WE LOVED HALIFAX AND CANADA IN GENERAL AND ARE GOING BACK AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2025 ABOARD RCs VISION OF THE SEAS OUT OF BALTIMORE!!...NICE PEOPLE, EH, AND CAN'T WAIT TO DO A FEW MORE BEAVERTAILS!!!....
Thank you so much for this video!! Can’t wait to go for this great adventure 👍🏽God bless you
I love this kind of video's. Helps me putting things on my wishlist. Tnx Tony (and Don)
Thanks for you vid on Halifax. I was there in the 50's when I immigrated with my parents from The Netherlands on Holland America's the Waterman (my first cruise!). Glad the city has evolved to a cruise port.
Visited Halifax last Spring. Such a beautiful place. The people were so friendly as well. Can't wait to return.

Instead of flying “your leer jet to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun, you hoped on a Cruise Ship just to have some fun…” 🛳️ 😂
so glad you enjoyed a small part of my and dons Canada and thank you for doing this video to the world I am sure a lot of your fans will have a positive feel as to what the Maritimes has to offer.
Spent 4 days walking around the waterfront and 2 days at the Citadel... stayed at a friend's place about a mile from the Citadel.... a WONDERFUL PLACE.
Great content, thanks! We normally just check out ports on our own - especially when it’s a port like this where you can walk in and around.

Thank you for including the information that the port area was flat and wheelchair accessible. This type of information is very helpful to some of us!
This was a great tour! Thanks. I would love to see more of the places you have visited.
Enjoyed a tour in Halifax through the ship - most memorable was reading the headstones of the Titanic passengers that were buried on the Cemetery.

Hi Tony and Don. I live in Halifax. So glad to see you enjoyed your time here! Until next time!
Great pictures Tony. ..Like to see you and Don enjoying yourselves!!! 😊
I enjoyed the Harbour Hopper last week. It's like riding a bouncy truck without any shocks.
Going in September Boston to Halifax etc can’t wait 😁

The Harbour Hopper is a blast if you have kids/teens!! We took our kids one year (teenagers) and we all laughed and had a great time. :-)

Cool tour. We spent about 5 days in Halifax. It is a great place to visit with a lot to see and do.
So glad to hear you enjoyed our neighbor, Nova Scotia, and hope to see you come back to PEI sometime Tony!
I liked Nova Scotia. Very interesting and I got some great pictures and souvenirs that I gifted to family and friends.
We love Halifax. Also took VIA train from Montreal, stayed 4 days exploring the city and returned.
You and Don have so much fun together. I love it. B and I went there on our first cruise together in 2006. We did an excursion tho. Fun video.
Thanks so much for this video. My husband and I had been considering a cruise to Halifax. You provided so great insight to the port. 🤗
Once again Tony, thank you for sharing your tour!
Looks like a great port of call. My daughter and I cruise together and we often do our own thing but also do adventures offered by cruise line.
Being from New Hampshire, we did a camping trip to Nova Scotis, did the Citadel & walked the harbor area. Very nice area.
Halifax is one of my favorite ports of all time. Bar Harbor was great too.

We enjoyed our stop in Halifax off of the Nieuw Statendam. We walked much of your route including up to the Citidel and down along the waterfront and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I have to visit the Titanic museum. We loved the museum in Belfast and I love anything associated with Titanic. Love the ship models also.
I'll be n Halifax in May, 2024. Thanks for this. I had already planned to tour on my own, but now the Harbour Hopper is definitely on my list.
I loved Halifax! Hoping to go back some day!
Love the secret suites on the caribbean princess. All the amenities of a suite for less than a club class Jr suite.
Love duck tours. Been on a few, Seattle, Boston, Austin they are fun.
I have always loved Halifax
Thanks for the video. I will be making my first-ever cruise in September and Halifax will be our final port so it's great to see that it's easily walkable.
We cruised to Halifax in October of 2023. Not enough time to explore everything. So I guess we're going back soon!
GREAT intro to Halifax !!!
Very helpful, I am going there this fall. It was also helpful that you gave the boat tour price.
Grandmother took me every week to the Museum to look at the models, you can spend a life time there, I would spend hours every week just mesmerized by the models.
I've been to Halifax, and definitely you can do it on your own.
I really enjoyed this trip! Thanks for all you do!
Thank you so much for the information. We will be traveling there this Fall and we werent sure what to do
A vehicle that works on both land and in the harbor is pretty amazing!
We love the port area in Halifax. The waterfront area is great. Nice shops and food vendors and of course Tim Hortons.
Thanks Tony ❤️ Been waiting for this video. Thought I missed it😊
Thanks for the video. We will be going there this fall.
My hometown and missed catching you both . Would have been nice to have had a coffee and a beavertail , next time.
Thanks Tony…i really enjoyed this video..I am always looking at do it yourself touring. Halifax will be nice to do on my own whenever i get to a New England Canadian cruise🙂🚢
Halifax looks fun, I think I definitely need to visit there.
Hope to see more of this trip. We have been considering a similar cruise, and I have been curious about what there is to see in the ports. Thanks!
Looks great. We did a duck boat tour in Boston on a family reunion one year and really enjoyed it. Will have to try that if I’m ever in Halifax.
