    I've just started making some of my first cars. One thing that I really like how it looks is if you scrape off the paint in some spots to get bits of the die-cast metal to show through. I got the idea after watching some blacksmith make a sword. He took a piece of rusty steel and cut it in half. Steel was super shiny in the center.

      Cool idea! That happens to my cars from time to time especially when I'm using pencils on em, I usually end up keeping the scratch cuz it looks natural.

    Nice build! Mine have been a bit more simplistic so far, but this gives me some great inspiration.

    You've talked me into a rotary tool. I got a variable speed cordless Dremel, seems to be a good choice, as well as a set of drill bits that will fit the chuck and still large enough to drill out the rivets. We'll see how it goes!

    If you're looking for a rust-colored primer, you might want to try Stynylrez red-brown. It's pretty versatile and might be what you're looking for.

      I've seen em available here! Shipping atm is quite congested in NZ, but I'll put it on the list for when I grab that color primer.

    Awesome truck, I think that Bullfrog is a fitting name for it. This turned out really great, I love all of the weathering and the extras you added in. That idea of using a rollbar from another car to protect the engine worked out really well and looks wicked. With all the painting, washes, and pencil work you did here I was surprised to hear you keep saying it was only a side character car... If this is a side character, I can't wait to see what you do to a hero/main character vehicle. 😱
    Great stuff, thanks for sharing, and keep on keeping on!!
    (P.S. - This the is 2nd video of yours I've seen since Jay sent me here. Off to watch your painting/weathering tutorials now. You obviously know what you're doing, so I am hoping I can learn a thing or two from you.)

    Since the buggy is called Catfish, I think the truck could be named Gator or Bullfrog. Or... heck it's the wastes, named after the mutant wasteland fauna, the Gatorfrog. (And why is that not a SyFy movie yet? )

    • @CementSaul
      @CementSaul  3 года назад +2

      Both of those are really really good! Bullfrog's great for this one's look, and I think Gator might fit something on the workbench...
